I think old lego technics like this one were better than today’s! If you see, today’s lego technics use regular lego pieces as well! I think it’s to reduce development and manufacturing time.
Building it at the moment Myself, just taking my time, I have converted mine to Right Hand Drive instead of it being Left Hand Drive (as I live in Australia)

@@xenosmoke8915 i don't know how late I am or if you already got it, but unless he's built some lego technic sets before it might be pretty tough(as funny as it sounds building a lego set). If he has already built some lego technic sets before however, please by all means get him one of these, but if not I would recommend the technic zr1 corvette. Its a great build and is super fun!

Only issue with this set is that it starts with 2 pieces provided 1x in the whole package and no numbered sleeves. The axle was especially hard to find.
Btw if you wanna save your money there is a company that released the same exact set with the same element and instructions but it costs 50 pounds not 130
No but it has many places to put motors and battery box’s such as to the left of the driver seat and you can remove the engine and put a Lego motor and loads of a other spots to run the wires through

I have many of the newer Technic sets and there are very few regular Lego bricks..
The 42096 has regular ones as well. All new Technic have about the same number of regular pieces as well
I do not miss the non numbered bags of old technic or old lego
