You just experienced the "communal" nature of the Vietnamese. @ 1:05 the lady owner of the eatery that serve you your food had asked her neighbor eatery owner that makes noodle soup if her customers (you) can sit in her area, her tables, and it was OK. Similarly, your lady eatery owner was trying to explain to you the orange juice would not have sugar, which is made by the other lady who sells only drinks and beverages. My guess is that they support each other in case one place gets too many customers then the other would provide the seating space. Or if a group of customers have different food choice, one wants rice and the other wants noodle soup, then that group would get food from two different eateries. The black chopsticks and utensils in the blue box, and the chili sauce bottle, are on the table so they belong to the noodle soup proprietor. Your eatery owner meanwhile provided the yellow chopsticks and the soy sauce that came with her food that you had ordered. If you had eaten inside, then I think the chopsticks would be on the table inside the eatery. The Vietnamese has another macaroni dish, it's cooked like normal, but served with a light "pho" like broth and ground pork and chopped onions. Great breakfast dish. For some reason, the Vietnamese like to serve that breakfast macaroni in broth w ground pork to their children. They look at me funny when I ordered it as an adult :-)
Haha it’s hard to grow up sometimes 😄 thank you for sharing this information with us. We thought that they were giving us other chopsticks because we were tourists 🤣 it’s difficult to know which tables belongs to each vendor, but the way they cooperate with each other is amazing. Easy people, everything just solves in a smooth way ♥️♥️

if you want the non-sugar cold ice tea (trà đá), just ask for "tra da", it won't have sugar, and it's not on the drinks menu, because it's a basic drink that all restaurants have.
@@dananna8614 It's English name is dodging beef and it's basically steak and eggs (often comes with pate and other stuff, too). It's served in a sizzling hot iron plate and served with a baguette that you can use to make a sandwich or use to dip into the plate.
I love that they put lotta vege in the meal.....I wish there is muslim eatery with this kind of setup there...The only meals i had in vietnam would be in muslim restaurants. If anyone here know a halal place to enjoy eating while sitting in small bench and table like this do let me know...for the sake of experience Thanks :)
There is Halal food street besides Ben Than market,, call One Malaysia street,, But I don't dare to go and eat there,, cut throat price,, the seller use very sharp shaving folding knife to slice your throat,, slowly, deeply, cool slice,, even not a drop of blood dripping from your wallet,, So both I and my wife adjusted our diet, mostly,,, diary product, fruit, and bread,, And lovely Vietnamese ice coffee,, Maybe you and your wife can check that halal street food, if you are still in HCM,, Stay safe and stay happy 🎉
