After you mentioned having 40K subscribers (I read 40.5 Thousand!), I checked ANOTHER statistics, which is the "Likes" to "Views" ratio. _THAT_ ratio just happens to be 1:5 - an _AMAZINGLY HIGH_ RATIO! (If folks don't realize the meaning of that, it means that _PEOPLE_ ARE PRETTY MUCH _FOND_ OFYOU! I've seen many ratios more like 1:150 or so, which is sad. 😞). *WE **_DO_** LOVE YOU, AND YA BETTER BELIEVE IT!*
Happy birthday John! The Scottish Horse Regiment was initially raised by the Marquess of Tullibardine. In 1902, the Duke of Atholl organised two regiments with the headquarters at Dunkeld. When the 1st and 2nd regiments were preparing for WW1, orders came thru that they wouldn’t need the horses as they would be part of a dismounted landing in the Mediterranean. They were stationed at Ellington, Northumberland, when orders were given to make their way to Morpeth some eight miles away to catch the train to Seaham on the coast south of Newcastle. Given the 310 horses bar two were shipped the day before, they had to beg borrow and steal whatever horses they could from the locals to transport their gear to the station. When they arrived at Seaham, 2nd Scottish Horse was already there with ancillary units. Due to lack of proper designation of assembly points for each unit, the luggage for all the units including saddles for the invisible horses were stored in the holds of the waiting ships. This was a problem when they needed to get stores out of the holds. Some soldiers never saw their kit again. On 1st September 1915, the Scottish Horse Regiments arrived at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli.
Happy 45th Birthday, John!!!! Just watched one of my other favorite channels from Scotland (Living the Skye Life) just before this!!!! The best treasures from Scotland are the friendly people!!!!🥰🥰🥰
Belated birthday wishes from Oregon! Your birthday was a travel day for me…we got away for some much needed warm weather. You are still a youngster. In fact, you could easily be my son! Though I appreciated the warmth on our trip, I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at staying in such a house and in such a setting as you two there in Mull. Fantastic. Cheers, and ATB!
You will remain my favourite Metal Detectorist John! and I will stay loyal to you, I follow the top three Mudlarkers as well Nicola White, Si finds and Northern Mudlarkers. See Nicola found a Charles1 half penny and another unidentified hammered coin just recently found on the Thames so exciting. And I recently found another detecting channel called Roman Found, two ladies finding some great stuff 😊
Happy birthday young fella, remember you'll never be this young again, not much to dance about in today's detecting but every time you get a musket ball I think of Simon, "there must have been a lot of angry men here", hope your day was good, cheers!!!🥰😘😘💕💝👍👍🙏🎂☕🫖🎉🎉🎁
Really enjoy the channel John and the stories you bring to it; with you we get knowledge with Simon we all are learning together and that's fun too. Thank you for helping Simon, he makes me smile. The fact he has grown so fast is also because of you. We like you enough that when you ask us to go see Simon we did. Out of that friendship we feel towards you. Thank you for that and the great videos hello to Martin too from Ohio. Thanks again John and Hi to you and Yours from the State of Ohio too. As always, some interesting finds. Happy Birthday .
Irn Bru! My favorite drink in the world! Just wished they hadn’t taken out all the sugar. The original is best! Happy Birthday John from Tennessee, USA. Thank you for sharing your finds. The Scottish horse badge is a shoulder title badge. Likely Ww1 as you said.
Happy Birthday John! 🎂🍻🎉🎊 The thing that looks like a nut, looks like the cap off a tube of toothpaste. I see mudlarks and bottle diggers find them fairly often.
On the horses head it looks a bit shiny as if a fresh break, perhaps there's more to find! Was I the only one who shouted" Wilson" when the brush head turned up? 😁
Hate , hate , hate washers. I would rather dig pull tabs. Washers sound so good and then total disappointment. The ground there is very tough on the copper based coins also unfortunately. Gotta say got a laugh from Martins colorful backpack! My detecting friends would have teased me a great deal over that show of fashion had I shown up with it….lol. Best wishes on your birthday my man
Happy 45th John! What a lovely spot to spend your birthday. May God bless you with many more won derful birthdays and adventures! You look fantastic!! Happy birthday from Michigan 🎉🎉
Best kind of neighbours to have. Many happy returns for your 45th. I hope you and your wife enjoyed your treat away - despite the weather. Great views whatever the weather. All the very best. 🎈🎁
I think it is a lot more interesting than he thought. Definitely pre reformation, so medieval. These were often connected to pilgrimages and may be connected to a saintly relic (In this case an ear). This may have been an Ampulla and contained holy water, that part being the destroyed hollow section. The second possibility is that it was a votive offering to be left at the tomb of a saint, in this case to seek help with an ailment related to the ear. Deafness perhaps or infection. Either way a wonderful little thing!
The slow fade-in overlay of the coins is so cool. I'm so glad I found this channel! I think you're well on your way to 100K subscribers by Christmas time :)
Happy birthday John! May this year bring you many blessings and finds! That looks like a nice place to have a lot of solitude and rest…I love Scotland. 🏴❤️(yes, even the weather).
Happy birthday. Thank you to your wonderful wife for allowing you to edit and upload a video. I hope that you had a wonderful break away, that you stayed warm and that the weather improved for you. Take care.

Your mystery object looks like an ear! Maybe it broke off a statue of some kind?
I also thought it was an ear lol
That’s my thought too!
That's what I thought
That is exactly what I came to the comments to say.
I thought that too!

So much discarded lead laying around everywhere there
The item at 8:51 looks like an ear off of a statue, and a very Happy Birthday to you from Georgia, USA.

@@simonwoodward96I would agree. To be more precise it's a left ear.
The slow fade-in overlay of the coins is so cool. I'm so glad I found this channel! I think you're well on your way to 100K subscribers by Christmas time :)
