FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY - a true and honest assessment of the differences between MD and DO students and physicians!! (my new website coming soon!! www.AJmonics.com)
great video and super accurate and concise way of breaking it down! i'm an OMS-2 right now and i agree with everything you said! as for the last part about the holistic model, I think it def varies from school to school perhaps on how much they emphasize that approach. it also varies from student to student how much they want to adopt that approach. like you said though, I think a lot of students do opt to apply broadly to DO schools bc historically their median GPA and MCATs are often lower than maybe a more competitive MD school. great video!👏🏽👏🏽 I think more patients and non-healthcare people care more about the differences than actual clinicians do 🤣 so I hope people stop caring someday LMAO
I am happy you liked it!!! Yes, trust me, I understand that some DO schools are super into the holistic thing. I am talking specifically about why the majority of students attend the school - it's okay to admit that it's because we found the MCAT hard - the good news is, as we see time again, MCAT score doesn't predict how well a person will do on the boards or in the hospital.
MCAT was terrible. Too much of a variety of stuff. Studying for boards in med school is better since you study what you are passionate about The last section of the MCAT (psych soc) was the most annoying and I hated studying that BS. Some of the bizarre, disgusting stuff in psych was made back in the day by a guy whose best friend was a pedophile. I personally disagree with a lot in that section, so I barely studied for it and the 100s of terms needed to know, and it ended up being my lowest score on the MCAT
