Great video! I have to show it to my wife, because she stopped enjoying golf after being admonished by the marshal during her first round after receiving the course license, in my eyes completely unjustified. Golf is a game and a game should be fun, not an extension of everyday’s stress in the office. And there is so much fun in your video, dear Iona ❤
Aren't they the worst! The marshall put my wife off golf too
I gave up golf for 20 years because I hated the pomposity of the commitee and the attitude of some full members towards me as a junior and even when I got old enough to be an intermediate member. Just getting back into it now.
@@crashadistelI had a similar experience. Then when you do get back into it you realise that all the old boys who talk down to juniors etc are just high handicap duffers like the rest of us
This is one of the biggest drawbacks I think with golf, certainly in the UK the snobbery around being a member, then the committee members feeling they have special
Privileges over other members. Luckily the two courses I play at neither are in effect. One we have the course and nothing else, no toilet , club pro, shop anything. It’s okay and go.
Second is much more upmarket has held a PGA event, it has an operations manager and no committee. Members from all walks of life and we all just mix well and all treated as equals, one of its big attractions plus the club is used by non golfers for food / meetings etc
I agree. As someone once pointed out, one of the first things you see at a golf course is the list of things you mustn’t do! I believe and agree with golf etiquette but some rules are silly “no black socks” some places and “no white socks” in others etc. Does it really matter? I wonder if Payne Stewart or John Daly would have been allowed to play on some courses given their attire.
I was once on a local course and the club chairman called out to us and walked about 200y to tell my playing partner off because his trolley was on the tee box (one wheel was just on the box area 🙄). It put him in a foul mood for the rest of the round and spoiled our day.
Are you kidding me? I've just watched those first three swings from Nadiya, and I'm not sure I want to keep playing. How can anyone swing that well their first time on the course? Wow... Keep at it.
This is what golf is about, being with friends, having a smile on your face and enjoying those good shots.
Pleeeease make this a regular feature. Would love to see how you get Emily and Nadia to improve over a few rounds. Also might help if a bit warmer and summer greens ! :) Brilliant vid Iona.
Beautiful contact from Emily hitting off the Winter tee mats.
I have two daughters (8 and 6) and have been going to the range with them. Watched this with my eldest and she loved it, seeing beginner female golfers and the fun you all had. Going to get on the p and p in half term
Iona trying to explain pars whilst the ladies munched on snacks. How relatable is this video!
Emily on the channel! Yes about time!
Be great to see you doing more teaching stuff on here with Emily and play with the golf girls 👍
Iona an golf golf girl what a great idea
It’s so great to see the Ladies having so much fun. We need more of it. Iona you are so great and kind. Love the videos.
Its also nice to see Iona straight away teach them how to keep up pace of play. Also good to see her later get Nadia doing some pratice swing, she needs some pratice putter strokes too!
Lovely to see Emily, how cute is she and the enthusiasm...
Nice to see a course I've actually played on UA-cam! Played there in a club match a few years ago.
I’m 10 min into this video and both ladies have taken 3 swings each and not a single whiff or top between them. Nadia in particular got the ball in the air on all three - very well done.
Brilliant and well overdue, what a fantastic vlog hope that Nadia’s experience is recorded
Three lovely ladies❤❤❤
0:44 Hi Iona, great video, hope to see you on SCD this year!!!!! Я golf люблю.
Lucky girls. Glad Nadia took her scarf off - I was worried for a few minutes.
This was great. As a 2 year beginner, I really appreciate this one.
"Great for distance!" I'm adding this to my caddie commentary, when needing a positive motivation for my player.
Great fun. Next, we’d like to see you on Strictly please !
Great video some good instructive content 👍
A lovely watch. Great that you pick out the positives of every shot 👍
Absolutely loved this. Cannot wait to see on the dance floor series. :)
another good vlog Iona... love how Emily has the sweeties in the background... should be interesting to see how both get with the tips and coaching you are giving them
Your in the best hands guys Iona is a phenomenal player, Emily not seen you in a while miss you on golf girls love that channel, your looking awesome too Nadia just enjoy it
I used to play at Richmond. Some good holes. Municipal course and cheap to join. Good one for beginners.
Absolutely, Iona. Take all the pressure off of score and being too results focused, and put it on having fun and pace of play! I used to tell new golfers hit a tee shot, bunt it down the fairway, ball in hand if things are going awry, chip and putt. Hit a tee ball and putt out on every hole (I always thought that was important) and keep moving.
Great to see Nadia and Emily with you.
Saving this to show my teenage daughter, who is showing an interest in golf. Great job all!
Iona, this was more entertaining and interesting than all of the tournament golf I watch. What a lovely group of gals, enjoying the sport, the outdoors, the company, the snacks and learning! It has to take quite a lot of thought and careful consideration to find content that is consistently fun and exciting. This hit a home run.! Fantastic idea and great video. Would love to see some follow up videos in the future.
If you truly are going to take dancing lessons, I think you will find dance to not only be fun and challenging, but it will make you a better athlete overall. Dancing builds a relationship with how your body moves and works, including rhythm and tempo, that you don’t get in many other activities (maybe gymnastics 😊). I’m a professional drummer for a living, and I’ve found learning to dance has enriched my playing, my feel for music, my physique, stamina, and certainly helped my golf swing. It’s also a wonderful way to relieve stress and learn to laugh at yourself. I think the world would be a better place if more people learned to dance and play golf! Cheers…
Cracking video Iona the girls played well golf as we know is a hard game
I coached high school girls golf for years. So I've seen Beginners. I must say you Ladies are incredible, specially in these conditions. Look forward to your progress!
Your channel is so refreshing. I feel like I am there with you. Cheers,
I spent an entire winter on the range working out hkw to play, thinking i wasnt good enough to jkin a club and go on the course. Finally dived in and shot 15 over first time. Get on the course asap. You're never not ready. Great content Ladies.......
Well that’s my fantasy four ball sorted. Happy people playing a friendly game perfect way to spend a few hours. Brilliant ❤
Make them comfortable built confidence and maximise enjoyment. Great way to grow the game. Excellent
i started playing 10 months ago after a 20 year layoff. i am now addicted to golf and seeing the girls fall in love with the game made me feel so nice. it is like we all have this thing that brings us together. great video. i really enjoyed it.
Golf is a dance! An elegant, rhythmic motion! What a great way to think and it shows that everyone can learn to play when they think of how it relates to their favorite type of movement be it dancing, football, rugby or whatever. Another fun episode.
Haha learning to dance helped with the golf. Much better tempo balance and confidence. Love these videos so good
This is wonderful content Iona, Nadia shows great potential but Emily seems a complete natural, with you as their coach and inspiration they both could go far … Iona on the dancefloor, does this mean you may be a contestant on Strictly, would love to see that.
Awesome video! Looking forward how they develop. Also looking forward to dancing with Iona😊
Fantastic content once again. Really glad to see Emily's use of her driver has come on leaps & bounds
Absolutely loved that video Iona,it’s great to see the younger generation wanting to learn this beautiful game.
It was great the way you were explaining things, and the enthusiasm shown was great.
I did hear somewhere that if you have the chance to tee the ball up take it,as it can help with confidence of hitting the ball.
And yes it can be intimidating with all the rules in golf, while it’s good to learn them you probably learn them all.
But the internet is good for that.
I think the girls did really well with people around and yes the first tee can be really nerve racking.
Keep these videos going because not only do I want to see how you get on in your journey it would be great to see the girls to.
Love the snacks time, right after my own heart , as for golf newbies, more the merrier, golf is afterall a game, and games should be fun
Iona I think you're a great teacher/coach. I've really enjoyed listening to your advice and the way you give instructions. A wonderful video.
We all have to learn. Fantastic video.
What some people forget is that they were all beginners, once. Usually find beginners and their playing partners are more likely to let you play through than many established golfers.
Great to see the unbridled enthusiasm
Great one! There’s always a certain wide-eyed innocence with new golfers that is sort of fun (and funny) ...these two seem like great sports and seem to sincerely love the game. Hope you keep us updated on the progress that Emily and Nadiya make!
Awesome stuff love to see more of this format! Wow love Nadiya's natural talent, totally awesome!
The girls did really well 👍🏻👏🏻. Enjoy the journey 👍🏻
Loved how you explained the all important “pace of play” in a kind way
Iona, I just wanted to say I absolutely loved this video. Having taught a number of male and female friends how to play Golf, the part they always struggled with was the first time on the Course. You did an amazing job of explaining exactly what I would say to them. All Golfers have been there and the majority understand. I have played Golf since I was a child and I still get nervous on the first Tee.
I would love to see the progress of Nadia and Emily in an on-going series. Top work Iona and Team.
This was such a wonderful and informative watch. I’m looking forward to the next one
The support and energy between you three throughout the video is fantastic.
Thanks for the lesson Iona! Last summer I tried that scramble format with a new golfer. It was great to remove a lot of the anxiety. Especially when they hit the best shot. I love your content. Well done.
Emily Rampage! I’ve seen you golfing on another UA-cam channel. You’re striking it well young lady!
Love your positivity Iona 😊Great advice especially first tee nervous, I learnt along time ago not to worry about anyone else..you’ve paid exactly the same as everyone else, so enjoy it!
I love the video and your brother's Hitchhiker reference: Don't panic!
Love the enthusiasm! Great to remind us of what made us fall in the love with them game...
Brilliant really. These ladies are really lucky to have you give them early lessons for a great game.
Great content, as usual! We all had to start somewhere and it’s a brighter future for the game if we all help someone along the path to enjoying our wonderful sport
This was brilliant, looking forward to following the journey of beginning the game of golf especially out on the golf course with Emily & Nadia.
The etiquette of golf can be really intimidating at first as they tend to be unwritten rules that aren't really taught to people during your first lessons on the driving range etc so this is great to see you showing the girls this Iona 😊
Golf needs more on course teachers like Iona. Great stuff!
Well Nadia is a natural, that swing shows lots of promise, great video and hope to see more of same.
What better way for me to spend a Monday afternoon than listening to an “old friend” and her partners enjoy the game I cherish?!!! Thank you for sharing your time, thoughts, friends and smiles with me in North Carolina . . . where we can enjoy this passion 366 days this year!!! May 2024 continue using you to bring happiness to everyone that hears your voice.
What a cool way to welcome someone to golf and share the experience
That was seriously good. Pretty sure my first drive on a course wasn’t as good as Nadiya’s and I doubt she’ll ever need or get the 155 shots. Just loved the enthusiasm from Emily and people could learn a lot from Iona in how to teach new players. It’s not what you can’t do but what you can do. 🙏
Loved 'this friend is new'. ☺ They were both excellent for beginners. Helps to have an amazing teacher. 😉 Please bring them both back soon!
For beginners I think the most important thing is to overcome the nervousness and intimidation of being a beginner. Just have fun out there. Well done! ⛳️
Great fun love the tip about the putter shaft is made of glass ❤
Great video Iona!
Showing potential new golfers what it’s like to get out on the course no matter the individuals skill level!
Everyone has to start somewhere, when you pure a shot that’s what gets you hooked!
And Emily… what a beautiful smile and contagious laugh that girl has! 😍
Looking forward to the progress of Nadia
This is a great video! Emily's got a great attitude/personality! Would love to see maybe a series of videos with you as her "coach" helping her get to her handicap! I'm getting back into Golf after years and looking at getting my first handicap too this year, that would be a cool bit of perhaps more relatable stuff for the beginner golfer!
Fantastic video. Enough said.
I really enjoyed this vlog. I just started playing/learning golf at the end of May 2023 after I turned 75. I am hooked on the game. I particularly liked the video because I took ballet lessons as an adult and can relate. Iona is a wonderful instructor/coach. I hope to watch more of your videos from my home here in southwestern Pennsylvania during these winter months.
Well done! That's growing the game indeed!
Nadia is a natural! Emily just makes me laugh with her reaction to shots. I’ve seen her a few times on Mia Bakers UA-cam channel.
Iona, not only do you teach golf and it’s etiquette so well, you also put newbies at ease! Don’t worry about getting off the next tee quickly, ‘just keep munching!!😂.
What a great video.
How could I go about getting you on my course? (In Hertfordshire) I’d love to watch a video being filmed!!
Excellent advice from Iona for new golfers: Keep your eye on the ball; i.e., don't pull your head until your club head impacts the ball. And it's amazing how folks across the pond can play in cold weather. 3C is 37F-38F. Few of us U.S. golfers play below 13C-14C.
Wonderful episode and superb coaching from Iona. I was based in London and played weekly at this course, huge changes on the the course but I remembered many parts of the course…
What a lovely introduction to golf for these two girls and they played so well.
I have subscribed and will look for more episodes..
I love your content! This is how you bring new people to golf! Get them on the course!!! I challenge every subscriber to take at least 5 new golfers to a course in 2024!!!
Absolutely love this. I’m a massive strictly fan and have also watched Emily on Mia Baker’s channel. What a treat to bring it all together under Iona’s channel. And Iona is such an encouraging teacher.
Great advice. Most beginners try to keep score and play "real" round vs. just play quickly and get in as much play as possible. The more people can just play the quicker they get comfortable. Unfortunately, in U.S., there is lack of golf courses setup for beginners to get into the game and learn. Too many courses are focused on established golfers that still hack their way around.
This is fantastic. Keen to follow them on their journey but they have you as their coach I’m sure they’ll not go far wrong!
So many good little lessons about things I know nothing about. Thanks!
Well done Iona and ladies, a brilliant example about how it should be done. No pressure and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. This is how everyone should be introduced to golf.
Great to get new people starting the game and they’re getting the best teacher possible 👏👏 love the positivity and enthusiasm
Hi Iona- great video. Always enjoy the lessons and the fun you bring to the course. Always something to learn!
great video ladies looks like Emily is a bit of a natural hit some nice shots
I love the concept for showing some first time golfers around of golf. More content like this should get attention. Things like pre-round routine, course etiquette, buggy/cart do’s and don’ts, etc., that aren’t really taught but can be intimidating to go play for fear of “doing something wrong” on the course.
Great video, Iona!
Love this! And its crazy that i actually took my nephew to Richmond for his first 18 after a few 9 hole courses. Good course to learn on, it can get very busy but dont let that put you off. Guy dressed as Tiger woods rinsing it into the trees. I love that you got the girls out there, no fear play your game and enjoy it. Like you say its you against the course. No need to worry about anyone else. Brilliant!
Been really looking forward to this content since you mentioned it coming up in Luke & I’s personalised video from you Iona…well worth the wait! Feeling very validated as a beginner golfer feeling the tee box nerves. Excited for more of these videos! 💕
Enjoyed this episode. I’ve watched Emily in other videos and it will be fun watching you help her improve. She definitely has the moxey she just needs some guidance.
Thankyou for another special video. So unique and so much happiness on such a cold day
Brilliant video to show people how to start. I love the laughter and casualness, more people need that! I need to arrange some lessons with my local pro to get my game restarted❤
Iona you are a great coach, always love your enthusiasm. Another great episode 👍
Great advice. Great conversation. Great video.
Enjoyed the video Iona, really good content!
Nice to watch Emily and Nadia hit some good shots… hope you do some more showing their progress. (First time my wife has watched anything golf with me 🤯😉)
Super video Iona. So well thought out & considerate for new or nervous golfers. We all think everyone is looking at every shot in the beginning but the reality is nobody cares & is far too focused on their own game.
Emily! Your swing! So much improvement from the golf gals days. Excellent!
Nadia has great potential, because her attitude is so positive...if she keeps hitting a good shot hear and there, she will practice more and just keep improving her game...first time on a golf course was very well done! Iona is a great coach. Emily seems to already be pretty good.
Great video with lots of instructional information. It's fantastic to see the topic of a beginners journey, including winter golf, on the kind of course most of us may have experienced. ⛳️😀
Go sista Girl power💃 that video needs to be in every school to show the girls The boys as you know have 'too many' videos by comparison
You are the voice and 'heart' of golf The people's 'Scots' queen of golf
I loved Nadiya's perspective on golf from a dancer. There are so many things in life that are like this, that you can find commonalities when you put yourself in someone else's shoes(or, in this case, in golf shoes). Terrific video and a wonderful introduction to the golf course.
