A strong foundation in the symbolic "language" of algebra along with the concepts of simplifying and solving are very important to the GED® Math Test and for college. Algebra Essentials provides that foundation for struggling students by focusing deeply on algebraic reasoning.
In this, the ninth lesson from Algebra Essentials, we'll extend the concept of distribution, and examine how multiplication passes out, every term in the first grouping by every term in the second grouping. In the process, we'll review combining like terms, the product rule, and distribution. Then, for experienced and advanced students, we'll see various problems where this base skill can be applied: finding the product of binomials, squaring binomials, using a guess and check method to factor polynomials, and finding the area of a rectangle with polynomial dimensions.
