    I just got those. All the sizes! 🙃🙂 Those stoppers are for tunusian crochet. I like the bigger size for my large hands/fingers. The tightener was the deciding factor for me. As for the two packs of cords: well i know i get too many projects going at a time so yes i need them all, lol! 🙄😆

    I got a chance to try out the new Chiaogoo swivel cables and it seems that Chiaogoo listened and got it right. They are amazing. The new cables are swivel so not more floppy-floppy when using the cord connectors and they are thinner than the original red lace cables. They are great and a wonderful addition for those using CG. If you get a chance, try them out. I'm sure you'll love them. Yes, they still have the t-pins, but I never really minded those. The swivel also makes me more relaxed when knitting as I don't have to worry about the cord unscrewing which sometimes happen when I hold my needles a certain way.
    It's great when companies listen to their customers. I just wish they would stop using the pandemic as a reason to increase their prices.

    The new ChiaoGoo SWIV360 cables are thinner and silkier nylon-they are silver not red. I love the versatility of ChiaoGoo interchangeability. 3 cables and 3 needle tips types.

    The Lantern Moon gets soft with work too. I love them now. Though they are annoyingly stiff when new. I made a vest on US 2.5 and lace weight yarn. About 30 hours of knitting later and the cord isn't even something I think about. Also it's funny how differently we all feel about the stoppers. I like the Lantern Moon stoppers better than anyone else's. They're beautiful (each one a little different), I never worry about them coming off, they're sturdy, easy to find, I could go on haha.

    I bought the swivel cord. I was hoping to be wowed, I wasn’t, and I didn’t know how I felt about them. But, as you pointed out, I just don’t think about them. And I realize now that this is probably the only cord I don’t think about. My other cords annoy me at some point in my projects. So, really great cord! I only hesitate to buy more sizes because of the 2 pack. I’d buy a pack that had 2 different sizes, or singles, but since I already own cords I don’t need 2 of any others.

    Will chiagoo cables work in other brands and visa versa?

    • @mistakkesweremade
      @mistakkesweremade  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately not so much (though I can't speak for every brand across the globe). KnitPro, Knitter's Pride, Lykke, and a couple others are all the same size outtie cable / innie needle join; chiaogoo's are the opposite (and the join is a bit smaller)

    Let me thank you for this timely review. I have been looking for info on Lantern Moon needles for months, because I am thinking of buying a set. There is hardly anything on UA-cam about these needles, other than the occasional unboxing video & instant observations. You have answered some of my questions, brava!! I also wonder about how slicks they are. I want to buy the fastest wood needles, because I want some speed but I prefer the warmth of wood. Hate the clicking of metal needles. Also, I’m wondering about the length. 5” needles are long enough to cross my smallish palm & stick out on the other side by 1.5 or 2”. Is there a reason to want them this long, perhaps better supporting the weight of the project? If not, the 4” needles might be fine & easy to use. Again, thanks for your insights on LM. I’ll be sure to check out your other reviews for the real 411.

    Lol, i just ordered 2 packs of the 40 cord, didn't realize they were 2 to a pack, but awesome price for two cords. I can add a cord to my Lykke Tunisian set, knit set and my knitters pride set with a spare. Its great since i can use the 40 for almost any project besides smaller in the round projects......... Do these have a spot to add lifelines?

    Oohh! I would love your extra cord! I have been waiting/hoping that the LM cords would be compatible with the Dreamz. I tried the Mindful steel-coated needles (both fixed and spin) and I am unsure how I feel. They are very stiff. It seems like the LM steel cords are more flexible. Thanks for the review.

    I just ordered my large set yesterday. And listening to your video I’m glad I did. I think I’m really going to love them. I was knitting something on chiaogoo and you know how slippery they are. Well my wrists started hurting so I switched to my Knitpicks wooden and the join is making me crazy because this particular yarn is catching. That’s when I said time for new needles. Thanks for your review. I think I’m going to be happy with them

    completely agree w not needing 2 cords. i bought the longest cords i could find for blankets (49") which are great! but when will i use 2. im leaning towards my chiaogoo cords but i think im a bit biased cause they were my first knitting needles

    Thank you for the very thorough review. I was just thinking, as I knit with one of my few (very coveted) sets of ChiaGoo fixed circular needles that I lucked upon at a tag sale, I won't be buying those because I have all the needles I'll ever need. However, I have pretty much given up on my KnitPicks interchangeable set because I don't like the cord and they've come undone too many times on me. I would love to be included in your draw for the cord, to try, and see if I can get use out of my interchangeable set once again. Blessings.

    I agree I have both & I like the flexibility as compared to the helicopter cords that don’t swivel & their end stopper yes a smaller one is better & they could make it like a rubber butterfly that lays flat but smaller or a rubber ball. Just make that smaller

    I recently needed a 100cm cord for a project but was out of town with no access to my needles/cord. I bought a KnitPro cord for my KnitPicks needles and it fits, so I'm hoping the Lantern Pro cords will do too. Can't afford Chiaoo Goo.

    So if it works with KnitPro it should also work for KnitPicks, right? I have a set of KnitPicks and KnitPro and I’ve been using them interchangeably for nearly a decade now. One issue I’ve had with KnitPicks cords is 30% of them are faulty on purchase, or sooner or later the cord pops right out of the join. I might be a bit rough on them, yanking them to do magic loop, but still.

    Have an old pair of metal circulars (German). Metal tips and metal mesh cords. The cord on one end has developed a snag. Any ideas how to smooth it out? Lost cause? I tried sanding, may not have used the right sand paper.

    Thanks for this video. I really enjoyed listening to you and decided to subscribe! I started knitting with the Knitters Pride gingers interchangeable set. Then I got their Mindful set and really liked changing to metal needles. Most recently, I got the cg Mini interchangeable set when I started knitting socks. I will tell you, the cords for the mini set are so much more flexible than the cords for the small and large sets by cg. The mini cords are also way better than the cord on the US size 1 fixed circulars. I am really interested in CGs new set called Forte. I'm hoping the cables are thinner and more flexible than the Red Lace ones.

    I heard that Chiaogoo is coming out with a new line, SWIV, in a few months. Supposed to be made of African wood and the metal tips. The prized cord that also swivels. I can't wait to see it - not that I need anymore needles. The lantern moon needles are gorgeous. ***IF*** I were to get Lantern Moon, it will be the Legacy Interchangeable Needle Set 5" as that's my most commonly used needles.

      The new Chiagoo needle set are called FORTE and they sold out already in pre-order. The website said limited edition so I don't think we can get them anymore. They do however sell those new cables u mentioned. I'm a crocheter who's doing research on needles because I want to knit. I would have loved to buy those FORTE ones. I'm still thinking of getting the red set and minis.
      Such a bummer Chiagoo cables aren't compatible with Knitters Pride needles. The Knitters Pride needles aren't that much cheaper anymore I don't think. I think everyone is shafting everyone because inflation says so. So ridiculous. One person raises prices and dominoes fall. Everyone raised prices just because. There is no reason for it.

    • @Enig_Mata
      @Enig_Mata 2 роки тому +1

      @@JennySimon206 You are right, the prices on craft products have increased so much. I learned to knit in 2019 and I'm astonished the the price hike. Every company using the pandemic as an excuse the raise prices. Even the price of yarn has increased. I have both the red and SWIV cables and love both. I swivel is nice, but thinner than the red lace. Even if you go with the red lace, you'll be happy.
      Since you have knitter's pride, check out the Mindful Collection cables as they all fit Knitter's Pride. I think KP also came out with a line of clear cables similar to Chiaogoo. As far as the Forte set, they are so insanely expensive and I clearly don't need more needles, but I did put myself on the wait list for the set. I guess it'll be a Christmas gift.

    • @JennySimon206
      @JennySimon206 2 роки тому

      @@Enig_Mata I don't have Knitters Pride. I don't have any yet. I was just curious if the cables on those interchange in chiaboo so u could use their cables if u wanted to. Yeah I saw the Mindful collection. It's $200 bucks too. I haven't decided what to get yet. If u were just starting and had no needles yet what would you get?
      Thanks for the response!

      Provided it cant kink. Depending on the stainless structure, these cables could kink, even by accident and cause much heartache. That’s something the blog didn’t address. I wish she had.
      Once I saw in a workshop another knitter who had slinky stainless steel cables that looks like heaven. Been trying to find them ever since…
