I produce Major Concerts world wide. This was the best Sponsorship tutorial I have ever seen and I have been in business 32 years. Thank you for a great presentation.
I must say, this was one of the best how to videos ever. Steady tone, no distractions, and the content was on point and valuable! Nice Work! Thanks for the knowledge!
I found you at the right time...just when I was feeling like..."hmmm...my proposal is thorough, but I can't link the overall narrative I want to convey to potential sponsors." Your video just saved me days of agonising anxiety!! Thank you so much for shining a light on how I can present the information such that it speaks to the sponsor's needs directly. I appreciate your work, and I will be a client SOON!!
Thank you Kim amazing video. I am the owner of an llc founded for charity purpose. although we do charity work, we are not a non-profit and will heavily rely on sponsors and volunteers. This was a wealth of information. Thank you for sharing.
I feel like I am in the same boat as you. I am doing work for the community but not a non-profit. it has been interesting navigating this. What kind of charity do you do?
Kim is the BEST!! Thanks for another fabulous piece of valuable content. Highly recommend her book for those serious about standing out in the crowd of sponsorship proposals!
I found this video in the process of digging through all of the useless fluff in order to learn how to write a good sponsorship proposal and I was so lucky to find this video and then your website. I learned everything I needed to know about submitting a great proposal and the process it takes - thank you for all the information but thanks even more for making it so easy to get. I am super proud of the proposal I sent out and even if they say no I am 100% sure that it was an excellent professional proposal. Thank you 😊
That's wonderful! And yes, even if you do this perfectly, you'll still get a lot of "nos", but at least they won't be because you've sold yourself poorly. I hear all the time that a sponsor has said "no" based on budgets or politics or whatever, but also said that it was the best proposal they've ever had, and to definitely come back next year. If you do it right, the door will always be open for another run at it. Good luck!
This website and Kim are awesome! I remember our agency landed our first national (huge) sponsorship client using her content and her book, which I highly recommend.
That was a wealth of information, thanks so much! I am hosting a free Yoga event on July 4th, and have had an overwhelming response from Yogis to attend, this got much bigger, much faster then I ever expected. I need some sponsorship $$$$ to help offset my costs. Going to try these techniques!
Hello there Jeff, I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season. I just saw your response and noticed that our services aligned thought it’d be great to connect with you. You can find me here: www.sweetdreamstime.com.
Thank you. I am currently planning events for an organization and this was a good way to get a feel of how to start a really big event in tandem with a local festival.
Take heart in that you're not alone in getting it wrong. Most proposals are terrible, and and anything you can do to up your game will be roundly welcomed by sponsors. It's worth the effort.
This is amazing information, simply what I am looking for, thanks. A bit technical for a newbie like me, but, I will have to do my homework and figure it out. But the bones are here I just need to put flesh on it! Also, a bit fast, the graphics do help a lot!!! Once again, thank you this is a God send!!!
Brilliant information!! Thank you so much for restructuring my paradigm for approaching sponsors. I love your style of presentation as it “cuts through all the fat” and leaves little room for question.
this helped me so much … was looking for ideas for presenting a while now and this was it … now I know exactly the tone I should pitch and how to … thanks a million definitely worth a million likes
I teach event sponsorship to grad students at a college in Toronto. I have been showing this video (and the previous 10-minute version) to them for 8 years and we all use it to write our proposals. (I asked Kim's permission many years ago... hope you remember and are still OK with it Kim!)
This was absolutely gold! So concise and clear. The website also gives great additional, in-depth information about all strategies associated with sponsorship sales. Thank you Power Sponsorships!
Incredible wealth of key info all obviously organized and presented in an easy to understand and even easier to comprehend (and stomach) format. Thanks Gordon Welke
Very Useful, Articulate and Super Professional. I will definitely use this video as one reference for my Diploma of Events Students. Thank you for sharing some quality words! Nailed it! :)
Thank you very much, Jillian! If you need more info, there's tons of how-to on PowerSponsorship.com, and The Sponsorship Seeker's Toolkit 4th Edition is great if you need the whole step-by-step process. Good luck!!
omg I literally just saw this, but i liked the video 4 minutes in... thank you very much , and this book they are talking about..ama get it...like instantly.
Wow great video really informative. I'm using it to inform a sponsorship proposal I'm crafting for our motorsports team to gain more sponsors in 2020. Let's see how successful it is for us
Enjoyed this a lot, including the downloadable resources. Thank you! I'd have enjoyed it a bit more without the audio distortion, mind you! Anyways, thanks so much for sharing your expertise here.
@@PowerSponsorship Absolutely - and I'm grateful! Very useful and succinct. Just I'm an audio guy so it was hard to ignore...apologies! A couple of quick questions... 1. We're organising an event to raise funds for a charity, with a partner already in place, and looking for corp sponsors from the relevant sector. Whereabout in the presentation would we mention the charity, how much would we include and what are the key messages to say about that? 2. I want to include some quotes from our audience that we have received to indicate their enthusiasm and motivation for participation...is that relevant if done succinctly and perhaps just one example of each in the 'audience sectors' section? Thanks again!
@@TheCueTube 1. How much you highlight the charity angle depends on how meaningful the charity or issue is to the people the sponsor is trying to influence and align with. If the sponsor is a vodka brand, they'd likely be less interested in that angle than a mobile carrier. 2. Sure, if you've got quotes that illustrate the motivation and/or meaning that drives your market segments, use them in the target markets section.
Right on point, many thanks for this. For the last part, what if this is a debut event, and we don't have previous references from previous sponsor? What should we rely on to replace the case studies? Thanks again
If you have no track record, the professionalism of the rest of the proposal is going to be that much more important. Truly. Spend the time, get the training, book, etc to do it right, because it's harder for you than an established event. If you need somewhere to start... How would you approach this differently when it's a government related sponsorship? I understand that most of the same things would apply, but I presume a few things would be different and possibly benefits would differ, because they would be more societal and abstract than tangible benefits for the sponsor themselves. Thanks!
As long as it's sponsorship and not a grant, it's the same. Corporate sponsors are trying to change people's behaviour and perceptions, and one of those behaviours is often increasing sales. Government aren't trying to sell product or services, but they're still trying to change behaviours and perceptions. You just need to figure out what they're trying to accomplish, and create a proposal around that.
No, don't do a video sponsorship proposal. 1. Not enough info; 2. Not customised enough, if at all; 3. Hard to sell in; 4. Looks try-hard. WORDS, mate. They need stuff they can easily discuss and reference.
Create it in Word (or similar) and save it as a PDF before sending. If you're doing a stand-up presentation, use PowerPoint - following the same structure, but with much fewer words - then leave behind a full proposal. Or you can follow-up by sending them the PDF straight after the preso.
Well, it's a free video - one of several we offer - so you pretty much get what you get. If you'd prefer a talking head format, I suggest you check out our online training course, Getting to Yes - powersponsorship.thinkific.com/courses/getting-to-yes-sponsorship.

If you want a template, there's one in my book, The Sponsorship Seeker's Toolkit 4th Edition (Amazon link www.amazon.com/dp/0071825797/?tag=powersponsors-20). Principles of proposals are exactly the same. You'll have to do projections on who you're targeting, obviously. If you haven't done any sponsorship before, I strongly suggest you get some training or a good book. My training is powersponsorship.thinkific.com/courses/getting-to-yes-sponsorship.
