Just received my Mini Explorer kit....all the way from the US to Scotland in just a matter of a few days....brilliant kit, can't wait to build and fly.....well done Flite Test.....
I ordered the combo kit and a couple extra batteries and i'm going to give it to a friend who has never flown a model plane, hopefully I can get him hooked on flying !!!!
I bought the bundle with the Pocket radio and an FT Explorer kit with Power Pack A V2. VERY NICE, Mr. Bixler! Very well packaged and the Pocket radio is VERY cool. I was worried it would feel small in my hands, but it does not. These are Christmas gifts, but I'm thinking I need to buy a bundle for myself as I REALLY like that Pocket radio. I taught my bro-in-law how to fly using RealFlight 9.5 and a Bixler. I have created a template from the included sport wing that came with the bundle as I will be building more of these.
What a great learning experience. You’re a great instructor! You make it look so simple and maybe after I’ve built 15 or 20 it will be easier for me. But I got it built and now I can’t wait to fly it.
A friend recommended your YT channel to me, and a I ordered a kit to give my 6 and 7 year old for Christmas. This is totally for them and not for me, I promise ;). Cant wait to build memories flying these planes. Its something I have wanted to do since I was a kid. Having these build out of foamboard is awesome and makes the repair/rebuild so much easier. Josh you are the Bob Ross of model builds, very soothing and relaxing to watch :D.
Find a local RC Flying club so you can get help learning to fly and you will be having fun right away, if the club is not welcoming to you and your kids find another club that is.
@@markmcclellan5833 Great advice, thank you! I have looked into a local one already, but need to figure out when they meet up. We went to an event last year where they were flying, and the kids loved watching them.
A motor glider is how I taught myself to fly back in the 70s, only we used .049 engines from broken Cox U controls. My glider has tissue and balsa, and had a 6' wingspan. I trimed it out w/o power, and got the hang of controlling it while it was gliding. When I put the engine pod on, it was just magic.
This will be my next build. My first was the simple cub and it was a blast, just a pain to learn on because I was breaking props every other landing. The explorer looks like it could handle my landings a bit better!
Dude this plane is gonna be an amazing platform for everyone I can't wait to see what they do with this one I already loved the simplicity of the original explorer it's awesome to see this channel grow constantly
Thank you so much for your support brother. We are also doing our best to find a way to get all of our models to our dear friends across the pond more affordably. Your support is what’s making those opportunities and real reality. Hopefully we can accomplish that in the near future and thank you again!
Great looking plane. I see it's your answer to the Aero Scout. I really love the way you rolled the bottom of the fuselage, brilliant! Can't wait to build and fly one.
Hello flitetest! This is my first build and I am enjoying it and finding it a little more challenging than expected. I have one question- I ordered the aura lite 5 with my kit, and I was wondering if there is a special configuration for this plane. Also, I am planning to be swapping between the standard wing for my family to fly with, and the sport wing for myself. Will the aura detect that the ailerons are not plugged in and switch to rudder and elevator only configurations, or will I need to change the configuration in the flight stabilizer each time I make the swap? I saw on great video you made for this plane that you had the aura installed but did not use it during the beginniner wing flights, but did use it on some of the fpv flights with the sport wing, so I was wondering how you handled those swaps in terms of keeping things plugged into the aura vs. directly to the receiver while running the beginner wing.

Just finished the fuselage. What a great design. Really liked the rounded bottom.

Ah this brings us back to the Bixler. Great times.
Its great to see a mini of a classic but would also like to see more of them as XLs, for example the FT Simple Stick.
We will put it on the list. :)
