You are right. Mama is their Debut song. One of the things I love about EXO is you can never go wrong with loving any of their voices. The longer I listen to them, I can’t imagine EXO without all 9 members as they each bring something amazing. This wolf remix is one of my favorites as they really got to flex their vocals ❤
All Exo concerts...JUST AMAZING!
The concert version of "Wolf" is the remix version, so only the beginning and end of this performance is what you saw in their "Wolf" MV -- the middle part, where it slows down, is new, but the hype part at the beginning and end is exactly how the original song sounds. Often, the performance and choreography for their songs in concert is different than the original because they put a different twist on it every time they perform it.
EXO debuted in 2012 with their song "Mama" and "Wolf" was their first comeback in 2013.
The moving picture you see the EXO members create during "Wolf" is a tree and it's supposed to represent the Tree of Life. Which is a visual connection between the storyline in "Mama" and the story in "Wolf". In their "Wolf" MV they create two separate trees (or one tree that is split in two) because the MV is when they still have 12 members. EXO-K (Korean) was one half of the tree and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) was the other half. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into two separate trees anymore because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015.
In "Wolf" the members are supposed to be a wolf pack. So, the choreography and the song is about them acting like wolves.
The choreography was created to use movements that made them seem like wolves, and the moves, such as them showing their claws and bristling their backs and shaking are all things that wolves do as they compete for power and attention, etc. The wolf comes out of the forest (as he scratches the ground behind the Tree of Life) and he is stalking his prey. Their prey is the girl that, in the song, they are talking about being so obsessed with and in love with that they can't help but act like a wolf and capture her so that no one else can have her, etc.
In EXO's songs and MVs it is often thought that the girl that EXO sings about is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life. So, that is why EXO becomes so enamored by her and so possessive and protective of her, etc. Protecting the heart of the Tree of Life -- or "the girl" -- is what EXO has been sent to Earth to do.
How I interpret the part where Kai Xs out the tree, is that EXO are searching for the Tree of Life and Kai has eliminated that tree from their search. It's not the tree they want, so they get rid of it. In the intro to their debut "Mama" MVs, which sets up EXO's whole storyline and explains the group's concept, the narrator talks about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. It's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace in the world. So, in their live performance, that is what they are doing. They are searching for the real Tree of Life.
The shadows that they dance with also could have something to do with their X-EXO clones, which was later introduced in their "Obsession" MV in 2019. If their shadows are X-EXO, this could explain why we see them fighting with, and eventually eliminating, their other selves. (And now it could also be connected to the silhouettes we see behind the lighted white wall in EXO's "Tempo" MV and SHINee's new "Hard" MV storyline.) Therefore, in this performance this could be a foreshadowing of events in their storyline that only begins to make sense as the story evolves and SM reveals more details in the future, etc. Which is why we say, if you want to really follow EXO's storyline, you have to pay attention to everything EXO does and you have to try and remember everything you have ever seen and heard from them. The story may not make sense at the moment, but it could be important in the future to help explain something else that is happening in EXO's storyline or even part of the larger SM Culture Universe storyline that involves all of SM Entertainment's groups and artists.
And, at the end, I don't necessarily think Kai is breathing heavily because he is tired. I actually think he is still in character. He has that brooding expression on his face and he is breathing heavily because he is acting like a wolf. Although I am sure the members are tired after those performances, you would be surprised how well they are able to recover. In reality, if you saw them interacting with the audience right after that performance you would probably be surprised at how they don't look or sound out of breath or tired. They have trained their whole career by doing cardio exercises while singing at the same time, in order to build endurance and stamina, so they are able to sing live while dancing this intently and not use up their energy.
And in their dance practices we often see them wearing a lot of layers because it helps build endurance and it conditions their bodies to be able to dance on stage with their stage outfits and not be affected. Why it looks so effortless on stage and like they hardly even exert themselves sometimes, is because their body has become used to being dressed in layers while working hard and wearing heavy boots, etc. It's kind of like if you spend a lot of time in a sauna, after a while your body gets used to the heat and you can endure more heat for longer.
Just imagine, that was only one set from a more than 3-hour concert, where they performed more than 30 songs. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, after this they only took about a 5-minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc. You have only scratched the surface of what an EXO concert is like, just wait until you check out more performances from their concerts. This isn't even considered the hype set of the concert, just wait until you see how much energy they use during that set.
What Baekhyun screams in the middle of "Wolf " is "Tokyo Dome," which is where this EXO PLANET #3 - The EXO'rDIUM(dot) in Japan world tour concert is being held.

Lay does appear in the korean version of tempo but he isn't allowed to sing in it because there were still issues with China at the time. So he could only sing in the Chinese version. And Exo-Ls are like the loudest fandom. Award shows always turn into Exo concerts because of Exo-Ls. There's even a video compilation for our chants.

All Exo members still looks same but tbh the members who don't age at all are probably Chanyeol, Xiumin, D.O. and Baekhyun. Sehun also looks same but there's always a maturity to him in each comeback.
By the way Mama is their debut song, Wolf is their first comeback after Mama. 22:19 I think you're talking about Falsettos but yeah I guess after Chen, Baekhyun has the most amount of high notes along with various adlibs with KyungSoo. Besides that Baekhyun and D.O. usually starts the songs. 23:47 its the first time I've seen someone mention Suho's stage presence ❤ Suho and Xiumin often stay laid-back for the other members to shine. On the stage Kai, Lay and Sehun are always shining in dancing, Chen, Baekhyun and D.O. are shining in vocals, Chanyeol, Sehun and sometimes Kai being rap monsters but Xiumin, Lay and Suho ace all the these fields.

Sorry, but I’m not watching a blacked out screen. It drives me nuts to hear you comments and I can’t see the choreography. For me? EXO is 50% seeing the choreography and 50% the vocals. I’ll check back when you can either not use copyrights or find a much friendlier screen cover. Others have used raindrops, squiggly lines, etc, so it gets by the copyright rules and still allows viewing.
