From a parents perspective: if you’re looking at shifting back home, commit yourself to a time frame. Us parents really want to help you out but we have our own lives too
Sometimes it helps to write down your goals in a positive way, such as "I save X dollars per paycheck to invest" and " I manage my money well by substituting healthy activities for online shopping," and then taping these onto your bathroom mirror, the inside of your front door, your car radio, or anywhere you are most likely to see them daily. This will give you confidence and help you feel positive about the process of changing your spending habits.
Thank you so much for the awesome tips. I love the tip on downgrading to upgrade. I'm in the process of transitioning and I just went from my own apartment to a room for rent temporarily. I'm saving over $200 thank you
I really love the point you made on having monthly or weekly money dates with your partner!! This is so important to me because my father talks to me about money all the time and so it’s imperative my husband does the same with me!!
Banks are a scam. I do business with a credit union. there's a credit union somewhere for everyone. my credit union charges $1.00 for money orders & cashier checks. the bank across the street from me charges $6.00 for those. my credit union is a 3.5 mile walk. i get good exercise walking there.
Another Great Video! U sound like my Drill Sergeants when I was in the Army. They taught me that can't isn't a word or an option! It's I will or I will try. That's the way we have to be about our money if we don't plan to grow old & be a begger. I see some old ppl holding up signs saying I'll work for food or please help me. Some I give to, but some I see a scam. I saw some ppl claiming to be immigrants. I wonder who wrote the signs & how they learned English so quickly? U give such great advice! GOD BLESS U SISTER!!!
I need to thank you about information you linked me to when my credit score had suddenly dropped with no more debt than previously. I made a charge on my discover card, and my credit score went right back up! Thank you for your knowledge and research.
Wonderful information. I have actually asked people who seem to be pressuring me to do something financially unwise if they are going to bail me out if things go wrong...when they get quiet and give me that "you're trippin" look, I say ok then, Stop! I have other plans.
Some really great ideas. It is NOT necessary to have meetings with a "partner", only with a spouse. A spouse is legal, a partner is NOT. NO one is legally responsible for a partner, only a spouse.
@@Sky-Child In the US, your credit score is based on a FICO score. Each individual, even if married, has their own score. Unless you co-sign a loan with someone, you are not responsible for their debt or spending habits. Your FICO score is calculated as follows: Payment history (35%), Amounts owed (30%), Length of credit history (15%), Credit mix (10%), and New credit (10%).
@@daricej9753 Ask them if they have debt and what kind of debt it is. Do they have a large amount of credit card debt, is it a car loan, a mortgage, personal loan. If someone is hiding their finances, they are probably in debt.
I have been doing coffee dates instead of lunch/dinner for a year now. I still have much needed social time and am saving money.
Love the tip of choosing to get coffee over dinner with friends. Much less expensive and you dont need to tip necessarily
My friends and I do book clubs and game nights. Also walks in the park and along trails is a great way to be in nature, spend no money, and be active!

Fair enough!!!
Very true, and that "child" needs to remember they need to obey house rules.

@Tavari True, but instead of a bank, choose a brokerage firm. some require only a $100.00 minimum to open. do your research. I hate banks.

How would you know if they are spouse material? The meeting is a good idea regardless.
Are you not legally linked on your credit score with someone that you live with? Partner, spouse or roommate? (Maybe it's different here in the UK)
