Nice, Exactly!, also one ignorant preconception can perpetuate and people end up believing others without seeing for themselves, seems to happen everywhere in the world!
Breadfruit trees were bought from Polynesia on the Bounty. They started to be grown in the botanical garden, which I believe is the oldest in the Caribbean. Breadfruit was grown as a cheap food for enforced labourers on the island.
Brother, as a Vincy, if your breadfruit wasn't delicious, it's not right! You need to have a nice semi ripe one or ripe one, a bit of butter on it or some company, like saltfish buljol. On some other islands they core it out before roasting and put in a pigs tail or salt beef and butter. When I do it at home I put seafood and butter. You can also get a breadfruit bowl where the cooked breadfruit is split in half and filled with yummy stuff. I urge you to try it again if you ever get the opportunity. I'm so sorry you didn't get a nice one!
I was like oh no, seeing you eat it like that. It is a fruit. It is sweet, when ripe and you can eat it inside as is, but not the skin or core. When ripe it makes delicious puddings or a great alternative for bananas, in a smoothie, too.wgen green, you roasted, steamed or boiled in soups. By the way it was nice to see a bit of that island.

The title of this video is obviously clickbait, so let me address the elephant in the room. When YOU PEOPLE visit the Caribbean, there is need to bring your stupidity and ignorance with you. There are people who genuinely want to visit these countries and are open minded to learning other cultures. Your video added NO VALUE to such a person. I am a proud Vincentian living in the West for the past 30+ years, and I am more concerned for my safety here and in parts of US&Europe. That being said, your video could have been titled “ Foreigner tries breadfruit for the first time in SVG”. A wise woman once said “If you have nothing good to say, then don’t say anything at all”.
This guy is using the old trick of going to a black country and putting in the title some form of shooting , robbing stabbing to get peoples attention and views, I have reported this guy to you tube as misleading also he keeps responding to everyone saying its his friends that say this but does not change his title he obviously is talking shit DON'T WATCH ANY OF THIS GUYS VIDEOS SO HE DOES NOT GET REVENUE FROM THIS! EVERYONE THAT IS!!!
I'm sorry you feel this, As the video started, straight off the bat I said the title of the video was because a friend said this to me, and people kept telling me not to go ashore. These I thought were nonsense and terrible false judgments. My purpose of the video was to dispel the misconceptions that plague so many countries around the world. I think I achieved it somewhat with the beautiful and warm reception I had here. But I do understand the title can be misleading. Appreciate the feedback. 🙏
You have to eat it with salted cod fish sauteed with onions, garlic and sweet peppers. It is also good with stewed chicken, stewed beef etc. it is also delicious fried. He should not have served it to you like that because it is a dry fruit. it like eating bread without butter, Hence the reason why it is called bread fruit. He just wanted the sale. Everyone in the islands know that you dont eat roated bread fruit with out a side...smh...
The last guy's legit nd humble.. i hate when locals cluster you and try to make a quick cash from you. Like just chill yow! Guy with the map is also my friend.. really cool guy quite fluent in french as well.. i cn never regret being a vincentian
Yea @philmoredennie I notice that as well. @lostwithabeer First of all, as a tourist you have to be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are, however if you were so worried about being stabbed, why travel solo? Then kept looking back at that one local as if he was up to no good? just terrible. Also why disrespects the other local that was out of camera view? by saying ‘keep it pushing bro’ I think as a tourist or visitor that was uncalled for & totally unnecessary. I get that locals may appear anxious or wary of tourists but their actions are often out of curiosity. They meant no harm.
@@hannaisrl3707 Fair questions, Firstly I wasn't worried at all that's literally why I made the video. Secondly, I was speaking to him that's why I looked back. Thirdly, I didn't say that. I don't think I've ever said that phrase in my life.
@@lostwithabeard Well ‘Mr. Lost’ that is a harsh, disgusting misrepresentation of the beautiful island of SVG. The video started off where you were looking around as if you were worried that he or someone was going to attack you & based off your title, I discerned your actions as such. The ‘phrase’ that you have ‘never said’ in your life is what I picked up from the audio, again I’m going off of your video title & demeanor & figured that you must have being extremely paranoid hence your reactions with those two locals. However, had you explained from the beginning what your primary intentions were, I’m sure myself & others may have given you the benefit rather than doubted you. Also when you folks visit & have the audacity to upload videos unbeknownst to the locals & pushed criminalized activity about said place.. in this case.. a place known for good hospitality.. You should get a nice backlash so well deserved. BECAUSE!!! Firstly: Apparently you are in agreement with ‘your friend & others’ statement, you decided to type it & post it, otherwise your title wouldn’t have been taken out of context according to your reason. Secondly: Perhaps you did this for clickbait? Thirdly: fix it or do better next time.
@@hannaisrl3707 If you listened to everything I said, I literally said, in the video, straight off the bat, "my friend said this and that I didn't believe the things that people say" I was very comfortable. If there was even a slight heightened awareness it's not because of the place, it's because it's a new place and of which I would have the same Heightened awareness for no matter which new country in the world I am in because I'm unaware of my new surroundings. UA-cam is art and allows people to tell a story in their own way. The title has ironically drawn more attention positively (look at 99% of the comments, and likes) to the island than a fluffy generic one which no one would watch. I didn't want to sugar coat the misconceptions that are actually real (everyone I spoke to before hand said not to go ashore there) that would be the real lie. Finally, it wasn't unbeknownst to the locals, I went for a walk before and they called me over and I said I wanted to make a video and that I'll be back. Even so, most UA-cam videos on UA-cam are unbeknownst to people in them.
C'mom mon, unless the breadfruit was ripe, you know it wasn't going to be apetizing if he ate that by itself, so why sell him to get the sale at the cost of a bad first impression and review.
That’s not how you eat breadfruit.. you have to eat it with stew chicken or salted fish or souse or blackfish. A meat of your choice with gravy. The guys should have told you that. And when it’s roasted half ripe or ripe it’s very sweet. But great video anyway.
Next time have bread fruit with some fried fish or some stewed meat. Breadfruit by itself is like eating a plain potato. Good one though. Keep up the good work.
You needed salt-fish stew or some chicken-back stew to go with the breadfruit, not to delicious by itself, or maybe you discover something new, hot breadfruit and a beer, good for hangover.....😁😁😁
Understandable bro, but I was shocked at the false judgements from people around me saying bullsh*t that had no backing, I believe getting straight to the point and then proving it wrong is more powerful than sugar coating things. people shouldn't jump to conclusions without thorough review which is exactly the point I was trying to make from the video. do you not think?

@@juliettrimmingham4609 I agree, but my aim of this video was to prove that and dispel the misconceptions because there are so many out there for so many countries.
welcome to st vincent
Thanks danisa 🍻
Welcome to our rocks in the Caribbean SVG 🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨
Thanks dude!
@@lostwithabeard you're welcome my bredda
This guy is amazing you need to link with Grenada island daddy vlog
Happy New Year.
Happy new year!
😶😒 It's not delicious "but good for a hangover "😂🤣 i love breadfruit especially with codfish/saltfish, black fish, smoke herring and stew chicken/ roast chicken and for breakfast i fry it with coconut oil and just a pinch of salt it brings out the flavor.SVG is a very beautiful island and we Vincentians are very friendly. Thanks for the video i have subscribed to your channel 🙏🙏.
If you look at Gladys and Kenny's local food tour Video of St.Vincent and forward to 8:29 minutes into the video you will see the breadfruit served with blackfish very delicious 😊.
I realise this now more than ever! 🤣 classic bumbling tourist, and this is meant to be a insightful travel vlog lol I thought it was like a fruit fruit to be fair 🤷♀
Lol yes because of the name breadfruit.Hopefully next time you will get to try our delicious breadfruit dishes lol
@@meli7846 Definitely ! Now another reason to come back so maybe was destiny!
Its definitely destiny lol
Omg...I saw a 🔪..oh wait he peeling some breadfruit..$10 ..less than 15 mins-you met a dozen ppl..with the phrase 1 love..bless..peace. my brother...I love st vincent
Beautiful!
love this video what camera you using
Thanks dude! Go pro - 10 mate, I always worry about the audio tho but decent camera!
Fire fire 😍😍😍
$10 = 5 beers £10 = 6-7 BEERS
It's $5/$6 Ec for a beer so he would have gotten a good bit not jus 3
Can get 6 beers for $20 ec that’s $10 usd.
Lol, I watched for the title
I'll take that 🤣 Some credit for a catchy title then
Tell them not to mix up Kingstown with Kingston. Kingstown is a very safe place SVG is safe.
Never believed everything other tell you about a place they visited in the Caribbean.
Totally agree 👍
I now know more than ever🤣 I'm gutted I didn't try the proper way but next time! thanks!
I like his vibe .
The last guy's legit nd humble.. i hate when locals cluster you and try to make a quick cash from you. Like just chill yow! Guy with the map is also my friend.. really cool guy quite fluent in french as well.. i cn never regret being a vincentian
Ah nice, small world! they were all so humble and warm 🙏
When People go there and disrespect the locals you are not doing yourself any favors...
I was very respectful dude, the people telling me unfounded lies about the place are the disrespectful ones, and I wanted to prove them wrong.
@@hannaisrl3707 Fair questions,
Firstly I wasn't worried at all that's literally why I made the video.
You’re a vibe 😅😅😅
C'mom mon, unless the breadfruit was ripe, you know it wasn't going to be apetizing if he ate that by itself, so why sell him to get the sale at the cost of a bad first impression and review.
Too bad those locals didnt give yu a better introduction to roasted breadfruit😢
🔥🔥🔥
That’s not how you eat breadfruit.. you have to eat it with stew chicken or salted fish or souse or blackfish. A meat of your choice with gravy. The guys should have told you that. And when it’s roasted half ripe or ripe it’s very sweet. But great video anyway.
Thanks! much appreciated, and yeah bit of a funny moment in retrospect with the breadfruit! 🤣at least I now know! 🍻
Next time have bread fruit with some fried fish or some stewed meat. Breadfruit by itself is like eating a plain potato.
Good one though. Keep up the good work.
Not yeh man, just yeh or yep.
🇻🇨🇻🇨 you are welcome anytime!!
Thankyou mate!
Next time try a half ripe breadfruit and you will see the difference
How long you cruising 🛳😎
Few more weeks 😎
The breadfruit them big thou
You needed salt-fish stew or some chicken-back stew to go with the breadfruit, not to delicious by itself, or maybe you discover something new, hot breadfruit and a beer, good for hangover.....😁😁😁
Breadfruit you eat it with fried fish
Thanks dude
You need some fish with the breadfruit, you can't eat it alone you get the hiccups.
🤣 learning as I go, thanks for the tips!
Ten &us for four beers
You need to eat it with salt fish or fry fish
St vincent is a great place 🇻🇨
Glad you enjoyed our country 🇻🇨 but you didn't eat the breadfruit properly man. It needed to be sides with some kind of meat that has gravy.
bro who ever said ur getting stabbed wow manye
Someone on the ship, that's why I made the video to prove it as false.
Breadfruit is the best.... But u gotta eat it hot or fried with a lil salt.. then you'll be hook fam...
Cheers dude, haha yeah I heard fruit and thought it was fruit 🤣
I live hear it's not bad
Caption misleading asf...some people would just see the caption, not watch and just run with it
Understandable bro, but I was shocked at the false judgements from people around me saying bullsh*t that had no backing, I believe getting straight to the point and then proving it wrong is more powerful than sugar coating things. people shouldn't jump to conclusions without thorough review which is exactly the point I was trying to make from the video. do you not think?
I think your friends got mix up with Kingston and Kingstown two different cities
Possibly 🤷
Absolutely true! !! A lot of people get mixed up with " Kingston " and Kingstown. If u go to Kingston u will get stabbed.....not Kingstown, the man's friends got confused. He was referring to JA the dangerous island.
Exactly
Hairoun u tried sunset rum
Iam from here but d worst place to be
