This is by far their greatest work yet, love how unconventional it is. The bus on the main paved road represents the conventional path to success whilst the off road vehicle over the hills is the road least taken. The album title: "Yellow Wood" is referencing a poem by Robert Frost called "The road not taken". The lyrics run parallel to the MV, I'll leave the meaning of those for you to decipher yourself.

there's no hit and miss with skz, there's only hits!! and this track is what it's supposed to be, considering the lyrics, it's now motivating or boastful like miroh, it's like literally its name "Side effects", I think it was a genius track and even without knowing the lyrics I could groove to it!
this is definitely one of my favourite! i've never heard a song like that one in kpop yet. I could listen to the beat all night and all day long! It's a huge yes for me!!! These guy show their creativity once again! The music matches with the message of the song. A good balance between more soft and more harder sounds. I love SKZ cause they are not afraid to be experimental!
Channie did say that this comeback, was going to have a deeper meaning then Miroh.

Bryson’s “we’ve seen them live” is the most relatable thing said tho. Because I act that way every time I see something by them. I just don’t know how to reconcile with the fact that I have actually seen them live.

One teaser after the other, ive been waiting which felt like forever for their comeback. I’m not sure yet but from what everyone has been saying since it’s been released that it maybe dedicated to their fans (STAYs) or it could be about themselves....i literally have nothing lol first theyre in the city with MIROH and now it’s a combination concept of Hellevator & District 9 vibes (i’m sure i’m not the only one who noticed)

You’re right about this song being about anxiety. If you listen to the song again, there’s actually an underlying background vocal - sang by Felix in his deep voice (it mixes w the beat and hidden because of the upper, main vocal going on at the same moment). But these words are “anxiety” “stress” “death” etc……
This is like the 3rd reaction (I watch) who took the lyrics literally. I mean yes. It could mean that way, amazing because, every theory about this seems like accurate. But it actually could mean so many things. It's confusing but that's the theme. They are confused. They are being swayed they don't know if they should regret their actions or not. Its what they want to portray.

Tbh I think the best way to understand the lyrics of Stray Kids is watching their Intro vids which are always released before every comeback and finding hints in their teaser vids or teaser imagines. They talk about their thoughts which they had while making the albums so it helps you understand the main ideas. And you can dig deep into the stories of the MVs by linking all the teasers.
There are a lot of theories but I think this is the most convincing:
About Side Effects: When you choose to do sth, you might be so confident with your choice. But after a while, you start to have "side effects". You will wonder why you struggle so much though it's your choice, you thought it was the best for you but is it really be, what if you choose the others, will you be more successful. And SKZ said that's what they went through sometimes and they knew they were not the only one. So they wrote the song.
The story of the MV is about Hyunjin's feeling. They dropped 2 tracklist pics with different words for 2 ver (black and white). Those look like just a normal pics but there were hidden faces. And we found out that was Chan in the black ver and Hyunjin in the other. Chan's words are sth like he didn't hesitate to choose the unknown road, as long as they're together they'll make it their path and he'll try to make sure no one regrets. Hyunjin's are like he didn't know this place but he believes the choice and they'll walk together, and he's sure he won't regret. But his words end with the line "Then again, I saw a strange scenery between the doors". You can see he was not that sure when he saw it. And yes he wasn't sure anymore if the choice was right. In the MV, he was looking around nervously at first while the others were all smiling and excited. Then he was upset and stopped Felix having fun. And when they see the "road closed" signs, he was furious. He fought with Seungmin because Seungmin took pictures like "how you still take pics in this situation". He was scared, he didn't sure if they could do it. He started to doubt himself. He had so many thoughts and it pisses him off. That's why the lyrics are "my head hurts". And this is also the "side effects" of choosing your "road". But after that, the members comforted him. And they continued the journey. In the end, there's the key that might be Hyunjin's key (You can see he has a key in the previous teaser. He looked at his hand holding the key right before Chan put out his key). It symbolizes his own choice. But because he chose to follow Chan, he doesn't need this key anymore. He now fully believes in their choice so he threw his key and walked away with his members.

Theories are crazy, truly messing up my brain. I made one with the trailer before the MV was out and I now fits with it but I haven't updated it bc I'm lazy. Buuut I'm hella confused with other theories.
By the way for me it's a 100% hit the whole album (maybe bc today it's my birthday and I'm in a happy mood, who knows). Side effects the first time I heard it had like 2 parts that didn't convinced me (which is weird in me) like I think the first rap from ChangBin. But after hearing it more times I love it. The others songs are, for me, complete i n c r e d i b l e. Like, TMT felt like a perfect b-side track and Road Not Taken is one of my favourites songs ever, it sucks it's so short.
