I remember back in the 60s sneaking out of bed early with my brother at our grandparents place and then playing with the slotcar set they had bought back from an overseas holiday. Over the last 40 yrs we've race the full size toys. Boys never grow up.
Some of my earliest memories are racing slot cars with my Dad and Uncles circa '67. They modded and even made their own cars. Picture SlapShot's Hansen brothers.
Our California neighborhood had a a pro track 1 block away. My brother in law worked their. He built me a car and I always got free lap time. I was 10. Many older men raced and had lots of equipment. It was a strong hobby back in 1965.
The Toy Fairs were and still are to a large extent just trade only. Put on to convince buyers for shops, but especially a shopping chain that they should stick the product in their stores.
Nice compilation!

I used to go to Hobby City in Stanton/Buena Park Ca to watch the big slot car track back in the 60 and 70's.
Love the stock cars at the end

Racing slot cars in suits
Had a slot car growing up. Mom would drop me off to race and leave me there. Good babysitting for her and lots of fun for me.
