I stumbled upon this in Bangor Maine while on vacation last week. I paid $45.00 and the price was right on point for the taste. I still have a quarter left as we spent two night around a fire sampling whiskey on the water.
I was just down in VA and saw this all over the ABC stores there. I passed on it. Based on your review, I'm glad I did. I love Sagamore DO, and thought EC Toasted Bourbon was fine, but not spectacular. I can wait.
I haven’t tried the ECTB Rye but seeing as I hated the toasted the bourbon like you and I can already tell the sagamore DO will crush it so not a buy for me
I am primarily a Bourbon drinker, but I enjoy a Rye from time to time. I always try to keep at least one bottle in my Whiskey cabinet. I think my next Rye purchase will be either Old Forester or Knob Creek 7 Year. Thanks for this review.
Cant believe you missed ASW Fiddler Toasted Rye as a alternative. Cask Strength at 70 bucks it is amazing and list all the details with age and finishing time right on the label!!
Just found this for $45 so I picked this up. It’s waaaayyyy better than their toasted bourbon but I do like the Sagamore double oaked more. Either way, this is a buy for anyone that likes ryes
I’ve only had a couple toasted bourbons and they were enough of a turnoff I haven’t tried any others. Like sucking on a piece of wood…blah. Reluctant to try any toasted whiskey now.
I agree with you Jason. I'm not a fan of any toasted bourbon with the exception of Penelope. Not a big fan of ryes either so probably won't be picking this one up.
I enjoyed the Sagamore DO. Also like the EC toasted bourbon well enough, but I’m being very judicious with purchases until my stores come down. In short, I’m done chasing anything
Agreed 100% that rye takes a finish better than bourbon takes a finish. Layering sweet on top of sweet yields a synthetic taste in a lot of finished bourbons.
And yet ANOTHER gimick whiskey... I am holding out for a Single Barrel Rickhouse Toasted Barrel Proof Double Cask in French Oak Quadrupal Bass with Amburana staves.. no age statement😄it pour like molasse🤑🤑100$ MSRP
@@TheMashandDrum I should have added that I agree with your review. Not a bad offering by EC. I’m glad I found it. Got lucky, but some channels suggest this will be a regular on shelves.
That Sagamore Doube Oak’d Rye is one of the most crushable bottles on the market.
I kind of had mixed feelings about it at first, but I'm enjoying it more and more.
Just picked one up. Looking forward to cracking it open soon.
💯💯💯💯💯
My store has Sagamore DO and Penelope Toasted Rye. Which one to get?
@@davidvoth7218sagamore is better
The Sag DO is very good

The Peerless DO Rye is fabulous.
Peerless double oak is even better than the sagamore DO but agree that both of those probably beat this EC

Penelope toasted rye taste like the Michters to me, but much easier to find and probably paying less off the shelf. Really good.

@@williamwiley5531 yeah someone else mentioned that one. It's a good call-out. Wish it was more available
The ASW toasted bourbon is also a killer
Enjoy the ECTB looking forward to giving the Toasted Rye a try. Thanks for the review
Always appreciate the honest assessment. Cheers 🥃

Appreciate the review. I haven’t seen it yet but definitely on my list to try
I don't think this is going to be a limited release. There seem to be tons of them from what I've seen

Glad you are back, nothing like some time off though!
i’m an EC fan regardless but this toasted rye is crushable. it’s got a great viscosity and milder building heat.
The toasted bourbon with EC really has to open up for awhile. You have to drink thru about a 3rd of the bottle before that bitter astringency fades
I agree with you Jason. I'm not a fan of any toasted bourbon with the exception of Penelope. Not a big fan of ryes either so probably won't be picking this one up.
Spot on, everything you said I said about it when wasI asked about it, cheers and thanks for the review!
Thanks for the review. Was waiting to hear how it was before I pulled the trigger. Sounds like a great value
Glad they put out a solid release 👌🏼
I love the bourbon and want this one. I hope they come out with higher proof options
Great review!
Sure wish they would make these new releases at 100+ proof.
Elijah Craig barrel proof rye ..... Coming soon?
I am the same on typical toasted bourbons. I just don’t like it. Interested to try a toasted rye tho.
I need that Sagamore stat - but I'd crush the EC.

We want a ECBP Rye toasted🤤

Welcome back and right into a triple bass!
How do I claim the bottle I won during the Nancy Fraley livestream?

Got it finally tasty but I think the bourbon toasted is better
Hey, I bet you have never heard or thought about this.. Like to see it at CS!!! LOL
I'm kinda annoyed they did this instead of barrel proof rye
Sagamore is toasted, read the back label
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
ASW toasted rye is much better.

ASW toasted rye and bourbon are both amazing
Not a fan of the toasted bourbon. This sounds promising
its ok nothing amazing
It really sucks for that cat they put on the barrel
