I agree with Ross. Like there's always a loophole or some small thing that could've helped, but in the end, they still did disgusting things. The abuse and past of killers can be tragic and sad but it definitely doesn't justify their actions. It's simply an explanation, not justification.
Very well said. And with the new Netflix show it really humanized him in some parts. (Spoilers ahead) Especially when he was hesitant to kill Tony. You could really tell how he didn't want to do it, but the temptation was just too powerful. I definitely feel bad for the child that he was. Having divorced parents, being bullied, and having no friends must've been incredibly hard. But as you said, his past can be sad but it doesn't justify what he's done.

@HarmonyLife No the charming, manipulative killer is more of a movie cliche. Everyone who knew him as a teenager has described him the way he’s portrayed in this movie. People who knew him later as an adult said he was friendly enough and didn’t seem the type to hurt anyone, but he was never described as suave or magnetic. He was considered reasonably attractive by guys in bars and clubs but he usually lured them in by offering money in exchange for photos.

Just out of quarantine boredom -plus a fractured knee cap-(tripped over a #^%%> amazon box -(I waited 3 days to go to ER because 1) I didn’t think it was a huge deal-2) I hate hospitals and the pandemic increased that anxiety. But the 3rd day I woke up and the area around the injury swelled up to nearly the size of a volley ball. ER!!! Anyway -off topic. I have some good “medication “ and relentless malaise -so I started movie binging whatever was free on UA-cam. This movie picked at random. Like the majority of anyone who followed this case - I knew quite a wealth of knowledge about the horrific crimes. I think I my continued interest really kicked in when I saw the now legendary interview with Jeff and Stone Phillips. Wow. I was totally unprepared for the content of that interview. Jeff -like many serial killers we’ve come to know-had a personable demeanor. Polite. Very forthcoming. It wasn’t uncomfortable per se to watch - even when speaking of his actions- he is matter of fact -but not malicious. I guess the real stunner there...was his dad. Who appeared to be supportive, caring, loving -and it was evident he carried enormous guilt and regret-that he didn’t help his son more. (The last comment on that “aftermath” subject Is there is a widely believed rumor his parents were either indifferent or distracted with their own foibles-that they didn’t recognize any signs of trouble. But Lionel Dahmer DID repeatedly over many years starting with Jeff’s adolescent years try doggedly to help his son. The mother -also seen in that Dateline classic....was a neurotic nutjob who owned nothing of the entire saga. Pfft Ok so this movie. I watched it - and all I can say first -is, it Is riveting. But not in the way I expected. After viewing -I tried to do some other tasks, mundane paperwork, for instance -and my mind just seemed consumed with the movie. So I watched again. Here is my honest opinion. It may not be popular opinion - it probably will piss people off But watching this film - I was so engrossed in the superb aspects of the timeline, the spot on feel of that era, (I’m 4 years younger than Dahmer ) And the incredible -just jaw dropping work from every actor in involved. Nothing overly melodramatic-but nothing watered down. Ross Lynch.... is never heard of this young man. But he truly is the only person who I think could disappear so completely because of that. He studied his character so well. He carried himself -the hunched posture, the bottle thick glasses -the 70’s feathered hair. And the often ambiguous expressions. Jeffrey Dahmer apparently didn’t smile much. ( I can relate ) but when he did -it was like the sun came out for a second Now the unpopular opinion. After watching nearly back to back -I realized what made the film so compelling. Because right up to the last few seconds -when you see Jeff driving off into the twilight-picking up a hitchhiker-and the credits roll, if you can suspend imagination for a moment, this film could have been anyone’s experience in high school. The feelings of insecurity, isolation, the pain of family dysfunction, the established cliques that every high school has. The feeling of not belonging anywhere. But Jeff DID have friends, he did have a father at least that tried to encourage him. Although -later, like during the dateline interview, Lionel Dahmer remarked that had he known his son was having attractions to the opposite sex, he would have tried to change him through therapy. Pffft. Jeffrey Dahmer was a memorable person -from the class of 78’ @ Revere High School. Had he never been heard from again -he wouldn’t be one of the invisible, non distinct kids. He had forged this zany reputation as a prankster-he had a club named for him!!! A very powerful film. And definitely a different light.
I think as spectators of the film, we have to keep in mind that while there is room for an explanation - maybe even empathy, for Dahmer's mental health and difficult struggles growing up, we cannot glorify who he was. There is absolutely no room for justification in what horrific crimes he committed. Yes, I do agree that he needed help, and I understand the extreme difficulty of mental health issues, the alcoholism he went through, etc., but while some may wish these issues were better portrayed, don't let these issues overshadow what he did. It is merely explanation - not justification, and this explanation opens up conversations revolving around these topics, but keep in mind that many of the victims' families, friends, etc. have to live with the fact that he murdered their loved one. We have to remember the victims' lives ended just as we watch a film about Dahmer's life. These are just my opinions, and please let me know if I said anything that is disrespectful or insensitive to the victims.
Hey buddy that scene in the house where he nearly kills his high-school "friend" near the end of the movie , is some of the most powerful acting I have ever witnessed in my life. You are a phenomenal actor !
i agree with him a lot the film shows what he went through and that still doesn’t justify for him to do what he did but he was obviously not in a mental state and nobody really helped or stopped to talk to him. So in a way i feel bad but i still don’t think anything he did was ok.
Tbh I’m younger, way younger than him and I know who Jeffery Dahmer is. But also I’m fascinated with documentaries about serial killers or sci-fi or horror movies I love so it’s pretty cool finding out who he was at first XD 😂😂
Most people don't talk about serial killers and the details about them because they were so gruesome and unfortunately there are many many cases now and it's always a difficult subject to talk about because no one knows if they were actually insane or they just wanted to. And most parents don't want to explain to their kids that the world can possess people who do this.
i also want to address the vile few of you who glamorize dahmer because of his past. there's a big difference between empathy and sympathy!!! it's okay to empathize and try to understand what they felt, but sympathy is pity. don't pity a SERIAL KILLER. you can feel bad for their past but don't say "they did what they did and it's all their parent's(or whoever/whatever happened) faults.". no one will ever understand the true psyche and reasons people kill people. Also i'd like to add that humans truly are individually unique. there are people who have experienced the same amount, or more, trauma with worse/similar mental issues and don't do this. you people need to stop coming up with brain facts and trying to convince yourself and others why him, and other killers, kill. in the end it's murder and assault and it's disgusting.
@jordan belfort Oh Thank God, Jordan for people like you who can see deeper into Jeff's soul as he proves he surely did have one rather than be blinded by all this hatred of something no one can understand & the press just fed off of. There's been allot of attention on Jeff Dahmer's situation lately that really needs tho be turned around to the reality of it. He stated he couldn't even live with himself and let that black SOB kill him. I'm not gay or bi but I'd happily befriend him & help him any way I could. I'm soooo upset by this whole thing. We'd be the same age now & Jeff had innate opportunities that would have proved him valuable to society had he been steered in the right direction and allowed to blow off this accumulation of bad thoughts & what others are saying about him being evil & a monster. I had a few dreams about him that were so REAL!! I wish him all the peace in the world the afterlife has to offer. Scarver will answer to his own bad karma & anyone else involved in that brutal horrible & most unnecessary death.

I just spent 1.5 hours responding to you with some really important, factual & enlightening thins about Jeff it looked like a desertation, but you would have appreciated it...now I can't find it - I saved it & it just disappeared. I'm already wicked upset about everything that went on with Jeff. Here's a guy who could have made great contributions to society having been steered in the right direction with even 1 friend he could decompress with. Jeff & I would be the same age last May. I have low vision so I want to scream!!! I'm not gay or bi but I would have happily befriended Jeff - I had some very REAL kismet type dreams about him!! Scaver, the SOB will deal with his own ugly karma for what he did...there was way more too - AAAHHHH!!!!!!

I was ostracized as a young kid, alone, a vision disorder that I've made my way through on my own but never liked people & had 2 parents I wonder how I exist; another Lionel & Joyce.

And so did Calum Worthy lol. You know what this is though? Post Disney Channel Star Syndrome. You know wither females they would go sexual when their Disney career is over? Well with the guys it's serial killers 🤣 Which is good though. Disney Channel Stars deserve to grow up too!!!
Jessie Chan I’m not saying it’s a bad thing I was just saying how it’s cool that they can play diverse roles and can switch their acting modes, true talent.
@@naylagreen5108 ......I never acused you of that.
Pfft
Ok so this movie. I watched it - and all I can say first -is, it Is riveting. But not in the way I expected.
After viewing -I tried to do some other tasks, mundane paperwork, for instance -and my mind just seemed consumed with the movie. So I watched again.
Here is my honest opinion. It may not be popular opinion - it probably will piss people off
But watching this film - I was so engrossed in the superb aspects of the timeline, the spot on feel of that era, (I’m 4 years younger than Dahmer ) And the incredible -just jaw dropping work from every actor in involved. ( I can relate ) but when he did -it was like the sun came out for a second
Now the unpopular opinion.
You wrote a whole essay and still missed the point..
@@bobstacks8405 she missed the pint but I get it
Never thought a Disney actor would nail playing Dahmer 💀
I hate when movies are made about these monsters, it's as if we're romanticizing the whole serial killer thing.
I think he did a really good work in this movie.
scarily, dahmer would've loved this guy lol
Right I was thinking that when I watched the movie. Creepy
maybe loved him a little too much
youtube is really recommending this all of a sudden huh💀
Wow Ross really did his research👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The house is 25 minutes from me
i wanna go into that house on halloween
@@createhoe2913 u so lucky i wish i could go
Why are the only 4 comments recent😂
Ross was such an incredible actor in this I was am extremely impressed!!!!
I haven’t seen anything from Ross Lynch since Disney and honestly he’s a great actor, and in this interview he’s super professional
Lmao the music between each section of interview has me wheeezingggggggg💀💀💀😭
Ross Lynch talks like Jeffrey Dahmer too. 😂
Hey buddy that scene in the house where he nearly kills his high-school "friend" near the end of the movie , is some of the most powerful acting I have ever witnessed in my life. You are a phenomenal actor !
Re-enactment by evan peters todays netflix is most detailed scenes I've ever seen most of the serial killer films.
i agree with him a lot the film shows what he went through and that still doesn’t justify for him to do what he did but he was obviously not in a mental state and nobody really helped or stopped to talk to him. So in a way i feel bad but i still don’t think anything he did was ok.
This guy is deep, he thinks before he speaks….
ross as jeffrey dahmer made me deadass go head over heels like an idiot
Tbh I’m younger, way younger than him and I know who Jeffery Dahmer is. But also I’m fascinated with documentaries about serial killers or sci-fi or horror movies I love so it’s pretty cool finding out who he was at first XD 😂😂
I filmed the murder locations where he killed people if you want to see them
Same
@@InfamousCrimeLocations really?
@@vitoscalettagaming4007 Yeah. It's on my channel
@@InfamousCrimeLocations thanks i'm a big fan of horror and stuff like this so thanks
I think it's insane how they filmed at his real house! Made it feel very real
I think Ross did really well as dahmer, the way he acted like Dahmer was really good.
It’s weird seeing someone from Disney play a serial killer
Same. I also got chills watching zac efron as Ted Bundy.
My younger brother looks like Jeffrey dahmer 💀
🗿🗿🗿 oh…
But the mall scene was freaking hilarious
I don't see Dahmer, I see Austin
Austin Dahmer
Jeffrey Moon
Ross Dahmer
Jeffery Lynch
He did such a great job in the movie !!! And he looks just like Jeffery in the movie
It's insane to think this was two years ago dear lord
Great performance & interview, Ross!! Yes, he needed a good friend. (I'm his age now)
@jordan belfort Oh Thank God, Jordan for people like you who can see deeper into Jeff's soul as he proves he surely did have one rather than be blinded by all this hatred of something no one can understand & the press just fed off of.
@jordan belfort Jordan, Thank you for responding & for there being people like you with a real soul as Jeff obviously did too.
@jordan belfort Ooooo, and St. Lionel Chemist always father of the interum you would think he & Shari could have taken him out to celebrate his graduation rather than leaving him home alone in an empty, dark house. My 1st University course was Anatomy, I was always interested in bones & how the vicera works and my parents totally encouraged this with large print kid books about the human body, acetate layovers & extra large visible woman. I was ostracized as a young kid, alone, a vision disorder that I've made my way through on my own but never liked people & had 2 parents I wonder how I exist; another Lionel & Joyce.
@jordan belfort I couldn't agree with you more, Jordan. How could they?? Freakin COLD stuff.

Listen to "The Beast" by Concrete Blonde...Every time I post it it gets taken down.
Ross is a very professional person I love how professional this interview is gotta love him one of the most amazing actors ever 😌❤️❤️❤️
Man Peter Evans blew this shit out the water
did you even watch My Friend Dahmer? It's a tight movie
Evan peters ***
I didn't know who jeffrey dahmer was until I turned 15
I think he did amazing at acting this part out. I had no idea it was Ross Lynch.
The music at the questions is so off for the theme of this vid 😂
Both Jeffrey Dahmer and Ross Lynch were born with moon in Pisces in Revati nakshatra. Hence the close resemblance and the thought process especially .
So true. My father, high school teacher, cousin and driving instructor have a Pisces moon and they all share a close resemblance and thought process to Dahmer And Ross Lynch.
Help Desk I just looked up their moon sign and they’re both in Aries....
How did he not know who he was
RIGHT that’s so weird to me 😂
He was born after Dahmer’s time and with his work with Disney and music kept him extremely busy and sheltered in a way. Also people don’t always tend to just randomly research serial killers. But clearly not knowing who Dahmer was helped him in the best way!
You guys need to remember around that time some of us weren’t born dumbass unless most of you guys that keep saying “how do not know” are like 35+
I thought The thumbnail showed an actor from my country who died 10 years ago. You should look at the similarities! Antonie Kamerling!
He honestly looked just like him
He fits the character n looks really good
I could see Ross Lynch as Acquaman.

0:49 “so that was, I think that was kinda actually probably nice”
i feel bad for jeffrey. i don’t know why. but there had to be something that was so messed up in his mind to drive him to do that because i mean obviously that’s against all human instinct to just kill someone.
Indeed. I feel like he just didn't have anything to lose anymore and let himself go. If he had someone to talk to and had a better living, if he lived today, he might not have commited those crimes...
