Hey. I made that splice for my Drenaline rope. Between the marks D and C there was a slightly thinner point. Is that normal? I tried to do that twice and it turned out the same both times.
Same. Remember from mark C back to mark A will be 4 core strands. So from the eye back to C is only a tapered cover and 4 cores. The crossover C to D should be all core strands and tapered cover. I had to edit this because I was wrong. If you have a hollow spot between C-D there might be too much cover taper. I had that happen and corrected it with less angle with the final scissor cut on the cover. Hope this helps
This is not recommended by Teufelberger, but it is possible. It is absolutely necessary to do a thorough inspection of your rope before making a new splice.
