Yes this is a mod. For some reason the ‘Boss Battles for Classic Mode’ mod disables the difficulty lowering when you lose. The link to the mod can be found in my mods credit document.

When you put continue when you lose the difficulty is not lowered, is this a mod? If so, could you provide the link please?
