Haha that ending was awesome!! Took me back to when my nephew was 4 or 5 and I showed him how to shift like this. You’re creating good memories bro, keep it up!!!
Ok, the parking brake is not a big deal. It's a cable that likely needs adjusting. Any competent tech should be able to do it < 1 hour labor. There are DIYs on how to do it on FerrariChat too. The fuel filler cap - it might work! You do know that the ignition has to be in the "On" position, correct when you hit the button, right?
The handbrake seems to be entirely normal on those, they usually struggle to pass the annual MoT test in the UK and even at their best it's only a marginal pass, so that's what you get. It's likely that all the electronic modules will need attention, the Magnetti Marelli electronic units, while made of good quality and strong components, seem to be not well soldered on assembly so the connections break down, but, on the up-side, because they use decent components they can often be re-soldered and are ready to go again rather than having to be replaced at eye-watering expense, unlike those used in most modern vehicles where, once they're dead, they're dead. The interior plastics are what they are, they're largely lifted from other vehicles in the FIAT stable and, as they're from a period when their build quality was variable at best they're often tatty, especially on soft top cars and can easily be far worse than these. Really, it's an older Italian car, something is always broken, and if something isn't broken it usually means everything is broken. Most owners live with the hassles for the pleasure of the driving experience...
Some times I am glad we don't have a MoT here in the USA with regular vehicle condition checks, other times I see cars that are barely hanging on and I start to second guess that thought.
This reminds me of an old Top Gear where Richard Hammond makes everyone buy British convertibles and they kept breaking down and he was like "its part of the experience" or something like that lol!
+urgetodrive I believe either Ferrari redesigned the handbrake system or someone developed a system to improve the system, but I distinctly remember the original road tests mentioning the rather ineffective handbrake system quite a lot...
3:33 that’s why broke people can’t own expensive cars (me) anxiety of something expensive breaking, would be a HUGE deal breaker for me. That’s why I drive a Honda :/
I was referring more towards Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren, Rolls-Royce and higher spec Mercedes.. the parts and labor for those are high. But yeah Japanese brands do have high end special models
Pube83 those are a pain to work on. You can do what a lot of people do nowadays.. buy one cheap, smash on it for 6 months and once the cluster looks like a flashing Christmas tree, sell it for a bit cheaper than you got it, to pawn it off quick lol
And then loose to the Supra if you do race because the Supra bro probably has 1000hp or he can be the wanna be Supra bro who owns a mk4 but it’s N/A and is a auto who claims it has 1000whp but won’t pop the hood because he doesn’t want you to know his secret combo
This is one of the best videos about the Ferrari F355 in general and the spider version in particular. Your words only show one thing: Your are a true petrol head know and have the Italian car flair because you know the car faults and accepted them! You can live with then without worries to much, like a human thing. And you know why? Because at the end, the car still running fine without mechanical issues, just little things here and there. Congrats for the channel and the car!
Eric, ya know. What a terrible mistake for the seats to be so narrow and deep. I thought there were more rich pasta loving pizzonos to warrant larger dimensions.
Yes that was a strange comment how the fuck does you know that, I think Strad man would mop the floor with you, but of course you would not care to respond to that
Watching this in 2019 (came to the channel after seeing one of the car stories on Vinwiki and have been binging on the videos, sad that this car burnt to a crisp) and I think this is one of the best looking cars that has ever been made, top five in my list.
It's not entirely up to the clutch though, the wheel side of the gearbox will still be turning and will require the synchromesh to get into any particular gear. If you try to force it into one which is too far misaligned, you can ruin the synchromesh.
I doubt she is going to ruin the synchromesh or anything else. He was paying attention but besides that, there is always resistance if you are shifting into the wrong gear, I think she would need to apply more force than she was to do anything.
I find that on older cars, the seals often leak, and a recharge is a temporary fix. Hopefully it's not that, but a competent AC tech should be able to figure it out in short order.
What's wrong with people wanting to own a Ferrari if they can't afford repairs. It's a car for wealthy people, people who don't work, people with millions in their bank. They don't care if the side mirror is 2 thousand or even if it burns out.
Why does it feel like I am watching Tavarish all of a sudden...?? Hopefully you will somehow get this all fixed up and talk about something positive. Keep it coming bro !!!!!
I never keep my wallet in my back pocket in the car. Just make a habit of taking it out every time you get in. Of course you will curse yourself once you get into the store and realize you forgot your wallet and have to walk back to the car to get it. Oh well ... First World Problems eh?
@Tyler, entry tip....I use the AC cobra method on my Ferrari. Right hand on the top right side of the seat back. Both feet in the -. Almost standing the car at this point. Then left hand on the top of the left side of the seat back. Then slide your butt into the seat. It's much more graceful....almost slick looking. Getting out....both hands on the seat back. Push up, like a reverse push up.
The issue with A/C not working for a long period of time is, that the cooling medium also lubricates the compressor and with no lubrication all the seals inside deteriorate and crack, so you when you decide to refill the A/C it won't hold pressure at all + the bearings in the compressor might get fecked up too.
And the other thing is that if you don't 'exercise' the dash control and flip between heat to A/C every now and again - the mechanism will get stuck either in A/C mode or heat mode.
I was a little worried at the end there that the little one would drop it in 1st... didn't hear any grinding though. Happy bday to the little one though!!!!!
We have an F355 GTS, the air conditioning ECU is underneath the heater valve, the vale wore out and leaked all over the ECU and broke it, £900 fix over here in the UK ;)
I would be more worried about the belts. My brother had an Audi 1.8T engine car, slightly over due on the belt which decided to snap on a motorway and I had a Subaru Turbo that was just approaching belt change. Upon getting it changed, the old belt was starting to fray and perish! You're a braver man than I leaving them!
Great ending to your video. My daughter’s loved riding in my 88 911 when they were that age, it was special Dad time. Love the videos and the exhaust is amazing!!!
That last bit reminded me of when my Dad had a F355 GTS back when i was a kid back in like 2001 and he let me sit on his lap and steer it and shift the gears, i was 7. Lol I'm an obsessed petrol head now at 24 and she most likely will be too, good job man
As a P.O. of a 365GT2+2, everything you say about Ferrari ownership is true. The glorious sounds it would make would stir your soul, but the fear that something would break was bone-chilling. People would ask “What kind of car is that?”, and I would reply “A big Fiat.” After 12 years I couldn’t take it anymore. I sold the beast and bought a MGB and have never looked back. Good luck to you sir and enjoy!
Oh yes indeedy. At the time, oil filters were $50+ x2, fuel filters $60+ x2, and air filters were $75+x3. It needed a whole new exhaust system from the headers back. Was quoted $8000 for steel, $12k for stainless. Too rich for my blood.
Those Ferraris have a "soft touch" rubberized coating on the plastics that tend to melt after a while. That's what is melting, not the plastic parts themselves.
Not a total solution, but something I learned nearly fifty years ago about floor shifted manuals. Put an old unmatched glove over the shifter when not in use. Even an old tube sock. It will help. Although I do not live Kansas, I spent most of my life in California's Central Valley. Hot interiors were the norm in Summer. Be happy the interior is not vinyl. Shorts and vinyl seats in Summer are a bad mix. Thin leather Italian driving gloves also help. They help in freezing weather too, though I doubt you will have the Ferrari out in such weather. Enjoy it. You are living the dream of most young men that they generally can't afford till their fifties, or later.
Your daughter shifting that car is probably the most awesome and cutest thing I've ever seen you truly are a lucky man I hope that one day I can be that successful
Kasra Z Sarabi I live in Kansas and from the end of June through the end of August here it’s honestly too hot for that to even be fun. It can get up to 110 here in the summer.
I've come to the conclusion I'm not very good with a convertible. In the winter it's too cold to put the top down. In the summer it's too hot. There are a couple of weeks in the spring and autumn when it's just right. :-)
Ferrari - hella crazy maintenance. Have fun! Awesome in many ways, so bad in other. They really fucked people with the way the engine is worked on in that.
There's no way your daughter is going to grow up and not be a major car fanatic with her old man having an F355! You are a cool dad sir, great video, keep em coming!
The sticky vents is a problem a lot of cars have from those days, it's the "soft feel" toplayer that is coming loose. Most people just remove the toplayer with either soapy water, heavy scrubbing (no scotch brite!) and a lot of patience or nail polish remover (not without risk). I used the first method on my Alfa 156 & GT.
knowing now that your car has burned, wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to get an auto garage door opener? I mean, the e brake, how hard could that have been?
I love the end with your daughter, I do the same thing with my daughter in my 5 liter Mustang. Top down, full throttle, she shifts the gears. She will remember that for rest of her life!😁
I admire your brave willingness to fund your mechanic's retirement. When I was your age, I DESPERATELY needed a Ferrari. I really really really (x30) wanted one... I bought a Fiat spyder instead. That thing cost me an arm and an eyebrow. Cheap advice: Sell the Italian money-pit and get something sensible. My Dad's Buick is for sale.
Cheap plastic “I build engines and attach wheels to them.” "I don't sell cars; I sell engines. The cars I throw in for free since something has to hold the engines in". Enzo Ferrari
Oh man, I cringed at 4:00 when you mention the fuel block recall that you should, "probably look into."
Me too! Hoping his insurance didn't see this video before they payed out......
Probably should have performed that recall...
When you own a Ferrari you always have an empty wallet,so you will fit in the seat.
Mike Cady You burned him, just like the shifter knob.
lolz
Haha that ending was awesome!! Took me back to when my nephew was 4 or 5 and I showed him how to shift like this. You’re creating good memories bro, keep it up!!!
when he said people always ask how much it cost who else was expecting him to say more than you can afford pal
Ok, the parking brake is not a big deal. It's a cable that likely needs adjusting. Any competent tech should be able to do it < 1 hour labor. There are DIYs on how to do it on FerrariChat too. Teaching your kid how to shift your manual Ferrari from the kids seat, this is how you do it parents! So cool!
now hoovie can import a RHD nsx for her lol
My 13 yo wants to drive a manual, so proud.:)
What you need is something like a Ferrari but much more reliable. Like an NSX.
He could also use an extra 10 grand
Lol..that was cruel bro
nsx is a great car but it will never rival a ferrari...
Josh Dollins maybe not, but it will certainly outlive a Ferrari.
I've never dreamt of owning an Acura as a kid
That's one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard.
Apart from the exhaust noise and maybe the performance, I think I prefer my Ford Fiesta
modded rb26dett sounds 100 times better Or A LFA
Leghisti Traditori della Patria wtf?
All Italian cars sound awesome, even some old Fiats do.
Check out the Lexus LFA

Once the handbrake is properly adjusted, it can hold the car just fine on any reasonable hill. I had the utmost confidence in mine.
As an ex-owner of 4 Alfa Romeos (75, 145, 155, 156) I can completly agree with that.

The last 10 seconds are worth all the likes and positivity youtube can muster from it's cold, black heart.
What happened to this car again?
You said it at 4:04 ish.
If you don't fix it, it'll catch fire.
*And that's what happened*
I was sweating at 2:31. I'm sure ferrari touch up paint is cheap though. As you were.
3:33 that’s why broke people can’t own expensive cars (me) anxiety of something expensive breaking, would be a HUGE deal breaker for me. That’s why I drive a Honda :/
lexus is high quality while still just being toyota parts so if something breaks its not crazy.
I was referring more towards Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren, Rolls-Royce and higher spec Mercedes.. the parts and labor for those are high. But yeah Japanese brands do have high end special models
That's what kept me from buying a v10 M5...
Pube83 those are a pain to work on. You can do what a lot of people do nowadays.. buy one cheap, smash on it for 6 months and once the cluster looks like a flashing Christmas tree, sell it for a bit cheaper than you got it, to pawn it off quick lol
Integra DIY I had a jaguar and it was too expensive to fix so I got a honda. Then I got bored with it and got a Cadillac
What about street punks in their Supras asking you how much did it cost ? Or ensuing a sketchy dangerous race ?
DroidTech and put a "pal" at the end
And then loose to the Supra if you do race because the Supra bro probably has 1000hp or he can be the wanna be Supra bro who owns a mk4 but it’s N/A and is a auto who claims it has 1000whp but won’t pop the hood because he doesn’t want you to know his secret combo
Even though a clean Supra these days is going to be similarly priced :D
David Stein nah supras are cheaper
Dominik depends on what year the Supra is a low mile 1998 Supra turbo 6 speed manual goes for over 100,000
@2:19 My butt cheeks were squeezed to the max with that door so close to that wall....
I just knew he was gonna scrape it, but luckily I was wrong.
The thing with your daughter? Priceless.
This is one of the best videos about the Ferrari F355 in general and the spider version in particular. Buy a Bumper to Bumper warranty from carmax
BUMPER to BUMPER
Oakie Doug knows how to say it.
I think they all but did away with the warranty thanks to DD
AND THEN LIST IT ON AUTOTRADER (DOUG pun seriously intended)
Loved the ending.
it defiantly reminds you why DougDeMuro sold his older Ferrari. I doubt this one will be around too long.
To be fair.... the guy who sold it to you pretty much said this would happen on a regular basis...sooooo.... ya. More than YOU can afford.
Gearhead Daily ....paI!
Ben - I"M NOT YOUR PAL BUDDY!
I'M NOT YOUR BUDDY, GUY!
I"M NOT YOUR GUY,DUDE!
B Hew I'M NOT YOUR GUY, BRO
This has steadily become my favorite UA-cam channel. I’m not really even a car guy, but I watch every video. Great stuff.
This was the ONLY time I was hoping the title was clickbait.
"whether you like it or don't like it, sit down and watch it, woooooooooo" ric flair (circa 1980's)
Dual engine computers. The Sega Saturn of automobile ECU’s.
lmao that sucks to get compared to a Sega Saturn haha
Random fact of the day: "I have the narrowest butt of any automotive UA-camr" 😂
Eric Ortiz I speak on behalf of the entire British automotive UA-camr community when I say this is probably correct
Ferrari's were made for the uptight type of crowds..
Eric Ortiz shots fired at porker
Eric, ya know. What a terrible mistake for the seats to be so narrow and deep. I thought there were more rich pasta loving pizzonos to warrant larger dimensions.
Yes that was a strange comment how the fuck does you know that, I think Strad man would mop the floor with you, but of course you would not care to respond to that

You are a good dad my friend!!!!!!
Travis Lawson a good dad makes sure his precious little girl is wearing her seat belt properly
Adam Rudling and isn't a condescending jack ass, like you.
Travis Lawson From Mountain Grove?
Barney R Conners???? Phil Conners???
MR Islandtime hope you have less friends than me seriously injured for want of proper seat belt use, jackass
ooh,he did mention these things catch on fire, the video i watched before this one was this thing burning.
4:57. That truck driver is low-key jealous of the Ferrari. ^^
Nathan Kim noticed that too..
-and he got to the industrial park first!
That's because compared to his Freightliner, the Ferrari is probably alot more reliable!
Nathan Kim I'm a truck driver. I can afford to buy this beautiful Ferrari. Not all drivers are low key.
Kyles6.7Cummins Dieselguy
How much are you paid?
when they ask how much it costs you should say. "more than you can afford pal"
more polite version would be "if you have to ask you cant afford it"
That ending made me smile...you're the best!
Funny that you mention it catching fire
I hope one day, I can drive a manual with my kid assisting. Wow Hoovie you’re the MAN!!!!! Imagine she accidentally down shifted..😂
Emmanuel Selvas he has a clutch so no worries
Cutest shifter ever ...
It's not entirely up to the clutch though, the wheel side of the gearbox will still be turning and will require the synchromesh to get into any particular gear. If you try to force it into one which is too far misaligned, you can ruin the synchromesh.
This man is a legend... beats my 2.8 diesel Isuzu shifts at 5
I doubt she is going to ruin the synchromesh or anything else. He was paying attention but besides that, there is always resistance if you are shifting into the wrong gear, I think she would need to apply more force than she was to do anything.
That moment when the FedEx truck overtook the Ferrari 😂😂😂😂
AC problems after freon fill.
1- check relay and fuse
2- check pressure switch
3- check compressor.
niacal4nia i have no idea if it will fix his problem but will thumbs up so he can see this comment
It is also a r134a system so it is much easier to deal with.
Worth staying to the end for the last little bit. I think my grin was almost as big as hers.
Nice work teaching them young. Most people today can not drive a manual transmission.
Last time I was this early...
The F355 Still worked.
Ayyyyy lmaooo
3:57 prophecy :-o
Your daughter is cute! Wish I had disabled the airbag in my 911 and let my daughter do that.
Thank you for not going motor trend on us. You have a tv show but still make free content. Thank you.
Italians... they sell you a "bellisimo" crappy car for a fortune and yet you are happy lol
Dario Sansano Americans... They sell you crappy Italian grammar and Super Mario accent as legit as y'all buy it.
thats how cars in italy work haha jk :D
Dario Sansano but it goes VROOM VROOM
Google Cendrum ayyyyyy Spaghett
Hot girls love dudes with Ferrari's, so who cares if it breaks down now and then.
Why does it feel like I am watching Tavarish all of a sudden...?? Hopefully you will somehow get this all fixed up and talk about something positive. Keep it coming bro !!!!!
I guess that's why people unload their Ferrari's, they get tired of those crazy repair bills.
You never should have gotten rid of your NSX. This is why Ferrari’s are abandoned in the Middle East.
Love the car and the videos! Your daughter is adorable!
@4:00 - Prescient vision of things to come -or- your neglecting the recall and regular service contributed to it burning to the ground....
3:15 Well you shouldn't keep your wallet in your back pocket in the first place, it's bad for your posture.
Shiny_Gliscor he’s right you know
I never keep my wallet in my back pocket in the car. Just make a habit of taking it out every time you get in. Of course you will curse yourself once you get into the store and realize you forgot your wallet and have to walk back to the car to get it. Oh well ... First World Problems eh?
I never understood the back pocket wallet. I have two other perfectly good pockets up front. That's where my wallet lives.
I got my wallet stolen because I had it in my back pocket, now i keep it in the front pocket
Best DAD evea!
So true about the anxiety every time you start the car up. Nothing has happened to mine after over a year. So it’s getting better.
I had the same issue with my fuel door on my first 355. WD-40 fixed it.
Who cares about the problems. It makes you look like a baller. That’s priceless.
Chase Vineland but at what price..?
All in bro! My ex-wife cost me more than this 10X 😂
The issue with A/C not working for a long period of time is, that the cooling medium also lubricates the compressor and with no lubrication all the seals inside deteriorate and crack, so you when you decide to refill the A/C it won't hold pressure at all + the bearings in the compressor might get fecked up too.

I was a little worried at the end there that the little one would drop it in 1st... didn't hear any grinding though. Happy bday to the little one though!!!!!
norbert pietrzyk he probably had his foot on the clutch to prevent that from happening.
Then again, it's Hoovie so his foot probably wasn't on it..😂😂
We have an F355 GTS, the air conditioning ECU is underneath the heater valve, the vale wore out and leaked all over the ECU and broke it, £900 fix over here in the UK ;)
Its Ferrari it was manufactured broken :-)
gambini A Ferrari is like a mobster; it's Italian, badass, and takes all your money away😁
gambini I'm willing to bet that Italians and Germans couldn't build a reliable car even if they tried.
The Mercedes 300D W123 doesn't agree with your comment.
Have plenty experience with VW and Skoda and those are pretty reliable cars. MB, BMW, Audi are pain in the butt to service and its pretty expensive
gambini more to the point it's ITALIAN car so buildquality is not best, and because it is ferrari everything is expensive
Great reminder why Doug sold his Ferrari. They're great but definitely the older ones are occasion cars.
Great ending to your video. My daughter’s loved riding in my 88 911 when they were that age, it was special Dad time. Love the videos and the exhaust is amazing!!!
Dang... you are tall!!! And your daughter is so very precious!! Great video.
That last bit reminded me of when my Dad had a F355 GTS back when i was a kid back in like 2001 and he let me sit on his lap and steer it and shift the gears, i was 7. Lol
I'm an obsessed petrol head now at 24 and she most likely will be too, good job man

Martin Tully is it also true that it’s more than you can afford pal?
Oh yes indeedy. At the time, oil filters were $50+ x2, fuel filters $60+ x2, and air filters were $75+x3. It needed a whole new exhaust system from the headers back. Was quoted $8000 for steel, $12k for stainless. Too rich for my blood.
I bet there are guys out there than can fab up a custom system for 1/4 of that with pretty laser cut flanges and pretty tig welds
greg h It's a Ferrari, you'd probably lose more than 12k in resale value with non original parts.
from the headers back? lol you've got to be kidding
Oh the irony. Theres something about a recall that can cause a engine fire......Yep!
That little girl is so lucky. I wish I could shift gears in a Ferrari
Such an underrated thing about your videos: you get right to the point and don’t blab on about yourself for minutes.
You would think that with such an expensive car they would make plastic that could withstand the heat from the heater. Like damn
sarina xoxoxo they didn’t know at that point
true
Its the heat feom the sun
The sun is a deadly laser
Those Ferraris have a "soft touch" rubberized coating on the plastics that tend to melt after a while. That's what is melting, not the plastic parts themselves.
The 355 and ZO6 are my favorites of your fleet. Lovely cars.
REMINDER: Do the recall. So it doesn’t catch on fire.
oh
Not a total solution, but something I learned nearly fifty years ago about floor shifted manuals. Put an old unmatched glove over the shifter when not in use. Even an old tube sock. It will help. Your daughter shifting that car is probably the most awesome and cutest thing I've ever seen you truly are a lucky man I hope that one day I can be that successful
Forget Air conditioning! Just roll with the top down
Kasra Z Sarabi I live in Kansas and from the end of June through the end of August here it’s honestly too hot for that to even be fun. It can get up to 110 here in the summer.

KentB27
Yeah on top of that people don’t realize that it does rain sometimes and windows up at 95 degrees really sucks
KentB27
In the late 90s i saw a guy driving an SLK in the summer, wearing a big sombrero.
Dan _ Lol. That’s amazing that it didn’t fall off.
glad I stuck around for the surprise ending.....it put a big smile on my face. She is getting a head start on international travel. thumbs up 4.7k
Ferrari - hella crazy maintenance. Have fun! Awesome in many ways, so bad in other. They really fucked people with the way the engine is worked on in that.
THE FORSHADOWING OMG
IF THIS VIDEO GETS 100 LIKES TYLER GROWS A MUSTACHE LIKE TOM SELLECK !!!!! (while also wearing a Hawaiian shirt)
Lou G it’s already up to 500 did you mean your comment? Lol
Lou G yes, a little Magnum PI wouldn't hurt..Lol.
Emmanuel Selvas I'm sure lol
Yeah, a pastel pink Hawaiian shirt with 'Hello Kitty' cats all over it.
who's Tlyer?
Front rear three quarter... It's really one of the best looking cars of all time.
next episode: ferrari ls2 swap
I waited too long for my service on my Ferrari as well. I was two months overdue and she went and is now a garage queen.
What's up with the Capri!!!!
you gotta love this guy for his realistic view on life and cars.
Hey atleast it was used in the movie Showgirls.
There's no way your daughter is going to grow up and not be a major car fanatic with her old man having an F355! You are a cool dad sir, great video, keep em coming!
When you mock the car God's, they tap your pockets.
If I had the money I'd by it for the engine noise alone.
SgtStinger if i had the money id swap engine to my honda civic
And the gated shifter lol
I wish I could give this comment 2 thumbs up. That car sounds like music to my ears.
jean dufresne thanks bro, for real i think thats sweet that you enjoyed it! Hell yeah
knowing now that your car has burned, wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to get an auto garage door opener?
I mean, the e brake, how hard could that have been?

You don’t need AC in a convertible Ferrari 😂

9:35 My grandfather did this with me in his 2001 Chevy Cavalier Coupe 5 speed. The whole reason why i love cars today❤
"maybe this is the fluke Ferrari"
Moments before an error light comes on
Bad omens, tyler
I love the end with your daughter, I do the same thing with my daughter in my 5 liter Mustang. Top down, full throttle, she shifts the gears. She will remember that for rest of her life!😁
At least it doesn't catch on fire...
You jinked him
I admire your brave willingness to fund your mechanic's retirement.
Between you and Doug DeMuro you both need to learn how to keep your hands on the wheel
Mark Henderson Thanks mom
Man that is a pretty car....hoovie is rocking a cool ride...good thing your making the coin to support this cars maintaince and repairs
If the engine gets blown to bits swap it with a Cummins
Swap in an MR2 engine just for the lulz
Cheap plastic
