I greatly appreciate the tutorial; for future reference however, I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions: Q-1: When sanding and carving the profile of the blade, I noticed that applying pressure long enough warps the blade left or right. Are there any tips or tricks to ensure the blade stays straight? Q-2: I noticed in this video that the swords are not painted; will applying paints detract from the quality or warp the blade? Assuming it's okay to use paints, what types of paints won't ruin small wooden projects like this? (I don't trust water-based paints on thin wooden sticks, due to the risk of warping.) Q-3: Continuing from the above question, what high-quality metallic / chrome paints would anyone recommend for small projects like this?

For Q1 you might want the blade rest on a position so then the force/pressure from your hand will neutralize and will still be straight.
For Q2,you can just use a sharpie,no warping at all
