So as Glen said, let us know your favourite in the genre for a chance to win a copy - good game this. Check Out Big Helmet Heroes on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series and Steam: tinyurl.com/zkr7s82x - Mark and Glen, SwitchUp
My favorite Beat Em Up is so far the first Streets of Rage, but I didn't play a lot of them. I tried out a lot, always alone and always thought it is not my genre. However, as soon as I tried it out for the first time with my sister, we played Streets of Rage and we could really like it. There are still many on our list to play, now this one as well. 😄
This looks like a lovely game to play. The backlog grows evermore 😂 As for my favourite beat-em-up… I mean the Simpons arcade game hold some nostalgic longing for me 😅
“Castle Crashers 2025”. That’s the vibe I’m getting from this game. Such a shame that there won’t be a physical version on day one as I’ve been leery of digital-only titles recently, but at that price and value, I have to buy it. It looks like a great “play one or two levels on weeknights after work” game.
Favorite beatum up for me is definitely some old arcade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 4 buds standing at the machine button mashing, taking down the foot. Ah the memories.
I was sold after the unicorn tea party… I don’t play beat ‘em ups enough to have a favorite but maybe it’ll be this! It looks not only adorable but fun. Love the little sounds the characters make.
Before I got my right hand amputated in 2023, my go to games were 1 player exploration types like Zelda BOTW, Skyrim, Fallout etc. Now I play games where I don't need to control the camera with my kids! Funny how a disaster can bring people together!
There are a lot of obvious choices for favorite beat-em ups, but I have a soft spot for a sorta janky 1997 Eidos PS1 title called Fighting Force. I still love it.
I can’t wait to get my non-gaming fiancé into this one! She loved Kirby the forgotten land and minecraft dungeons so I think this is right down her alley!!!
Wow, this is what my 10 yo son would have asked for - the characters and weapons selection! Think I’ll pick this up later today, can’t wait to play with my son.
Wow, this looks cool! There's a lot of little charming details on display in your review that made me smile. In my line of work we call those "delighters" and these devs clearly see the value in those little touches. The animation looks great, the characters popping up in the foreground to cheer you on are funny, and the action looks fun and frenetic. I'll definitely be adding this to my wish list!
Double Dragon (original arcade version) is my favourite beat-em-up of all time. Why? Pure nostalgia. Back when I first played it in the arcades, I'd never seen anything like it. The co-op brawling & the distinctive enemy characters like Abobos... Absolute classic. Would not have even known about Big Helmet Heroes if it wasn't for this sponsored video. Thank you!
Equally as enjoyable single player? I am an animator and it looks like the style of project I would have loooooved 😍 P.s. Double Dragon or Final Fight arcade for me 💪
Takes me back to playing Castle Crashers in college with my Roomates. Would love to relive that feeling in the modern era. May have to wait for a sale tho
Favourite beat em up would be the original TMNT arcade game. Loved it when I was a kid and still do to this day. Recently played through Shredders Revenge with my 5 year-old-son and we had an absolute blast going through on co-op.
Definitely has that Castle Crashers vibe with the modern graphics. The beat ‘em up I wish they would bring to switch is Mini Ninjas. Such an awesome game. From the Wii days.
Woooo! I was hoping it was going to be good because I was really digging the art style! Glad it was as good as it looks! My favourite beat em up is probably castle crashers. Had tons of fun playing that game in coop!
This looks cool, hopefully its solo replayability holds a candle to Streets of Rage 4. The price point is a bit high, probably waiting on a sale for me
The most memories i have is with altered beast sega. I threw so many coins in the machine. I also really liked double dragon back then. Looking forward to play this one with my son, he loves streets of rage. Thanks for the review
I don't know why, just looking at the gameplay makes me so happy lol. It reminds me of couch co-op with my little brother in games like Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim on our janky 360, 2009 had a lot of those special moments. Thank you for putting this on my radar, I'd love to get this for the next time my brother visits.
My favorite beaten up is back on Sega and is streets of rage 2. There was a character named skate who was on roller blades. I was happy when I got the opportunity to play 4. Beaten ups are best played in co op. So once me and my nephew have some time together this may be a game we end up getting. Looks promising.
Best beat em up? I played soooo many in the 90s! I’m going with Final Fight, that game was just magical when a saw it as a wee lad. On the Switch Streets of Rage 4.
❤ OMG! This looks amazing, thanks for the video! Fan of Scott Pilgrim, kinda loved the comics, the movie and the show. There may be a pattern here, yeah.
Thank you for your amazing review ❤! And yes, we are french and not native english speakers, we found out for the name just few weeks ago haha! But we totally assume this, this is part of the craziness of our IP! The amazing Big Helmets! 😂
This looks neat! The chibi style and characters in the foreground give me Little Big Planet or Puppeteer vibes. I know it's not considered great but I thoroughly enjoyed Spider-Man Separation Anxiety. Don't sleep on that title screen music!
I'm getting this game only for the cute helmets. My favourite Beat 'em up game will always be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. I did like the new one that released on Switch.
I've been playing a lot of the modern retro Beat Em Ups... Shredder's Revenge and Rita's Rewind. This game having its own style is nice. Hopefully they try for dlc heroes. Shovel Knight would be a cool crossover.
Favorite was the original TMNT arcade beat'm up. So many quarters lost to that game. As weird as it might sound, I get Minecraft Dungeons vib, small amount from this game.
I love a hero with a big...helmet...anyway! Not normally a huge player of beat em ups, but I have enjoyed my time with Shredders Revenge and still need to pick up Rita's Rewind.
This game looks sooooo good! I can't wait for my 35 year old ass to get a hold of this badboy. I really enjoyed the new streets of rage, but honestly, the only beat 'em up I've played in a long time Maybe this game can rekindle a lost love ❤ peace out from Wales, my dudes!
@@georged7627i understand your point of view 😅 maybe thats me the one of the team and i even don't know! If the fact say its me, i would have to admit my memory is wrong i guess!😮

My favorite beatemup has to be the old Sailor Moon one on SNES. I was, still am, a huge Sailor Moon fan since I was like 5 or so and even tho I was awful at beatemups, I'd never give up trying at least lol. It didn't help that it was an import and I didn't understand anything text wise. Also, imagine my surprise to find out there is a Sailor Moon RPG, like Final Fantasy basically which is another of my faves, in Japan. Sucks it was never officially translated 😭
I doubt many people will classify this as their favorite beat 'em up but mine is the first Gekido game on the PS1. It's the first game that I've played on my PS1.
As a kid, my favourite Beat 'em Up was Turtles In Time. I still have vivid memories of playing that game at a friend's house. So, when the Shredder's Revenge was announced I was thrilled to see how much it reminded me of Turtles in Time. Well, I can say it definitely lived up to and surpassed my expectations. When I was a kid the only family friendly pub near us had a Golden Axe arcade cabinet, and I used to play it obsessively with my brothers… right until the ‘new’ smaller 50p coins came out (yes I’m that old!) and then it stopped accepting our old-style giant 50p coins. That day was devastating. Great game though!
I used to love Tobal No1. Not a very well known game maybe, but the art style was beautiful. Unless that’s my memory playing tricks as it was a lonnnnnng time ago.

Big helmet... lol made me giggle. Would be worse if the name was Mushroom Cap Captains 😅
Not played anything in this genre to be honest, no one to play with to inspire the purchase 😢
Castle Crashers is a good time
Scott Pilgrim vs the world
I dont have any favorite in this genre as i ve never tried this genre 😅 so this one would be my favorite if i got to try it out ! 😁😄
This is what a modern castle crashers would have looked like to me, I was always surprised there wasn't a follow up!
Exactly what i thought. Isometric castle crashers. Gonna buy this now lol

In terms of beat em ups I still love the Double Dragon series staring Billy and Jimmy Lee. Oh wait... "Bimmy and Jimmy"?

I remember a very angry Nintendo fan loved that series.
Castle Crashers! I have fond memories of playing 4 player local co op

I’d say my favorite beat 'em up is Streets of Rage-it looks amazing, and I love how it stays true to the original while keeping that retro vibe. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Streets of Rage 2 for Genesis. The controls are spot on and the music is incredible.
