The highlighted singles and bands are just as super cool as the Beatle boots shown! I said to my wife how exciting it must have been to hear all those newly released singles in those days as a youngster! Thanks Yesterday's Papers, everything is much appreciated ❤!
Great video (as always) - What an amazing amount of classic records in just 1 month! I was only a 5 year old kid, so too young to appreciate the pop scene at that stage, so I wonder how/if the 13/14 years old and older appreciated that they were living in the golden age of pop/rock - truly, trying to decide which records to buy if you only received limited pocket money must have been a challenge!
Being a 12/13 year old in '65, some of my life long favourite bands and artists brought out great songs, in this episode the Kinks and Eric Burdon are still in my top 5 favourites
Thank you Yesterdays Papers for another great documentary. What a month that was ! Great sounds time-travelling for our joy today ! And still on our sound systems ! Cheers !
Once again, very impressed with your deep knowledge of music & artistes (some quite obscure) from this era. And the videos are the icing on the cake. Have to say that the hits - Game of love, Yes I will, Concrete & Clay , etc. - do stand out, even now. Appreciate the effort you must put in, keep 'em coming!
The year of my birth. I once asked my mother what the 1960s was like and she said something like 'an odd time. Music and fashion moved so quickly, it was quite likely what you wore or listened to in summer 1965 would be really different to 1966'.
Not a dud in the bunch. What a stellar month for music! I really love the song, Concrete and Clay. I have memories of me and school mates playing handball while singing this song. Here in Southern California ,I remember hearing both the Unit 4+2 and Eddie Rambeau versions. Thank you, YP, for reviving the memories.
Another great collection of chart toppers and forgotten floppers. Speaking of the b-52's. They have a great EP produced by David Byrne. MESOPOTAMIA. It's one of the best things they ever released there was no US release for it it was just too good. Thanks for looking back at the best ERA in music history
Said to my doctor, "I've had Tom Jones songs going round and round my head for months now, is this normal?" He said "It's not unusual". Who said the old uns are the best? Bostin episode thanks!
That's a single from December 1964, though. Merseybeat was still up and running indeed but no longer as popular as it had been in 1963 and 1964. The Stones, The Who, The Kinks... All those bands killed merseybeat.
I don't recall the Animals number "A Go-Go" getting up to number 15 on Billboard. This is the first time I've heard it. I was 14 in the USA of 1965. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is quite another matter.
1965. It was a year that helped define and refine modern music, pop, rock, blues, folk, classical, you name it. Voted one of the grooviest years in history by a plurality of "tea drinkers."
Great new series! Espey exciting to see what was released exactly 60 years ago .Thank you clearing up who played guitt on Tom Jones 'irs not unusual '.
I noticed the write up of BOBBY GRAHAM "Zoom, Widge and Wag" - next to the KINKS Tired of Waiting For You. Is there a story of the blonde Walking down the street? Do Wah Diddy! I noticed Junior Wood was in a band FOUR PLUS ONE " Don't Lie To Me". He was in the JEFF BECK GROUP in 1969 replacing bassist Ron Wood who had been fired and replaced 3 times. Very informative!! Tom Jones Its Not Unusual had been recorded twice. The first version 9 months earlier. Moretti does the breif solo - but Page Could have been another guitarist on that massive session.
Telling my wife about missing a new episode from YT and then this'dropped at the same time
Always look forward to new content from YP. Jan 65 was a great month for music!
Cheers!
Some awesome tracks by The Who and The Kinks that January! Thanks for another great video.
Brilliant collection; and all in one month! This will be a great series. Thanks!
What a great time for music and fashion.
I did enjoy this trip back to January 1965. This was a welcome surprise, I look forward to future episodes 👍
Cheers!

Excellent selection and narrative, thank you from Winnipeg, Canada! Now diggin' the Primitives and the Sorrows!
Cheers!
Brilliant, thanks for posting
I’m absolutely in love with the fashions! Especially the MOD look. Love the music, too! What a time to be alive… we were SO blessed! 🎼♥️😘
You’re the best man. Love these mini music docs.
Cheers!
Great songs from that year. This was awesome. Cheers! 👍👍✌️
Cheers!

Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. You're right, not a dud in the bunch. An incredible month.
Excellent idea. This will be a fun series.
Amazing music and incredible video production!
Thanks.
Happy Friday!
Another treat!!! R.I.P. Marianne. xxx
It should be noted that “I can’t explain” also includes background singing by a group called the Wellington’s
Gilligan's Island Wellingtons? The Wellingtons sang the original theme song for Gilligan's Island.
According to Shel Talmy, the backing vocals were provided by The Ivy League.
Brilliant in so many ways!
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood is a timeless masterpiece. A great vocal by Eric Burdon.
Elvis Costello did it well too later on.
Another great video! I bought a few of these singles at the time!
Cheers!
We love this channel and series!
Cheers!
Yes 1965! The peak of the single
Pretty sweet time to be young.
Excellent production, or rather perfect.
Thank you!
"Yes I Will" was later released by the Monkees on their debut album, re-titled "I'll Be True To You".
keep up the good work!
All Good Stuff.
I simply KNEW my mind control brainwaves from across the pond would have the desired effect! 1965! THANK YOU!
Cheers!

3:27 What a smashing bird! 😍😘
She’s been dead since 29 aaah
Oh how I cried that night
😉
@@jean-marcknight8816 No more dead than your brain, that's for sure!

Bostin episode thanks!
The transition year!
It's Not Unusual was covered well by Dr.Robert & The Blow Monkees in the 80's.
Yeah, 1965 is a good year with all the seeds of the next 3 years of sound germinating.
The primitives.. yep..love their stuff. I'm gonna guess that we'll hear some The Sorrows?
Haha! YES.. such a great band.
Unit 4+2. Yes. What about Eddie Rambeau?
Merseybeat was still up and running in 65 remember ferry cross the mersey.
Dec ‘64. Not ‘65.

Been waiting for ‘65

"Club A Go Go" was the b-side, that single reached number 15.
Got the four+one single
The month of my birth. I Can't Explain is released... Hmmm That explains my love of the Who?
Wait, I forget, did we already make it through '68 yet?
No, I'll be doing both 1965 and 1968. I recently posted a video about September 68.
Great new series! Espey exciting to see what was released exactly 60 years ago .Thank you clearing up who played guitt on Tom Jones 'irs not unusual '.

65-67 London peaked. All downhill after this.
