THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! I bought a huge hydroponic system and all the stuff you showed in this video to get started and it’s been sitting in my living room for a month because my mind was blown with all the pieces, parts, and really big words. Your video has helped me get started and not be so intimidated! So thanks again!
Tip: Put a black hole less flat in place off the clear dome until the plants sprout, (increases germination speed and causes the plants to search for the light which makes it start faster) Make sure once you see one sprouting to put them in light otherwise wise you will get leggy plants. Works for me that's my method!
Tip or step 4 is very correct. Do not use your nutrients until your seeds have sprouted there first set of true leave, or the first set of adult leaves. A few plants will be OK..but most of them will do much better in just plain non chlorinated water until they get the first set of mature leaves.
Hey, I've following your steps for 8 days now and the seeds have responded very well. I had a question in my mind that is when should I bring out the seedlings out of the humidity? I mean when are they ready to live without humid climate?
Do cucumbers do well in hydroponic systems?? I'm starting this season with kratky jar method for cilantro, lettuce, & spinach. Might move on to beet greens. Hope I didn't screw up, by opting for Root Riot plugs rather than rock wool.
Hi, Just about to get started on hydroponics. Trying to learn the ins and outs. I watched a video on growing spinach and they warn against Pythium? on large hydroponic farms? is this something the home owner farmer needs to worry about?
Very simple BUT what about the temperature. How do you make sure it doesn't get too hot/cold. Most heatpads are adjustable but without a thermometer it becomes a guessing game. I have actually invested in some cheap thermostats for about 3 USD that I bought from AliExpress. I haven't tested them yet so I can't vouch for them.
Thanks Luke for those four simple procedures. Question - After 2-3 weeks when roots and and leaf has developed, can I put them in soil rather than a hydroponics system.
Yes you can .many soil gardener start like that too .look for the video it is plenty in you tube.but you must carefully remove the growing plant out of the rockwood without damage to transfer into soil.
I have a question big I may ask In Hydroponic gardening Do you Use straight Tap ( city water as Some places There's too much lead or Chlorine or other harmful minerals & nitrates am I Right
Do you keep the humidity dome on once the seeds have sprouted and I have plant food that dissolves in water so is that like an optional replacement for the fertilizer you were talking about?
Hula.. I grow a lot of microgreens and indoor edibles through full cycle. I generally have my LED lights (6500K) on my Leafy green plants about 10 to 12 hours per day.. they are also just 3" above the plants at all times up to about week 5 or 6, then I back them off to about 6"-8" for another couple weeks, then back even further for the remainder. Other types of plants..Most of them.. I do run my LED's about 10 to 12 hours each day on.. till they are about 5-ish weeks mature..then I start moving them back..and giving them maybe a little less (8 to 10 hours) on each day.. There are a lot of of variations... with light as well.. I do mostly green leafy edibles, lettuce, swiss chard spin, collards.. so rules stay fairly constant. Flowering or fruiting plants.. are way different.. so.. a lot of info to post.. some other time. I do grow some Brassica indoors, (cauliflower, broccoli) for the purpose of harvesting their leaves only.. Those leaves are highly nutritious..and great in raw salad mix, soups, and sautes! ..For the most part my process is the same as lettuces.
This is a bit late but I found a good balance. First 3 days no light, dark, humid and warm. After that normal room light for 4 days. So after a week after planting you need extra light like sunlight, USB LEDs.
Can we grow mint and thai basil in the hydroponic system inside the house. Also you talked about cucumbers. Can they be grown inside the house. How do they get pollinated to produce fruits. Thanks,
Thanks for the video, I have a question tho. After the first initial sprouts and you add fertilizer, does the heat Mat stay on for the 2-3 weeks? Or do you unplug it after the first sprouts?
@@Chefpetrillo Thank you - that is an important thing - I always have leggy plants - now I can avoid it. Now I understand the sense - first a bit dark, this let them sproud, than immediately light before they get leggy. Very nice - this is a very important information. Thanks a lot !
Oh my god you're a baby in this lmao I found your channel 2 years ago and you look so much younger here I can't believe it. Same exact voice though lol.
Hey Luke, I'm really really worry about having these infected soil in plants indoors air, it's really a problem. and no one had said other than fertilize w organics, unless y want to kill something....and it's killing my plants, and me and my husband as well although we have accustomed to it (compost). you mean all this effort and buying shelf and trays, and fertilizers and seeds to grow indoor is a wash, and can not be acchieved. i lost seeds, time, and mixes, and air quality indoors, and lungs and fungus in lungs also....is it right. shoult they be out tonite?
Hi - I know this is an old video but I have to ask because I'm confused here. Do you recommend a grow light for starting the seeds germination? If I live somewhere sunny and warm can I put them outside? Do they germinate in darkness or do you need a grow light if indoors? Thank you for your videos!
+MIgardener | Simple Organic Gardening & Sustainable Living how long do I harden the seeds before I transplant them to the 5 gallon hydroponics? I'm in the midatlantic and it's about 70 indoirs

thank you for your video especially the part that says, "don't over complicate." I have knack for over complication so thank you, great video.
Just wanted to say thanks! Simple steps, it can get convoluted trying to piece everything together
00:14 - 5:36 That is 22 seconds longer than 5 Min, sir.
All jokes aside, Great vid! I start my First ever seeds tomorrow! Thank you for the help :)
Very well done and one of the few channels I have subscribed to.

This video is ACE. Thanks so much for this! 💚
This is so helpful and simple. Thank you.
…..awesome . thanks for being clear and succinct
We can also use Expanded Perlite, relatively high water content, it's porous, and it gives efficient growth in hydroponics method.
Tip or step 4 is very correct. Do not use your nutrients until your seeds have sprouted there first set of true leave, or the first set of adult leaves. A few plants will be OK..but most of them will do much better in just plain non chlorinated water until they get the first set of mature leaves.

Thanks for sharing, you make it look so simple and help me save a lot money.
Great video. What's in the red and green totes with all the holes in their lids?
Thank you. And thank you for taking the time to explain. I appreciate it
Geeat man, just started a week go! I was gonna overcomplicate things :) ..
How many squares of the rock wool would you recommend in each tray? And do the roots get tangled at all?
Nice and simple.Excelent video
Straight and to the point. Thanks so much!
Great tips there Luke. Really like keeping it simple, that is always the best way.
Thank you so much! Your videos are super helpful in getting me started :)

When is it advised to bring the seedlings to a light source after germination?
I’m wondering the same
You are a wonderful guide. Thank you so much!
Great video. When do you remove the top lid for good?
Do you add the diluted fertilizer when you first see sprouts or when you see first set of adult leaves? Thanks
So when the seeds are propagating when should I add water and how much water when it starts to dry?
You don't use vermiculite? Do you see it as unnecessary? Or simply optional?

Great video. Simple and easy. Even a child can do it. lol
Hi, at what point do I introduce light?
Thanks
Thanks Luke for those four simple procedures. Question - After 2-3 weeks when roots and and leaf has developed, can I put them in soil rather than a hydroponics system.
No dummy, this is hydroponics, water only, thats why it's called " hydro" pontics.
Well if you insist, OK.
Yes you can .many soil gardener start like that too .look for the video it is plenty in you tube.but you must carefully remove the growing plant out of the rockwood without damage to transfer into soil.
Do I take the plant out of the rock wool to place it in the net pots or leave them in the rock wool to grow until harvesting?
I have a question big I may ask In Hydroponic gardening Do you Use straight Tap ( city water as Some places There's too much lead or Chlorine or other harmful minerals & nitrates am I Right
Right oh, here I go, thanks for that!
Do you keep the humidity dome on once the seeds have sprouted and I have plant food that dissolves in water so is that like an optional replacement for the fertilizer you were talking about?
What about light exposure? When do you move them under a grow light or into sun?

You said nothing on lighting?!!?!?
Light - you need it.
This is a bit late but I found a good balance.
First 3 days no light, dark, humid and warm.
After that normal room light for 4 days. So after a week after planting you need extra light like sunlight, USB LEDs.
Buddy crying too hard
Rock Wool's PH is usually 7-8 good idea to PH water to 5 and soak the Rock Wool in the PH'd water for better germination...
can you advise on light? when does it need to be dark and when does it need light (and how much)?
Also do you use the same fertilizer for seedlings as you do for grown plants?
Very cool, lots of great tips :-)
Simple...thanks
i used net cup and clay bed and left a certain water level for them, something white grew atop my growing bed, what is it?
Very helpful, thanks! Couldn't help but notice the lack of vents in the dome. How do you circulate air for oxygen?
Piyush Dhaundiyal they don't need fresh air during germination. You can take humidity dome off after sprouting.
definitely made it simple.
Thanks Luke, How frequently should I spray them or irrigate them with water and fertilizers after they sprout and onwards?
Great Job.
You can grown cucumbers via hydroponics? Aren't the roots long, and won't they need a trellis?
My rock wool got moldy and the seedlings are withering. How can I prevent mold next time? (I did not use a dome cover once the seedlings sprouted)
What fertilizer do you use ?
If using a store bought plant that has roots already, how much of the roots themselves go into the water? How much stay out?
Very helpful, thanks.
Can u pl suggest a substitute for rockwool which is quite costly. Will sponge do ?-
Some people use cotton balls!
Love your videos! Thank you for all of the helpful information. What do you do with your used Rockwool cubes after a hydroponic grow has finished?
You can tear it up and use it in your soil outside or clean them using bleach and water if they're not too damaged. There are guides online
So simple, Thanks!!
With all the new products on the market, is this still a method that you would recommend? Or is there a better method out there?
my sprouted seeds after slight growth just collapse with the weight what is the remedy and what mistake do you think I made?
Nice video, how about the lighting schedule?
Approximately what temperature is the heat mat supposed to be at?
min 65 max 80
I know this is a very old video, but I was wondering if hydroponic plants go to seed?
Can we grow mint and thai basil in the hydroponic system inside the house. Also you talked about cucumbers. Can they be grown inside the house. How do they get pollinated to produce fruits.
Thanks,
+Nandhini Parthasarati Yes, they all can be. We have a video on pollinating indoors.
Do you use PH Balanced water to soak the Rockwool or not?
I don't. I just use regular tap water to be honest.
***** Okay, thank you.
THANK YOU !
Thanks for the video, I have a question tho. After the first initial sprouts and you add fertilizer, does the heat Mat stay on for the 2-3 weeks? Or do you unplug it after the first sprouts?
As soon as the seeds germinate unplug the ant uncover the dome and put under lights immediately or else your plants will be leggy
@@Chefpetrillo Thank you - that is an important thing - I always have leggy plants - now I can avoid it. Now I understand the sense - first a bit dark, this let them sproud, than immediately light before they get leggy. Very nice - this is a very important information. Thanks a lot !

silly question.. how many seeds per hole?
Does anyone know how to grow peppers using the Kratky Method in 5 gal buckets, how do you hold up the plants? Thanks in advance
JERRY SPINOS
very nice system
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! :D Hopefully you will enjoy the tons of content we have coming out!
Very Nice! New UA-camr here.
Do you separate the cubes first before planting the seeds?
You break apart the cube and plant the roots, or you can plant the whole thing if you are using soil and not a hydroponic set up

Can you start the seeds in rock-wool and then plant them in the outside garden? Thanks for sharing.
+BalconyGrow You sure can! I have done it numerous times and the plants go through a bit of shock, but they bounce back and are fine!
Good to know. Thanks for the info. :)
Are you going to be making another cooking video
fernurena420 definitely! tons more.
you can use dakron (aquarium filter). rockwool has an alkaline pH level. so you must soak it first before you can use it
Awesome
If you go by ppm… you only need to be above 300 ppm to have nutrient uptake

How to Start Seeds For Hydroponics in 6:12 and 40 EZ Steps
Ye man thank you
Sweet video :)
Where can you buy seeds??
Anywhere. Use any seeds found at the store... ie Burpee or Ferry Morse etc
ty
thanks
Don't they have to be in complete darkness to sprout?
I agree, it's pretty dummy proof.
I need to see what the seedlings look like before they can be safely transferred into a hydroponics 5 gallon bucket
+MIgardener | Simple Organic Gardening & Sustainable Living how long do I harden the seeds before I transplant them to the 5 gallon hydroponics? I'm in the midatlantic and it's about 70 indoirs
thanks alot
You won't need a heat mat if your starting lettuce or other greens. In fact they won't sprout.
Your last sentence is not true at all. Maybe you don't need them but they will definitely sprout.
You've said that organic indoors is no good... but I see that you have vermicompost behind you? isn't it the same as?
Can't tell if this is for 420 seeds... Literally here so I can grow spearmint hydroponically. (not kidding either lol)
A hole less tray has no holes....check.
i need more room so i can get a setup going like you have luke. =)
Awesome! It's Homemade Miracle Grow: Aero Garden!!!! :-)))
😂EXCEL
The sound volume is way too low on this video.
Your handsome.....nice vid
+bern brebz Thanks!
What do you use for fertilizer?
