Imagine surviving a tornado, then being offered a ride with the guys chasing it.
He was safer with us than standing out in the road way. Normally after a powerful tornado crosses like that there’s very intense RFD winds that follow it. We flagged down another trucker and he waited with them until first responders got on scene.
💀
I was thinking that too! I would actually feel pretty safe cause they know where it’s headed, but sometimes they change direction!
@@StormchaserNickGorman 📌 this please?
🤣
Tornado chasing in the dead of night has got to be the most terrifying thing.
They got monitors which is good, they know where its headed.
Agree, however they do have the benefit of weather radar and lots of other tech I'm guessing.
It’s all fun in games until we lose cell service lol
Like a scary dream
@@StormchaserNickGorman God be with you dear one.
As a semi truck driver I can honestly say we don't get paid nearly enough for the true hazards we have to deal with
You and the work you do are greatly appreciated here, hopefully someday your salary will reflect that
Agreed! And for what it's worth I know there's many other hardworking Americans out there who understand and appreciate just how important all you truck drivers are! Many thanks and respect
I would find a new job if i wasn't paid enough
@@westonsmith7772 Just as simple as that, hmm? Well, you could set an example for the rest of us by leaving your mom's basement and trying it.
@@MaureenLycaon I work shift work at a chemical plant. I own my house, it's paid off. Same with my vehicle. I have no debts. So, you're way off the mark little lady...I respect truckers and any other blue collar work, for that matter, but if you want to talk about how little you get paid for what you do, well perhaps it's a good idea to look elsewhere for work..?? I don't like hearing people moan about how dangerous their job is and blah blah blah. You know the dangers going into the field as well as the pay. And for the record, trucking is far from the only job with dangerous aspects. My work, for instance, is more dangerous. But I elected to work in the field because of the pay, amongst other things. No whining here.
I am watching from Germany and I have to say it is one of the scariest tornado videos I have ever watched. Even the German media are reporting about the tornado outbreak. I am sending my prayers across the pond! 🙏
It's rare to hear twisters outside of North America region. And makes me wonder that if Canada and US consists as a wind nation. Cause air power yoo!
@@brendenalexander6178 Its rare to have storms like this, here in December. We were shocked in 2011 with a tornado on New Ywars Eve in St. Louis, but this, this is beyond devastating. So many lost.
I live in Terre Haute, IN and we were lucky that the storm missed us. I always heard, if a big nasty storm hits St Louis, then Terre Haute is gonna get what St Louis got. Really surprised that it missed us. O.o
Thanks brother
Thank you for all your prayers.
Holy crap, the truck driver didn’t even know what happened. He was in shock! When they told him he just survived a tornado he said “A tornado ??”…
Man y’all stay safe out there doing this 🙏🏼.
Poor guy, I'm glad these tornado hunters showed up
Sadly , most truck drivers these days are oblivious to our weather in the USA. At least he could speak some English and has gained respect for bad weather.
@@dongilley3273 who cares if he speaks English 🙄
@@magneto44 by law ( that is not enforced) all truck drivers must read and speak English in the USA. The way the gentleman said tornado seemed as if he had never heard of one. All he said was something about wind. I pulled my truck over and parked in the storm so I would not be a danger to the motoring public around me. I'm old school and this is how I handle my responsibility while handling severe weather. Have a merry Christmas .
@@dongilley3273 He didn't say "tornado?" as if he'd never heard of it. He said "tornado?" as in disbelief that he was in one. Probably had no clue that the storm was tornado-warned.
A tornado at night is the most terrifying thing you could go through. It's bad enough when you can see it. Not knowing where it is exactly because you can't see it. Yeah that to me is a nightmare. We went through the Onalaska,TX tornado on 4-22-20. Our house thank God was spared. Especially because we were in it. It was a life changing event. Myself and many neighbors now start getting nervous when the wind blows hard or a bad storm comes through. God bless anyone who has been through a tornado.
Rain wrapped tornadoes can be invisible in the day time :D
@@jackaguirre8576 great point. You're exactly right. See it or not it's horrible.

Buddies house got hit by a nader couple months ago and my sisters been in one. And we’re from Michigan lmao
“Man there was crazy winds!” Storm chaser: “No man, you just survived a tornado!”
A historic one at that!
Imagine almost dying from a tornado and then getting picked up and forced to chase after more tornadoes 😂
Well, kinda safest place to be.
"Forced"?? I would feel as if I'd just won the lottery! Knowledgeable severe weather folks, safest people you could be with, and an adventure of a lifetime! At least, that would be MY personal take on it.
Maybe I need to hang out on the interstate when severe weather systems roll in.😎⛈🌪
😂😂😂😂
@@phoenixmode6909 the safest people to be with are the people driving away from the storm.
We flagged down another semi driver and had the guy hop in with them so we could continue on. Usually after a tornado crosses the highway there’s very intense RFD winds that follow it 80-100MPH so we didn’t want him wondering around.
I can’t imagine the sheer terror of seeing such a beast closing in on you at night. The power flashes, debris, and the roar all getting more intense the closer it gets. Only briefly catching a glimpse of its silhouette from the lightning. Then, your ears pop and everything goes black. Night tornadoes are the stuff of nightmares.
Years ago, a tornado touched down in the middle of the night a few miles from my veterinarian, who raises standardbred horses. The tornado came up the driveway and just before it reached the house, it split into 2 smaller evil twins. One went around the house and the other went between the house and the barn. That night, even the horses believed in God.
Things like this make one stop believing in god.

And now he’s a tornado chaser... poor guy
Passed by my house in St. Charles Ky(double wide actually, but really there was *no* sheltering yourself from this tornado..) by less than half a mile.. the total calmness beforehand, the sound I will never ever forget, seeing the power flashes as I watched it ripping across Dawson Springs. Where I grew up.(Dawson Springs KY is almost non-existant now.. 70% of it is just gone. Brick buildings and aparmtents just wiped off the map) It took our main substation and uprooted its foundation and twisted it around like a pretzel. Thick concrete and solid steel, like it was nothing. I'm thankful that it didn't hit my small town of Saint Charles. Because it's mainly trailers and doublewide trailers. Our town is only like a mile and a half wide. So this tornado was literally wider than my whole town at certain points. After it moved passedbmy town, it went on to Earlington KY about 5 mins from where i live, there it took an extremely heavy train and flung it over 100 yards into someone's home, like it was a toy. The death toll is immense, 13 dead in Dawson alone, and dozens of them are still missing. After the length of time that's already passed, and the nights after dropping down to below 32°, I'm very afraid that means those 3-4 dozen who are missing are for sure going to be counted down as casualties eventually.. The community of Dawson Springs, Mayfield, and Bremen KY may never recover from this. It's so unbearably heartbreaking.
I’m crying reading your comment, I’m in Louisiana and I definitely understand your pain🥺
Take care pal.
God bless.
I will be praying 😢
My family is spread between Paducah and Hardin County. Both places were barely missed praying for you all ❤️

I just can't believe that a tornado of this magnitude went down in December! And it may be the longest tracking tornado in history! My heart goes out to all who were impacted by this.
It's not the first time this has happened this late in the year, nor is it for an outbreak! We here in Texas experienced an EF4 a few years back in Garland, TX, if I recall correctly! While tornadoes are more prevalent during spring, and summer, they can occur at anytime of the year, and practically anywhere on earth with the exception of Antarctica!
@@metaldiscipline3955 not to this magnitude
@@GeneralGrowAndFlow If you mean intensity, then yes actually. In December of 1953, Vicksburg, MS, was struck by a powerful F5 tornado. As for the one in Texas that I mentioned, I believe it was part of a small outbreak in and around the state that day. In addition to the EF4 that hit the Garland and Howlett area, there were reports of a couple of EF3 tornadoes that hit nearby areas as well, if I can recall.
@@GeneralGrowAndFlow Now if the "Quad" state tornado, does infact turn out to be a singular storm(which I strongly believe it is!), and not a series of them, then yes I would agree that no other storm would be of this magnitude!
@@barrackhussein464 Still I was pointing out that it was not uncommon! The Tri-State tornado was 96 years ago, and is still widely discussed and studied today! Will this tornado surpass it in intensity? I'm not sure. Will it in death toll? Absolutely not! We will just have to wait until the survey concludes for a straight answer. As of now, the Quad-State tornado sits at an EF3+ preliminary rating!

i wonder how an 18 wheeler gets overturned, but nothing happens to these guys car.
@@wwinnar2831 im no expert but i believe it has to do with storm trackers having the knowledge to stay out of the eye of the storm. Aka where the wind is its heaviest and where the destruction happens. The truck was not so lucky cuz of being hit directly, also trucks r not very good with aerodynamics.
Ever been down a highway and feel or c the wind pushes cars sideways even a smidge on a mild windy day?...
@@wwinnar2831 high profile vehicles are the ones that get flipped. The car is close to the ground so the wind can’t push it over. That’s why if you ever get a high winds alert on your phone it says to use extreme caution operating a “high profile” vehicle. That means trucks and semis and even some SUVs. Trucks are easy to push or roll over. Think of the term “top heavy”. That’s basically the same principle.

I have an idea what it's like to be in one of these nighttime tornado outbreaks. On Memorial Day weekend 2019, we had a similar situation happen in the Dayton, Ohio area. We had that same insane crazy lightening intensity during the height of the storm. Night tornadoes are so damn scary.
I remember the nighttime Easter outbreak in Atlanta in the mid-90's. No one got any sleep that night the storms were so intense.
You're the first person I'd seen to mention that event, I heard the wind blowing with such intensity and saw the lightning kept going on non-stop. All the while I could still hear the distant rumble to the west of Vandalia.
I was just telling a friend of mine about that storm system. To put it in perspective, that system hit us well before it got to you. I live on the Oklahoma Missouri State line. And even worse, that storm started west of ok city. It was a massive front for sure.

Seeing a tornado like that in December is just crazy. Usually I'm expecting more than a foot of snow and cold weather.
I was in Mayfield taking shelter when it hit. When it hit, we laughed at how quite the wind was. Then we drove around to see the damage, and we didn't know until right then how lucky we were. Now seeing this, makes me realize how bad it could've been for us.
Awesome you picked up the survivor on the highway! 👍✊❤️🇺🇸
Nighttime tornadoes are the worst. You cannot see them unless lightning flashes and you have to be looking in the right direction at the right time. I was traveling on an interstate one night back in 1996 when I found that I practically had the entire interstate all to myself. It was around 1AM. I had the radio on warning of tornadic activity in such-n-such county. I had no idea WHAT county I was in, but I was getting horizontal rain, wind thunder & lightning. I just kept going when soon, I was experiencing hail, then flying debris. I floored it, not knowing WHERE the tornado was, but I had the feeling that it was right behind me or at least VERY close to me. I was going about 100 MPH and I can feel my 1996 Nissan Kingcab start to "fly" above the road's surface. The engine raced a couple of times when my wheels left the road, but all I could do was to keep going and hope for the best. I managed to remain on the road (when I wasn't flying) and managed to escape. I got clear and was able to continue on heading north. About one state later, it all happened again. I escaped TWO separate tornadoes that night. When I made it into PA, I stopped at a truck stop. I had a passenger with me who slept through the whole thing. When he awoke and asked me how things were, I told him. He was like, "Why didn't you wake me?!" I replied, "I didn't need you freaking out, yelling in my ear while I was trying NOT to kill us." Going through something like that is something you would NEVER forget. I'm just glad that no cop was taken up when I "flew" right by, going well over the speed limit and he would pull out to come after me and he would get caught up in the tornado instead. Imagine that scenario. Stay safe out there.
My prayers with everyone in the storm's path 🙏

These storms and Amazon killed my best friend in Edwardsville. Clay died trying to warn others.
Yall stay safe, thanks for doing what you do.
Amazon?….
@@Black0bsidian yes, they refused to allow people to leave for safety and a ton of other things that led to 6 deaths Friday. Amazon bears responsibility

If I could chase storms for a living, I would do it in a heartbeat. Has to be such a rush, so much fun, so scary, but so amazing seeing the raw power of nature.
It’s an amazing thing a tornado. I was sure surprised when I saw an F3 tornado cross Millelacs lake near Garrison. It knocked over a big walleye sign going into Garrison. It was a beautiful sight, very powerful. I was standing on a dock across from the Sherwood Forest camping area. There was a docking area just below where I was standing. As it was water spouting across the lake it would raise up out of the water and then come down again. Each time it did that I saw water dropping more then a foot below where we watching. We were getting hit by golf ball sized hail just as the tornado touched down in Garrison. I guess Millelacs messenger took a pic of us on the dock watching the tornado. It’s an adrenaline rush for sure. Nothing to mess with. Better to have the knowledge before heading out. Thanks for sharing guys
I don't know how I got here but I subbed just for the simple fact that Ya'll got that man to safety. Thanks for all you do. One of my wife's employees is a storm chaser. Be safe guys! Those minutes, even seconds save lives!

Great shots of one nightmare of a tornado in December!
this storm was not natural i live in east ky and suddenly days before lots of jet traffic leaving long vapor trails i noticed because i was out cutting firewood
but the strange thing was the sudden shift in barometric pressure and the warm breeze not typical for this time of season typically most of the thunder storm occurs in spring its very unusual for a December thunder storm but i also noticed the charged particles as static was very high and you could defiantly feel it
i have a joint issue and typically they hurt in low pressure but it felt like a warm summer evening
i think/felt something was very off because there was lots of lightning but very little thunder the radar also seamed strange via intellicast the storms typically break up as they reach the mountains the hills cause horizontal wind to create a wall of wind pushing the storms up toward/across ohio but this storm showed a perfect line on radar and the storm plowed though here like the hills/mountains wasnt even there
Yeah they were chemtrailing heavily days before this happened.
@@billgateskilledmyuncle23 People actually believe in this shit? Lmfao
