I would include a Sawyer Mini water filter into my planning. That will filter 100,000 gallons of water if properly used, from foul stuff to safe drinking water.
You can also use things like Kelly Kettles and home made sand, gravel, charcoal filters to take stored water up to drinking water levels. It doesn't have to be stored in drinking water levels of purity.
Nicely done demonstration of the process. I've got almost 19,000 gallons of stored water on my site so I haven't pursued this method but this is ideal for a homeowner without much land or outbuildings. In colder climates you can put something like this in a garage and/or use a stock tank heater for cattle troughs to keep it above freezing through the cold weather. Add some sheets of foam board around it and create a giant "warm box" with just a 60W regular light bulb that will keep it above freezing.
I like the idea of painting it with the black to kill light and white to reflect light, hadn't thought of that.
Great job, my friend. :) Be safe out there. I pray for ya.

Great insights for the colder climates. Those in those climates will benefit from your wisdom. The various filters could be a benefit. In a 3rd world setting, everything would depend on accessibility of the filers. Something to check into when traveling to Honduras.
One area not covered in the video would be using a rocket stove to boil the water to address water impurities. Maybe in the future, I'll address the usage of a rocket stove for cooking and water issues.

You are welcome. I tested the temperature of the water a couple of weeks ago. The temp outside was in the upper 90's, but the water temp was in the 70's. Temps here in Southern California during the months of July, August, and September range in the upper 90's to 115. For the temp to be this low was great. Check out the videos I have on the Rocket Stove and Oven.
