What do I think? It is one of the most interesting and straight-forward UI design I've seen, the whole style feels minimalistic and futuristic enough to make it feel like a proper game from a high level simulation franchise, while still having a strong identity and style to it
i am glad you mentioned Dirt 2, its UI has one of the most fresh designs i have ever seen, not futuristic, neither elegant or all that shit, just pure style, and remember the checkpoint markers that would appear on the road to mark your current time and progress? when you destroyed them, it would dissipate into fragments and they always felt like i hit some sort of foam or sponge, the UI had exactly the same feeling when the particles would merge to show you your data as a driver and the challenges you had to do in order to progress, all of that while Travis Pastrana was talking with you in the background, it was a wonderful experience just from the UI design.
Vision, Commitment and Proper design style. These are the things that are missing in many racing games today. 100x superior than the bland Forza Motorsport games. Like imagine a GRID 3 with THESE aesthetics!!! and yet Codemasters and EA still refuses to open their eyes...

I know I am late to this post but for me PC1 is my favorite out of the three. I love the lighting in that one and details like if you are sitting on a road that is a incline and you have the gear engaged the car will sit there and not move, but if you depresse the clutch or put it in neutral the car will start to roll backwards as it should, like in real life. If you're driving a stick and decide to downshift while entering a curve and you downshift in too high of a Rev the rear end will break traction like you would expect in real life at least. I experienced that when driving the BMW M3 in the game. The suface of the tires get diry if you go off the tarmac and better detail in crashes and I actually saw an A.I car wind up being upside-down after crash. Also the engine sounds are better to me in PC1 and I like how the cars handle in this version better. Again I personally believe since the 4K60 patch that came out in 2017 for this version, it plays better and looks better than when it first released in 2015. As someone who owns all of the Forza Motorsport games except for motorsport 8, The car handling after all these years still feel more realistic than Forza and they gave you more tweaks and settings for the controller than Forza ever did.

@@gargaj so... could you tell us IF there is a game in development that is Project Car 1 & 2-ish, but not with that title since i assume that Evil Arts also bought the rights of the name?
Project CARS 3 despite its MANY flaws. The one thing that really did matter which was gameplay is AWESOME. Well... what I mean by gameplay is the physics, which was its biggest downfall for fans but for me and many newcomers was my favorite aspect. An arcade based simulator, that's really fun but semi-realistic which is how I learned how to drive aggressively on the racing sim for more serious simulation games with the way your character auto-corrects in first person to sliding and drifting. The way FWD, RWD and AWD all feel VERY different. The way the cars sound and WOW they sound fantastic for the most part. The way dynamic weather is handled. The feel and gameplay was excellent, however everything else like story, content and support wasn't there.
I don't like the shift delay, like you can't shift again immediately after shifting. Could be a safety feature to prevent over reving when downshifting, but it's really my biggest pet peeve about the game. The tire physics are pretty fun, way more enjoyable than FH at least.
@@shira_yone Never had that problem. Maybe because I'm on a gamepad and almost always using automatic. I tried playing the game just now with manual shifting using two cars the Jesko with its lightning transmission and a maxed out 1990s NSX with a stock manual transmission. Upshifting = zero delays unless it's a manual car with a clutch. Downshifting + zero delay you just can't spam which is no problem considering downshifting while braking still puts the car near redline anyway. Maybe the no spam is the delay you are talking about to which I definitely prefer having that "delay" rather than locking up the wheels for spamming the downshift which I don't do anyway because of redline which is probably why I never had the problem anytime I did go manual shifting.
@@Qimchiy I know why it's there (I mentioned it in my initial reply), but I prefer letting myself make the mistake than getting slapped in the face by the game for attempting it; using no assist should've turn off this feature. I use controller myself, and I always try to downshift as soon as possible especially for underpowered cars and something like Honda that have VTEC, so I can keep the power in higher rev range and not dip into the hell that is low rev. The game will ignore your input if you just downshift that few moment too soon, making you waste a few precious millisecond to realize your input was null and you have to press it again to finally make the car downshift; and it's likely that you have to downshift multiple times before a corner so chances of this happening is more than tripled, me saying it's annoying is beyond an understatement.
We intended what became Project CARS 3 as a "sidequel" to PC2, a quick game we put together in a year or so before the PS5 came out, something less "hardcore sim" where we could experiment with a brand new gamepad handling model and maybe appeal a bit more to the "masses".
