We use these boiler water loops all the time in Brooklyn basements. Just keep the water clean and you won't have a problem. If you size them much bigger than the pickup capacity of the boiler, they'll be rather expensive to run, as they pull quite a bit of heat out of the boiler. You may want to control them so they don't run while the boiler is steaming. Otherwise, depending on your burner/boiler sizing, the burner may run all day to make steam. Nice project Paul. Quite inefficient though for those who have swallowed the green scam.

Thanks! I like green stuff but when it comes to boilers I’ll take 82% trouble-free for 30 years with almost no moving parts every time

Usually, your supposed to use a bronze circulator but u already know that. Your boiler water is so good you may never have an issue. You can do a loop with one tapping in a boiler as Dan describes. You do it with a double tapped bushing with an internal pipe in the boiler. Water loop has to be 100% tight as well.

Yep thanks I mentioned how he explains it (where I said it’s like a dip tube). But I think returning to the wet return is easier

Im wondering if you come out of the boiler with a small half inch pipe and go straight up to the ceiling level then a you-turn at the ceiling and come back down to the pump in 1 inch, if that would work at full boiler temp to heat a floor even if its under carpet? How nice would a heated carpet floor be! The any water hammer would be in the half inch pipe and that cant damage anything then the large pipe coming down from the cieling would have a head pressure to it keeping anyfurther cavitation from happening? What do you think?
