Thank you for doing the closeups of your release in slow motion. It really helps show what you are talking about.

Thanks for this video. I have to try this. I started bowling about two and half months ago (ignoring bowling ages ago only with house balls), and while I've been working on my release to try to increase my rev rate, my hand still goes straight up through the back of the ball.

Excellent video. When do I have to come around the ball?

I’m a four step bowler trying to fix my footwork because I walk into my swing. My right foot does not go in front of me left foot or have a small crossover. On my second step with my left foot my it is too far to the right causing me to walk into my swing. Would it work for me to start in my stance with my feet separated with right foot back? I am thinking that would help me to fix issue to only have to concentrate on my first step to make small crossover then I my left foot could straight so my right hip and leg would not block my backswing.

Jr, I have a very hard time cupping my wrist to stay under the ball. I worry about having thumb too tight that I won't get out of it and end up falling out on the lane.
I end up gripping the ball to be sure it doesn't fall off my hand. How can I get enough tape in my ball to be sure I'm not gripping it and what drills can I do at home to get comfortable knowing I'm going to come out of the ball cleanly without hanging up and falling out on the lane? I'm 60, you make it look so easy.

I have the opposite problem, controlling getting more up the back and staying inside of the ball and keeping my damn elbow inside. I fight it all the time. Seems when I am getting my elbow inside in the correct place, and my hand inside in the correct place, I can hook the entire bowling center. I often times just fight getting too much hook. I have increased my rev rate quite a bit but I want more forward roll while keeping elbow and hand properly inside. I am getting better at it, but it is a work in progress. I have absolutely no problem hooking, I can even hook my plastic spare ball when the lanes dry up a little bit. I actually sometimes use my plastic ball to practice hitting my marks, playing from the right side and hooking into the pocket. Found this to be a great practice routine, helps with my accuracy hitting my marks. I can rev it as hard as I can and work on hitting my marks while doing that. Works well for me.

This is exactly the issue I have been having lately. A few years ago I was coming around the ball too much and was having a hard time getting up the back of it. Been working on that and I’ve gotten so used to coming up the back of the ball that I now have a hard time coming around it. This has been very helpful and I’m going out Saturday to work on it and try to get used to doing it both ways. Thanks, JR.
