My brain immediately starting trying to calculate how much $63 was back in 1920. For that coat, it was almost $1000. Wow. But I think things were made much better then. Love this ❤
@littlelunarisasmr True! I completely forgot they were made of real fur. It's just WILD to me how currency works and inflates or deflates over time. I bet these coats are still around if they were well taken care of somewhere
Okay, as someone who questions if they can still get tingles from ASMR, I'm already shook and it's been 10 seconds. I haven't had sleeping issues (other than sleeping too much-) for a while now because I have chronic fatigue, but I've only been sleeping 4 to 6 hours at a time for the last 3 days (no matter how tired I am!) with no hope of going back to sleep. It's 4:18 a.m. and I'm literally falling asleep as I type this, so thank you thank you thank you
I love vintage mag asmr videos - if you can get your hands on any more I’d love to see more vids like this! I always find it fascinating not just to look at the fashion and style of the day, but looking at the way things were marketed too.
You spoil us Sarah!!! So many tingly sounds and your character and look are on point! Always blown away by how great you put the whole theme together!!
I cannot believe that this was posted so recently, i feel like ive been using it as a sleep aid for about a month. But thats probably the college finals week time dilation. Thanks for getting me through the stress!
I love this video. Amazing catalogue. I’ve watched this multiple times at bedtime. My most favourite ASMR video ever 😊 Always keen to see more catalogues if you have them 😊
I love how detailed and put together everything was back then compared to today. On another note, you did great as always. Happy holidays to you and your family. 💕
i loved this video!!! i’d love to see you go through the back half that you went through quickly in a little bit more detail to get a good look at everything… loved this video 😍
I think the COOLEST thing you could order ever was the house and church kits!! I have been fortunate enough to see one of each although the church has since been torn down❤❤❤
I love this era, would love to this this shopgirl and @GoodnightMoon shopgirl work together at the same department store! You always do an an amazing job at the vintage looks, every decades looks suite you so well!
Damn those coats were expensive for those days! They are looking like today’s prices if you don’t try to figure out much $30, $40, etc, in 1920 translates to today’s inflation.
OK so first of all, I don't think I would have ever seen this catalogue any other way except this way, this is so great! I am not from the US and I'm really enjoying all your videos where you show props or magazines that I can only experience due to ASMR. What a historical piece of booklet! I wonder how much did the person earn, who dres these models! And how much time it would have taken to draw all these! And I wish I knew how much 42 dollars back then would be worth now, seems like the coats were expensive AF, although I think SEARS catalogues were only checked out by those, who had money for it back then, right? Honestly I would wear most of the coats, when it comes to the style of them, not too fond of real fur though, but I love the styles themselves. I am like totally envious that these style of coats were available back then...and not really now. And it's kinda funny for me that in the past decades basically before I was born, kids had the same type of clothes that adults had, just in a smaller size. Like I never see a trench coat for girls or kids very kiddy clothes, but not adult clothes in a small size. I kinda feel like the older pictures of children look like they are really like dolls. Stout...LOL. They "photoshopped" them to have a double chin but to me, anything else looks thin on those drawings. The dresses look amazing! I am just so taken aback by the lack of curves haha even though I know that was the trend in the 20s. Like where are the boobs at? :D I mean I can see where they were, just...very low. :D :D :D Wow, the house dresses and kimonos! Sorry, I'm totally geeking out! Oh and the men's overcoats, I love those! I wish they would bring back hats....for all. And then the watches and all that, I am going crazy. :D
This catalogue is for the very wealthy! 😮 Edit: plaid is not "ahead of their time". It's been around for centuries. It's a weaving pattern. Edit edit: oh Lord, the muffs and fur "scarves" with the tails and heads still attached f-s with me a lot. 😨
Thanks for watching Ericat! Yes you are right! Plaid has been around since 8th century BC…oh my goodness!!! I don’t know too much about patterns myself so forgive me. This was me opening the book for the first time so it’s a first impression reaction. Can’t wait to look at the 1930s catalog!
@@PeaceandSaraity I loved this!!! It surprises me the prices though back then! Like no wonder they repaired and made their own clothes. I know that we've grown up hearing it, but to actually see it!!! Lord!!! Edit: I also apologize if my original comment came off snarky. I didn't mean it that way.
This era is so so so tingly its actually crazy good
It truly is!
