      You are welcome. I have also found the Back on Track boots to be of great benefit when it is cold at night.

    Cecelia- We purchased a rescue horse (Paso Fino) with “fallen fetlock”. Couldn’t bear to have her put down. She is such a sweet girl.

      Thank you for your comment. Have you used any of my suggestions to help this horse? I have also found using DMG really helps repair the ligament.

    I’ve got a mare with really low fetlocks hasn’t went lame bc of ur vet isn’t concerned about it was hoping to be a barrel horse don’t know if that’s in her future or not

      I have found certain supplements really help this issue. In particular, DMG (dimethylglycine). I believe DSLD/ESPA to be the product of a mutation in the methylation gene, meaning the proteoglycan that forms from injury or strain cannot be cleared and accumulates. I give my mare who has this DMG - 1500 mg/day (Rory has passed), and she is no longer swelling and never lame. She still has dropped fetlocks but is stable and happy. However, I do not think barrel racing would be appropriate for your mare because of the athletic stresses that would be placed on the fetlocks and possible permanent injury because of this methylation issue. Just my $0.02.

    Are there tests you can do to find out if your horse has DSLD?

    • @ceciliavohl3494

      Yes, there are tests, including an ultrasound to look at ligament damage and a "stress" test done by your veterinarian involving holding the fetlock in a flexed position and seeing how the horse responds.

    Do you recommend this for horses with DSLD only and no injury? If so would you need to rewrap daily?

    • @ceciliavohl3494
      @ceciliavohl3494 2 роки тому

      This protocol is for dropped fetlocks from any cause. I usually would take the wraps off every three days and leave off for 12 to 24 hours; then rewrap.

      An Avant LZ30-X. If you are interested, I can facilitate that purchase for you. They are running about $5,000 now. So worth it!

    How long do you leave them on for? Thank you

    • @ceciliavohl3494

      I usually kept them on for about three days, then left them off so the leg could air out; then re-applied after 24 hours.

    Great, but why is he so skinny?

    • @ceciliavohl3494
      @ceciliavohl3494 2 роки тому +1

      He was so skinny because he tore the left hind suspensory back in April 2020 and is a hard-keeper.
