- In 2020, Time-trial cycling specialist Ben Watson MBE made his Paralympic debut in Tokyo. He became a double gold medal winner on the road, winning almost a minute ahead of the cyclist in 2nd place.
Born in Stockport, Ben experienced a rare disease known as Guillain-Barré syndrome, in which a person's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves, leaving him with lasting nerve damage that impacted his movement
Ben Watson is an ambassador for Gain Charity, which supports individuals affected by Guillain-Barré syndrome and related conditions, by providing information, resources, advocacy, and funding for research.
Good luck to Ben this summer as he defends his titles!
