They are so brainwashed that when the girl returns unscathed, they kill her because they think she must die in order for the sacrifice to work.
Took me 3 watches to get that, ngl, plus the visual bars when ciri chops the bauk's head off, it's basically like ciri killed that woman, who was to be sacrificed

So, I guess that kind of opens it up for player choice but whether they go the Cyberpunk limited choice route or AC Odyssey's everyone's in option will be interesting. well... houston we have some problems here: - ciri dont have or dont use her powers - gerald and yen would never allow her to become a real witcher - females cant survive the trial of grass (its explcitly said they try but it is impossible) - never has an adult undergo the trial of grass and survived - ciri cant use witcher signs because she is a conduit of raw magic - nobody know anymore how to make a new witcher sorry in mean "hell yeah" trailer is super awesome, i love witcher and thats witcher 4 so i love it.
In book 4 its stated her blood is the key to make new and better witchers since the knowledge of the trials was lost with the wolf school The games stray heavily from the books and only take inspiration. So most likely she and or some other third parties figured out how to make the trials more efficient using her blood and ciri was the first one to try the new method using her blood. It's also within reason that since her destiny is in her own hands she talked geralt and yen into helping her become a new generation witcher or went against their judgement and sought out a way to do it anyways. Geralt already made her a witcher in wild hunt so if she found a way to make the trials more efficient then I can see geralt letting her do it. She also most likely wanted to be free of the burden and power since she fulfilled the prophecy and be a witcher like geralt instead, which the trials would take her time and space powers away.

The devs are clueless like the Dragon Age devs and fans are already pointing out all the major flaws. Majority of the witcher 3 devs have all left as well. Nothing wrong with Ciri being the main character but are the Devs working on Witcher 4 even aware of the lore?? Majority of the old devs have left CDPR and these new devs seem to be following the path Netflix took. Ciri for one cant become a witcher. Her elder blood rejected the attempt in the thrid book when she was experimented on. She can't learn signs and drink toxic witcher potions as well. Its well established in the books and three games. The mages that conducted the trial of grasses are mostly all dead and the few alive swore to never conduct such horror again. None of the witchers willingly became a witcher. Not just any mage can conduct the trial of grasses and needs someone with experience and even then success is slim. Also there has never been a sucessful female Witcher. None. Geralt and Yennefer are absolutely against such experimentation has they both suffered and cant have kids. They swore to never let Ciri go through the horrors they went through. This will fail horribly and already old time fans are calling out CDPR. Why not just make Ciri the main protagonist and keep her elder blood powers? Horrible use of lore and lazy writing.
Yeah, as a long time Witcher fan and lover of the lore, this line of complaining is so blatantly stupid. First, lets not act like the games have ever followed perfectly to the lore of the books. They change things, as well they should, when changing the medium. Second, you don't even know what explanation they have yet for Ciri being able to take the Trial of Grasses. We don't know what changed with her after the ending of the third game. Combine that with Yennefer's help and perhaps a new way of administering the Trial, are you really so positive it's impossible? Is it really so hard to believe they'll come up with a reasonable explanation? You've watched one trailer and are already complaining about an explanation you haven't even heard yet! You've watched one trailer, seen one lore discrepancy, and rather than going "hmm I wonder how they'll explain that and how it'll affect the story" you've decided "this will fail horribly." That is an absurd overreaction. Even IF they have a poor lore explanation for how she became a Witcher, that is like, the most minor thing I could practically imagine. The Witcher 4 is not going to be made good or bad by the explanation they have. It'll come down to many more, far more important things.

They both suffered from experiments and Ciri is their beloved daughter. They swore to never do that to their daughter so she may have a child which they were denied of ever having. Geralt and all the Witchers were not willing participants of the trial of grasses. So again why on earth would she do purposely take the trial when none of the Witchers alive ever want to go through it ever again and want to kill the mages that experimented on them? Defending such poor writing is the reason Dragon Age failed so badly. Why ubisoft is going bankrupt and being bought by tencent. The disaster Bioware had from Dragon Age is making them distance themselves from it so they can salvage Mass Effect. Fans of the series will not support this crap and it's been proven time and time again with dev studios facing massive layoffs or are being bought over like Ubisoft. Fans are the consumers and without their support they are nothing.

Great reaction, one thing that CDPRipoff has shown that they can do with their most recent release of Cyberpuke, they sure can make a good cinematic. I can't wait to see what lies they will spin and tall tales they will boast about to get this money grab. It's become an industry standard with some to create garbage that won't even run on day one. Then produce patch after patch, yet they call it a game. A finished product. Then release a DLC to their attempted game to make it appear that they have a finished game.
