me and my ex saw them live in 2014 at the backspace venue in fayetteville, arkansas. we were 16, and i still remember it clear as day her being on my shoulders when this song came on, both of us screaming it word for word. we broke up this past february.. miss ya, Ari.
Her hair was in her eyes And I could hardly hear her hum In the midst of everyone Tripping up your words and slurring speech With 'I never meant to's,' 'you're better without's' Division like all is inevitable Some day, she's gonna realize But I hope, for my own sake The day will come too late I was sitting on a curb tasting earth My half-closed eyes drenched in salt And she was smoking a cigarette Her bitter heart thought this was my fault She sucks my blood, she tears my guts She must hate me for something I've done It's not genetics or DNA but geography The place she was raised Some day, you're gonna realize But I hope, for my own sake The day will come too late

Totally agree. Mad respect for their new stuff, but like... Personally for me the albatross is an actual perfect album. Like it's a 10 out of 10 all the way through. I thought dealer was good too but, not the same. And this early stuff is cash money B-)
This comment is 7 years old, but I also think this is their best song. I also think that that drawing of Camus' silhouette with an image of the Myth of Sisyphus inside his face is amazing and I wanna use that as a concept for a tattoo eventually. The drummer is counting triplets in 4/4 that’s why you rhythm illiterates are all confused. He’s not “off time” he’s just swinging in the beat instead of simply being a metronome
fuck finally somebody who knows whats up. The drummer in this band is a creative genius..my favorite works of his are this, the medic, and the Magdalene. If you haven't already i'd check those out if you dig him. Also if your just into good drummers in general the drummer of Polyphia, his name is Clay Aeschliman, is highly recommended. He's been my personal favorite ever since i found out about this band which is funny cause pretty much ALL the hype around the band is focused on their lead guitar. But yea..the drummer..pure sorcery. Let me know what you think if you end up checking them out
The drummer is insane. The final verse on Inuit really shows this. And it's crazy to me that people think he's off time, some people need to open their ears smh
I’ve been listening to Foxing since The Albatross, and this is the first time hearing this. I’m so upset because I’ve been missing out on this the whole time.
Curl, girl, yessir If this is Jon drumming, he's literally the spine of this whole band lol. Dude gets no recognition for it, but he's a straight up creative monster on drums and this band would sound absolutely nothing like they do without him.
ok... there's 1 or 2 times in the intro, and then he corrects himself near the end of it. that's it tho. who cares, i like the trumpet and the groove that i was not expecting from these guys
yahh, you get your trumpet on boys lol. nice drum groove too. wow, they've really developed nicely with the times. ffs, everyone saying the drums are off have to expose themselves to more technical drumming... i guess they're all off timing too lol
@@kpgpwi64 i think you're right, it's not some advanced math shit, but he IS deep in the pocket. the push/pull feel of the tempo is called rubato and it makes the intro groove incredibly hard for anyone with musically competent ears. if it just sounds wrong to you that's a skill issue.

the way i see it, this song deals with drug/alcohol use, self-esteem issues, and trust issues in a relationship. "one day you're gonna realize" how much someone meant to you, and in a way, forgetting and moving on is better than lingering in self defeat and regret. the refrain is heavy as hell, because the narrator seems to want his lost love to be too happy to look back, or more importantly, not let them both be dragged down by a love that didn't work out.
wait... how is it off time? lol, it right to me Joseph Lozano he's was just playing behind the pulse a bit, that's all. it's consistent, therefore you know he is meaning to play it
