Oh, ok. Yeah if your running 6s on the udr, make sure to get some extra parts. Lol. I run 4s only and have not broken one thing, yet. Hahaha ive seen guys melt the drive shaft and the pinion housing on the rear running 6s. Good luck. Haha. Can always fix.
Had an original version back in 2010 when they first cane out. Little advice follow the gearing chart in the book for best results. You run the risk of burning up the esc if you don't. Best speeds and power I achieved was with a 3s lipo and the and Castles mamba micro pro ecs but once again gearing is key. Almost lost my whole truck when the ecs went up in flames. Best solution I have found so far is running the Traxxas Velineon 3500 Brushless Motor (3500Kv) on the stock ecs. This seems to have cut down the over heating issues and gained torque at the same time. Never got a top speed before I had an untimely collision with a stop sign that wiped out the entire front end and chassis.

Yeah, for sure on the cooling. It will definitely fry an egg. Lol. I add a fan to the top of my motor with double sided tape that the body holds on. Seems to help but I don't run mine like that a lot.

@@leolux09 The open center diff is an optional upgrade from Traxxas, it wasn't very popular but it made the car so fun to drive.i have it on all three of my mervs . You can find them on ebay
Hey on the body clips give them up completely on the mini e revo put some sticky Velcro or hook and loop tape on the battery openings and the bottom of the body. I removed the body mounts completely and I love it. Thanks

NH Offroad suspension arms breaking. Gears binding. Tires pulling off the wheel. Driveshaft breaking. I don’t know probably the arms are the most important thing. I put RPM arms on mine.

Those nim packs may be toast if you don't constantly give them some charge every couple weeks they self drain fast and if they are not maintained properly and left without charging the voltage of the cells goes so low that when you try recharging them they don't work good no more because the cell voltage most likely got so low they reversed and then the packs toast when that happens.

I retrained them before. I charged them and used them for a few minutes, then I forced them to charge again. They get up to about 8.39 volts and then slowly lose power as they run.
in case anyone wondering 2s lipo is slower than NiMH in series, 2s lipo only 8.4 volts fully charged and the NiMH in series is 18 volts fully charged, the first pass or 2 with the NiMH should be faster than the 3s lipo but drops right away where the 3s lipo is about the same throughout and has more punch. The high speed pinion is actually slower as well as its only meant to be used to keep the electronics cooler using the higher voltage of the NiMH in series. If not doing speed runs, 2s lipo is plenty for offroading, plus will break less lol, Sounded like he stripped the diffs which its also recommended to shim the diffs. especially with the torque running 3s lipo has. Fun to drive none the less but id pick up a slash over this. Breaks too much 😂
I did not know you could use the new ID connectors wiry the old trx. This is gonna save me from switching the one on my esc after buying a new set of nimh batteries and them being the newer id batteries.

That was just a fan that my local hobby shop had on the shelf. It has "R1" on the side. Nothing else. Hope that gives you some kind of lead on the search. Also it measure 30mmx30mm. And 15mm thick.
I just got a Traxxas E-Revo VXL and the 1200mAh battery lasted me about 20mins. I used it in 35° weather. The car suddenly started to struggle and it went through my neighbor's grass. I thought the motor stopped but the battery died lol. So much fun. I need more batteries now hahaha

When the esc is on LiPo mode it has a low voltage protection so it doesn't drain the battery below unsafe levels. When red and on nimh, it does not do that.
I'm trying to get one soon, I have a traxxas car already but still not good with batteries. I like how the first batteries you run go (tje traxxas ones). are they the same stock one that comes with it so I can order a second one?
Yes im going to be Driving my Truck hopefully with out ANY hassles from Anybody and can't Afford to break it or fix it know howv to fix. Some parts but not All Already put$300 Dollars in up grades into it the pieces in there where i replaced and it works fine just 1 more upgrade on the Truck. And thats it 4000kv Motor and 11.1 Lipo Battery and speed Controller which i think comes with the New Engine?
This is true. it will only handle up to 3 s. Even at 3s it cannot really handle the power and usually shreads the diffs. 2s is fun and doesn't kill it every time you drive it. Thanks for the comment.

Shes not ready yet, couple more years and I'll get a a slash vxl. I just have a speed modded stampede doing 85 on 120 amp hobbywing system with 3674 2650 kv motor. Grp tires with j concepts hi flow speed body. Running 26/34 mod 1 gears with grp tires. It has all rpm upgrades with -3° camber in the rear. Oh it has the the bad ass savox coreless digital servo 1256tg. Its decent. I probably can get 100 but 85 is good enough for me with roads around me. I added some weight to the front and balanced wheels with trackstar tire balancer. Thats about it oh and batteries are parallel 2 2s 7600 mah gens ace 50c. I also have dual 2s 90c 7600 but makes no difference

Question, I just got one and I am using a 2s but I can’t get it to wheelie like yours. I can get it to lift up only about a inch or 2. How did you get it like that?
The NiMH packs run in series produce more than 1 2s pack. Other than that, not sure. If I did it in the video with 2s and it did that. It is all stock.

Yeah that is basically what the second compartment is for. Remember, you can run 2 nimh paks in parallel and get twice the run time and could also do that with 2s lipo. Great, fun little rc.
@@eddiegz84 extra or replacement (rpm) a-arms. Maybe an extra spur gear and definitely be doing the diffs at some point, depending on how much you enjoy it. 😂
Hi good test. I think there is something wrong with your 6S NiMH’s. In series they should have a nominal charge of 14.4v (freshly charged maybe +18v). The 3S should only have a nominal charge of 11.1v (charged 12.6v). So even though the 3S would have more punch, and maybe more amps because of the c-rating, and hold it’s volt better, in the first minute the NiMHs should outperform your 3S.

Lots of different factors there. How many MAh is the battery? What gearing are you running and how much are you hitting full throttle. The batteries are small so it will get you 10-20 mins of run time.

I have one of those! The Mini revo SMOKES on two 3s lipo with series connector. Im glad it has TSM. I put a second servo on and it helped a lot!

Rc Basher Boi i have had it for roughly 8 months. No other issues. I broke the a arm in the first week and replaced them all with rpm.

Some parts but not All Already put$300 Dollars in up grades into it the pieces in there where i replaced and it works fine just 1 more upgrade on the Truck. And thats it 4000kv Motor and 11.1 Lipo Battery and speed Controller which i think comes with the New Engine?
Does just one LiPo battery make it run faster? Or do you need two? Also, do you need to change the pinion gear for one LiPo?
One 3s will make it faster but two nimh packs in series together would be more juice than one 2s pack. No pinion change needed.

I recently came up on a erevo 1/10 scale for little under 500 shipped. A I. Google. Says it's not recommended to put two. Lipos in it. Is this true?
This is true. it will only handle up to 3 s. Even at 3s it cannot really handle the power and usually shreads the diffs. 2s is fun and doesn't kill it every time you drive it. Thanks for the comment.
diff gear problem on 3s battery is it?
A 2 cell lipo is 7.4v, two, 6 cell NiMH in series is 14.4v. That's why it's slower with a single 2 cell lipo than two, 6 cell NiMH in series...
How long do the two nimh batteries last for when both are used ?
If you use them in parallel it should close to double. In series not so long!
What did you get on the stock battery for speed?

Sorry, not really sure about run times. I didn't keep track of that. If I had to guess, maybe 10mins or around that time.

do you have a center diff in there? if not do you strip your back diff alot?
It is all stock still. The only thing that is getting stripped is the spur at this point.

I didn't and it seems fine. I think it runs great on 2s with stock gearing.
What kind of tape did u use to stick it to your car?
I used servo tape I bought at my hobby store, which is just double sided tape but a lot stickier.
You are funny man. Even more wild than me. I know you're smoking down. I need to get back into makin rc videos but im waiting for my daughter to get older. Shes not ready yet, couple more years and I'll get a a slash vxl. I just have a speed modded stampede doing 85 on 120 amp hobbywing system with 3674 2650 kv motor. Grp tires with j concepts hi flow speed body. Running 26/34 mod 1 gears with grp tires. It has all rpm upgrades with -3° camber in the rear. Oh it has the the bad ass savox coreless digital servo 1256tg. Its decent. I probably can get 100 but 85 is good enough for me with roads around me. I added some weight to the front and balanced wheels with trackstar tire balancer. Thats about it oh and batteries are parallel 2 2s 7600 mah gens ace 50c. I also have dual 2s 90c 7600 but makes no difference

Thanks for the great comment. I plug it directly into the receiver in an open channel. It doesn't require much power.

Riley Rohe the tone was changing into Lipo mode the clicking is probably a bad diff

Question, I just got one and I am using a 2s but I can’t get it to wheelie like yours. I can get it to lift up only about a inch or 2. How did you get it like that?
The NiMH packs run in series produce more than 1 2s pack. Other than that, not sure. If I did it in the video with 2s and it did that. It is all stock.

Good video very informative I definitely won’t be putting a 3S in there. so then what’s the point for second battery compartment just for nimh? Then when you move to the Lipo you just choose one 2s or one 3s. Also new to rc
Yeah that is basically what the second compartment is for. Remember, you can run 2 nimh paks in parallel and get twice the run time and could also do that with 2s lipo. Great, fun little rc.

@@eddiegz84 extra or replacement (rpm) a-arms. Maybe an extra spur gear and definitely be doing the diffs at some point, depending on how much you enjoy it. 😂

Hi good test. I think there is something wrong with your 6S NiMH’s. In series they should have a nominal charge of 14.4v (freshly charged maybe +18v). The 3S should only have a nominal charge of 11.1v (charged 12.6v). So even though the 3S would have more punch, and maybe more amps because of the c-rating, and hold it’s volt better, in the first minute the NiMHs should outperform your 3S.

Buy it Break it Fix it Definitely! 🙂 I enjoyed the video. Just got myself a MERV again so it was interesting. I used to run my old one with 2S single or 2x2S in parallel (for run time and to boost up the amps for punch). It was plenty. On 3S it’s a demon 🙂

What the avrage battery run time on the stock ones

In parallel, yes just not in series. The esc handles a max 3 cell lipo.

Lots of different factors there. How many MAh is the battery? What gearing are you running and how much are you hitting full throttle. The batteries are small so it will get you 10-20 mins of run time.

just a fan from turnigy. snapped right on the motor. helps a lot.
