Had it on vinyl in the 80's, almost forgot about it. Looking up some other band with sacred in the title, and suddenly I'm 17! JESTERS OF DESTINY & B.O.C. also might be for you, too...

This Monument preceded his times and its charm is still unchanged. Too bad it didn't have a following... Best Black Dragon’s record.

Metallica's song Whiplash was derived from the Sacred Blade '82 demo track Hammerhead. Metallica were supposed to play a show with Sacred Blade in Seattle back in November 1983, but the bay area band blew off the gig, which led to Sacred Blade doing the headlining set. Back then, in the eighties I would receive Sacred Blade demo tapes directly from Jeff Ulmer, himself. Wish I'd held on to some of those letters.
I was at that gig, Sacred Blade jammed at my house in Vancouver and I helped with their setup at the shows. Wild Dogs opened and Blade ended up headlining. That was the night we met Metal Church for the first time. Jeff gave mend my Dad a shoutout on the album and I also did work with him on the logo for the sleeve.
@@bogrot69 Impressive credentials! I turned on to 'em after reading about them in an issue of a Seattle entertainment 'zine called The Rocket in 1982. Wrote away for a copy of the demo with Hammerhead, Salem and Crystal. My first taste of proto-speed metal. I always suspected Metallica copped what Blade were already doing on those first songs. I will always believe it was stuff like Master of the Sun, The Enlightenment and Moon from their '83 demo that lead to Metallica changing up their own sound on RTL. The songs on that album stylistically resemble the Sacred Blade tracks that I mentioned.
A year or so ago I happened to see Kurt Vanderhoof getting some gas where I was doing the same. It was some months after Mike Howe's death. I left him alone and went about my business.
@@linedropperable Thanks for your reply.I have some great memories from that time in my life. We were all such good friends Everyone had a ridiculous sense of humor. I really miss Jeff and sadly Ted passed away as well. I spoke with Will Rascan over Christmas. He told me they had a reunion of sorts and played with a few of the ex members from years gone by. I was close to James as well but we lost touch and Will said he never made the reunion. I remember the Rocket. I used to go to gigs in Seattle all the time. Lots of shows at the Moore. Really good to hear from you ❤

Psychedelic power metal if there is such a genre. Vocals sound like they could have come straight out of the 1960s!

This band is not Progressive, it has nothing progressive, it is Heavy Metal and nothing else... Maybe Melodic Heavy Metal, but it has nothing to do with Progressive, stop following what the metallum phonies say, or even they know how to classify bands as Metal.
