How To Put Up Christmas Lights with LED Spotlights

  • These are red spotlights I got this year - very high quality LED but very expensive. Not worth the extra money in my opinion:
    amzn.to/2U6kl8a
    These are the bulbs I got 2 years ago that are half the price and work almost just as well when it comes to brightness and color:
    amzn.to/2PbVTi5 (red)
    amzn.to/2Sk2msY (green, people say these look “Miami blue-green”))
    Wion TImers I use:
    amzn.to/2U4ZLFj
    These are the C9 lights I have around the roofline:

    • Christmas Lights At Gr...
    Here is my very first “How to put up Christmas Lights” video:
    • How To Put Up Christma...
    This is where I was first developing the strategy of “Clean.Simple.Classy” Christmas lights. This was the first year I started using LEDs. As you watch the following vids you will see how the strategy progressed.
    Here is my 2014 update - rockin’ the Dad jeans for sure:
    Part 1: • How To Put Up Christma... (roof line)
    Part 2: • How To Put Up Christma... (ground game)
    Here is my 2016 version at my little house in St Petersburg:
    • Putting Up Christmas L...
    I was actually pretty happy with this - but I did not like the way the uplighting in the trees turned ou.
    Here is the 2017 putting up Christmas lights version. This is at my new house and was the first time I put up a display here:
    Part 1: • How To Put Up C9 Chris... (roofline and palms)
    Part 2: • Christmas Lights on Ro... (palms)
    Part 3: • Palm Tree Christmas Li... (wrapping the big palm)
    I felt like 2017 was too much work for too little reward and the palms didn’t look that great anyway. I also felt like I was choking them. So in 2018 I backed off all that palm tree wrapping and went more for spotlights. I think the 2018 display is much cleaner.

    For my colored spot lights, I use my regular landscape lights. Hobby Lobby sells colored film for overhead projectors. A pack of multi color runs $6.99. Cut the film to size and viola...colored spot lights. Want darker, add more films.

    Your lights make for a very classy display. Thanks for the great slideshow too. There's a house in my area that has what seems to be 35 of those inflatable lawn decorations. At first it's tacky, but the more you look the more impressive and awesome it is. It's all about a theme.

      @@eyeheartsushi2212 I like traditional string lights, not the solid bulb uplighting, that's too Florida for me. But yeah I have a larger house (cheap area, I'm not bragging nor am I rich), 3000 lights is a snap of your finger. I have 12 front windows wrapped in lights which is already 1200 lights plus icicle lights I have are high volume and rack up light numbers quickly

    • @eyeheartsushi2212
      @eyeheartsushi2212 5 років тому

      Sal S Whoa that’s definitely a lot of lights. How many hours does it take you to set them up?
      My lights are very similar to the lights LCN has on his roofline.

    • @italiansal3000
      @italiansal3000 5 років тому +1

      @@eyeheartsushi2212 it takes probably 5 hours of actual work. The problem I have is I have a 30+ foot peaks and only a 24ft ladder. I can reach the gutters with the extension ladder but not the peaks to reach for icicle lights so I need a remedy for next year ( longer ladder). My first year I didn't have icicle lights, and I typically pick up what I need after Christmas for half price. Like I said, it's a work in progress, so I still use those laser projectors. I also do my parents house which is really easy since it's a single story ranch and I can get to their gutters with a 8 foot step ladder

    Tasteful and thoughtful display. It turned out nicely! The only exception that I take to the entire video is the fact that 67° is not cold. Maybe for Florida, but overall? Nope. How does a mid-westerner - who is used to the cold - get so spoiled by the Florida weather? ;-)

    Clean and simple, I always remember K.I.S.S. Love your comment about all the Facebook "keyboard" warriors. That is why I left that group, too much negativity and opinionated people on there. They couldn't just tell someone nice job, they always had to nit pick or belittle people to make themselves feel better. They never looked back and thought that they had to start somewhere too and learned from their mistakes.

    Just an FYI Menards carries the FEIT bulbs for $6.99 each. They aren't the heavy duty ones like the Red you received with that massive heat sink but they are the same as the Green bulb you got. Next time you're in Indiana, Allyn, you should swing buy and grab some backups. Much cheaper than the $25 you're paying on Amazon.
