+Philip Boisselle For sure my friend. Thanks for watching! I don't do a lot of reviews. Usually only for a piece of gear that I find that really impresses me. And this knife certainly did. They are in a class of their own for sure.
Not only is it incredibly robust... It also actually works pretty well for a lot of bushcrafty kind of stuff. The blade is a nice size and profile, it has a well placed choil, and it's not to uncomfortable to use for an extended period.
I've had a Strider MFS for over 14 years now, one of the first MFS's in ATS34 and ok, it's not a folder like shown here but it HAS been to hell and back and keep performing. If I'd made videos over those years then I could fill my channel with them LOL. They are not cheap but they last.
+Bush Camping Tools Agreed. I know they are costly but man they are built to last! I hear you. I wish I had started my channel 5 years ago as well!!! Cheers, Casey
+FadedHexx It's in Central Oregon. A lot of people don't realize that half our state is high desert. If you put your finger in the middle of a map of Oregon it will likely be covering up the spot where I am at in this video. It's awesome country! Thanks for watching my friend!
LOL... it's true. It's expensive. But I was pretty impressed with the abuse it stood up to. I've used it a lot more since then too and it's still taking everything I dish out.
Yeah, the price tag is a bit hard to digest if you're new to knives. You get your money's worth with a Strider. The Performance Series (MSC) is actually the best bang for your buck. It's essentially a "mid-tech" that is assembled and tuned by Mick Strider. The only difference between the PS and a full customs is the fact that the PS has a machine ground blade (not hand ground). There are other differences, too. But that's the basic one. Performance Series knives are twice the cost of a production SMF and about half the price of a custom with a standard NMG blade.
@@hvega8199 Yeah but a gun only serves one purpose. A knife is not for self defense as much as it's for utility and a tool for people who need a reliable and well heat treated knife. That's what they are known for and the price is high cause of low production runs and high demand. But I never understood people who compare a gun to a knife. You cant use a gun to build a house or do construction work but a good knife can help you with those tasks and when you use it your creating your own story through the knife and someday you can pass it down to your kids with stories to tell with every scratch and mark on the knife. I cant argue that it's not expensive cause they are but I do believe you get more use and character out of a knife at this price than a gun you only use at the range and almost never out in public. A gun serves one purpose and it's for self defense and protection and a knife can serve multiple purpose especially striders. Also the warranty is great and will replace it no questions asked.
+Coyote Works lol. but in all honesty the striders especially the newer ones are great. im carrying a xm18 3.5 spanto now in fwf but looking to trade for a smf or sng.
+jennifer baker Lol... For sure. I"m impressed with them. That SMF is the first folding knife I've had that I feel like can handle almost anything a fixed blade knife can.
EDC by AJM Yes I believe it is. It's a pretty hard steel. It holds an edge forever but takes a lot of work to sharpen if I let it get too dull. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, they really know how to heat treat at Strider. I have an SMF in S35VN. I find that if you don't have large chips in the blade that stropping keeps it sharp over a long period of time.
For a folder you gave it a proper test, better than cutting up an empty Amazon box in the back yard. Good work.
Ha..Lol. Yeah...the slicing of the shipping box test. I've seen that one a few times ;-)
Your the only person who actually has a field test, thanks for the awesome vid!

Hello my friend! I just want to ask,the strider smf knife you used in this video was is a strider smf-nsn folder knife? Thank you!
Now that's a EDC / Survival knife in my opinion. Good job making it work a little .Another high five video .
I'm sold on it. It's by far the toughest folder I've handled!
I want to know the backpack you wear on this video !
Nicely done. Two people thought that knife belonged on a shelf gathering dust. You showed them otherwise.

Good video! Was your SMF in S30V? Just wondering. Thanks!

Hi Casey right on man!
From what I gathered during your tests, it's just barely adequate for firemaking. About what I figured.
Utah? Idaho? where did this take place? I recognize a lot of it!

Damn good test!
I cannot believe you did that to a Strider you didn't own...
My instructions were to test it out.... ;-) LOL
for a $400 - $500 knife it better take me to the moon and back

I’d rather buy a Glock 19

@@hvega8199 since I already have a Glock, I’m shopping for a Strider.
gotta love driving the tip in lol

+Aaron Naylor Thanks my friend!
wanna be military type guy...wearing like that is just hilarous IMHO
