Thanks for the upload!!! This was when soaps were still loved and popular!!! I truly miss AMC and OLTL!! ABC made a stupid choice cancelling those soaps!!!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! That was great! :) Hillary and Tad!!! I used to love them together so much! It broke my heart when they broke up. :(
Oh lord! I REMEMBER when Hillary told Tad "I think you should marry Dottie." That line broke my little tween heart back then! Yall remember "Almost Paradise."
I always find it funny how AMC and GH shared promos more often than not. Not too surprising, considering they were ABC's biggest daytime hits, but I wonder if OLTL, RH, EDGE and LOVING were like, "Hello, there's other shows here." Also, it's interesting to see Rona Barrett made her way back to ABC (she jumped ship for NBC in late 1980).
Jack The MAN Well in Edge’s defense, ABC really didn’t give it the great respect as the other ABC soaps. A lot of market area started to drop the show, and during the extreme height of GH and AMC, Edge’s ratings were at a 5.0 which was considered low since GH especially was.pulling in around 11 million viewers delay around 1980/81 .
@@a.b.s_productions Nothing against Edge. I heard it was a pretty good soap in it's prime. I just feel OLTL didn't get the respect it deserved at times. Especially for a show that ran nearly 45 years.
Jack The MAN Even though OLTL was on 2 years prior to AMC, AMC was way more popular. It’s something how a show that followed AMC for so many years OLTL never beat AMC and their ratings were a bit lower. I also feel had ABC affiliates didn’t start dropping EON it really could have averaged higher ratings since it followed GH. Kinda seem like Edge was that last little soap that came on after people were so hyped over GH. That’s how I felt about GL after ATWT went off for the day, it was like “Oh yeah stay tuned for GL.”
Great ads. Was the first one from earlier than 1983? I thought the Cobra story was around 1980 or 1981. I hadn't seen these before. Not too fond of that histrionic FEEL IT LOVE IT theme. Sounds like Sprockets.
i don't remember the exact date, but it was between April and June 1981 when it was revealed that Peg English (Patricia Barry) - Brooke's mother (and Phoebe's sister-in-law) - was Cobra and responsible for Ann Tyler's death....
What great memories. Everyone watched these shows- everyone!

GENERAL HOSPITAL is now in its 60th year.. 6 decades of LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON!

ABC was the bomb back then.
Love the promos....I remember these clips
100
LOVE the Three's A Crowd daytime promo!
Thanks for catching that, it was 1981. Fixed the title.
Didn't know the Edmund character from All My Children played on General Hospital

OLTL was consistently a top 3 show. It shouldn't be lumped together with Loving or Edge.

@@a.b.sproductionsllc Check the ratings from 1986-88 OLTL did have better ratings than AMC. I still love both shows though.
In This Clip, From 5:54 To 6:25, It Was ABC Daytime's Line-Up Video Promo For The Week Of December 23, 1985.
Was that John Callahan in a General Hospital promo?
yep, it was - probably best remembered for his time on 'Santa Barbara'...
I remember him on All My Children
Edmund Grey
Yes, as Leo, He looked gr8!
am i mistaken, or is the announcer for these promos Dick Tufeld - the voice of the Robot from 'Lost in Space'?!??
It definitely sounds like him. This is the voice that he used when he did the opening narration in each episode of "Lost In Space"s first two seasons.
2 Grants for the price of 1!
Frisco and Felicia!
He sure did, manley1983!
Was that Tracy Q he called Cynthia on AMC? If so I didn't know she was ever on there
She was married to Palmer Cortlandt
Awsome 👍

Classic!
Jimmy Lee in his bikini briefs on GH. Oh my!
Replacement Liza. I don’t thing she lasted long. I think she was on ATWT either before or after AMC.
