    hey i was the conductor on this train, the reason for the derailment was bad rail. Our axle and wheels came off on one side of the car, we’re lucky it wasn’t a lot worse!

    the car is not really attached to the truck the pin on the bottom of the car holds onto the truck but the weight of the car keeps the pin in place

      @@Paul070but people who tag just to tag…it’s not even good. It’s like “tagging” hasn’t moved on since it started. When people actually make something impressive, that’s much more unique. Stupid squiggly letters nobody can read is lame. If you’re going to deface property, at least do something impressive.

    • @billdougan4022
      @billdougan4022 8 місяців тому +2

      It was an older car and probably cheaper to scrap it. The pin may have sheared and the truck rolled back may have damaged the linkage and metal air lines. Faster to just remove the car.

    • @trainlover98
      @trainlover98 8 місяців тому +4

      Actually, the crew didn't know what happened until the train went into emergency. There is no active detector in that location. The one in Rosenberg is no longer active. There was broken rail that caused the derailment. (The train stopped because the air hoses came loose and caused the train to go into emergency.)
      Also, the train stopped so quickly because it was an empty grain train, and it really doesn't take much to slow it down.

    • @stevenelleby8685
      @stevenelleby8685 8 місяців тому +2

    Something At The Back Of The Train Causes It To Stop.

    • @ArtStoneUS
      @ArtStoneUS 8 місяців тому +1

      the FRED (the blinking red light thing at the back of the train) measures the air pressure in the brake hose and transmits that information via radio to the locomotives. An emergency stop is much more controlled if it's done from the back of the train and the FRED has the ability to dump the air. Part of the reason why there used to be cabooses with a person was so they could dump the air from the back end, the most extreme example being that for some reason the crew in the locomotive passed a red signal

      I counted a loaded coal train and it had around 110 with 4 locomotives, and a gravel train with 130 cars had 5 locomotives.@@UP6706_Central_Iowa_Railfan

    • @UP6706_Central_Iowa_Railfan
      @UP6706_Central_Iowa_Railfan 8 місяців тому +2

      @@greaterhoustonrailfan it all depends on the weight of the train as well. 130 cars would roughly be 50,000 tons of more. That's why they need 5 locomotives, if they had 2 it would be a struggle to pull it up hill

      @@greaterhoustonrailfansometimes they bring extra power to that destination, not every engine is on. I have seen a 240 car mixed freight train with 4 engines. Also, you should give a shout-out to the railstream. Because they may think that your stealing video content. Because you never know these days, just like live trains in Houston, they had an incident with a UA-camr with Franky M and so did I. Just be careful of what you post.
