- Another hot day, so we spent our day in and by the pool swimming and training.
There’s A LOT of training going on at the farm at the moment. So I’m sorry the videos have been a little few and further between. Luke certainly has his hands full with Abra, Diesel and now Cruiser with the training they require to each be a positive member of the pack.
In just the last few days Luke has had to focus on Cruiser, just to get him to a point that he can be on lead with the pack and then also off lead in a secure area. This focus has meant Abra has had to wait a little for this initial period before getting back into her training regime. She requires constant training. Someone asked how many times do we think Luke calls out “Abra” throughout the day, signalling the times she bites or chases someone with a chomp … the number?? Honestly we would lose count.
Diesel has been working on his biting too. He struggles to read the other dogs excitement for what it is when the energy ramps up. For those following us for some time, you would have heard us talk about this scenario countless times. It is very common for dogs who have lacked in socialisation. It has been holding him back from being included and free range at pool time.
Lastly, Cruiser is doing great. He has a keen interest in the pack and being a part of it. More than, and quicker than we had honestly expected. But with that, he is showing some very typical ‘dog’ behaviours of an unsocialised dog. More so each day as he begins to relax. I am a day behind in posting, we just got back from a rainy walk and there was a quite a bit of chasing and biting. The up side is that he really wants to engage with the dogs. This is what we’re focusing on. We just need to help him to learn how to interact in a positive way.
P.S Cruiser has shown such a keen interest in wanting to swim, Luke has had to get him in so as to make sure he knows the exits. This is a safety thing.

Joey is a working dog. It is her job to be the teacher’s assistant. Luke has done an amazing job with each individual dog. He has observed their natural nature and has guided it so they can be their best self.
She is like the kid in class that thrives on extra lessons.
Joey the mentor! She takes her work seriously!
Also wanted to add I love how Joey works the commands along with the dog being trained, I’ve noticed she has done this with the others as well.
She is very conscientious ❤️
I think Joey could play checkers if Luke challenged her to a game. :-)

The way Cruiser and Roscoe greeted each other at the beginning of the video...like they've been mates for years, he's so much more happy today, saying Hi to the pack members, though, still not too comfortable with everyone ( except Freddo) it seems. Cruiser is so interesting to watch. You can see he's itching to get in to the pool, and pretty soon won't need any encouragement at all.

So happy and grateful for any video Sam and Luke considering how busy you both are. Cruiser seemed genuinely pleased to see Roscoe a really wagging tail and nose to nose contact. He seems so much calmer and happier within the family, especially the hierarchy of the group. So excited to watch his and Abra and Diesels progress. Love and thanks from the UK. Xx🙋💜🙏

Luke kudos to you for all the time and energy you continue to put in to rehabilitating your new cohort of dogs. I hope you can start a wall in the rescue dog rooms with portraits of all the dogs you have trained thus far since the first cohort of 5 dogs who have successfully been adopted into forever homes! It will be a good reminder of why you and Sam are dedicating your life and purpose to at the moment!

I was thinking the same thing when he got off lead on the bush walk. If I did not know he was a dingo I would have thought he was a red fox.

She's a unique one, isn't she? Fearless, likes to perch on Luke's back, and likes to swim and bite the waters at the same time. Just need some serious training.

It is interesting watching Cruiser go from "what hit me or is running up to me" to realizing the dogs aren't making eye contact with him as they go running around. Then it looked like he was figuring out how they moved based on the sounds they heard and for awhile imitating their response which lessened a dog unexpectedly running by him. Given there are places he could hide around the pool, it is so good to see him choosing to interact with the dogs and humans.

Felt like I was watching it again reading your comment. It's such a unique experience seeing any dog from tough circumstances come into the pack, but this is totally new territory to see. I'm fascinated, too. Rooting for Cruiser big time. :-)

Oh my goodness Cruiser just dives right n like he's been swimming for ever. Tht dive was a surprise and he did it so well. Barnie has the most adorable face and he and Shadow right up there for a pet from mom. Always love to see their attachment to Sam.

I Love how Miss Violet enjoys swimming for the sake of just swimming.💘 Who would have thought that a deaf, blind, and neurological impaired dog who could nearly stand up without falling over is now living her best life?💘
I am so amazed at the pack enjoying the pool. Each one has a different idea of fun and L & S you know them all so well. Such a delight watching. How far Cruiser has come in less than a week! Keep up the great work!❤❤❤
Great progress with Cruiser, he really wants to get into the pool. That was a wonderful leap into the water. Abra also having a ball, she leaps without any concerns. Miss Violet is like a little paddle steamer 😁😁. Tilly quite content to chew whilst the younger ones go crazy. It wouldn't be a good vid if we didn't see the baby seal face (Shadow) getting a cuddle from Mum. I was wondering when Abra was going to the back pack trick 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. The sound became muffled?? It's beautiful to watch the sign conversation with Maggie, then her letting Luke know she loves him. Freddo loves that toy, "It's mine". Sam almost copped the Abra onslaught. Now that's control, all standing on the platform waiting for Luke's permission to jump. Luke will definitely need a bullet proof vest for Abra's onslaught. Lovely torn shirt. Wahoo, go Cruiser!!! Amazing to see him swimming! Abra is hysterical once she's in the pool, she swims purely for the joy of it. Shadow doesn't fancy swimming but I love that she still wants to be involved so either barks from the sidelines or sits on the ramp with her rear end in the water 🥰❤️🙏🐶

Seeing this video, I remembered the song lyrics, "These are the good old days". (Yeah, yeah, I'm old.) Your hands are definitely full, but, from here, it's poetry seeing how well everyone is getting on. The overall pack dynamic has hardly changed w/the addition of a few - temporarily - high-maintenance dogs. These huge changes in Cruiser are the best surprise. Ditto for silly, almost too smart Abra and the one in a billion Diesel. Hard to think of anyone else who could pull it off.

That water must feel nice and cool on such a hot day! Love the pups loving the pool and playing catch the toys. Abra is training Luke on how to let her ride on his back in the pool. She is a Velcro Pup with Luke! Cruiser is doing well with all the dogs in the pool. He is a fast swimmer for sure; just needs navigational help to get back to the ramps. Even Diesel got to be at the Diving Pool with the Pack. Good job Diesel!! I live in Arizona and pools are heavenly on hot days; especially summers where the temperatures are in triple digits!! I felt very refreshed with all the pups and the pool activities. Great video!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Sam was saying in this video how Luke needs to get some kind of vest to protect his back from Abra's claws...my first thought was he needs some sort of pullover footholds for her. She's getting bigger every day...
I just love pool time! The dogs having fun and enjoyment of the water is adorable. Cruiser is progressing quite quickly, he’s already in admiration of Freddo! Abra is so funny making herself into a backpack for Luke! And how cute is Joey when Luke is training Diesel! ❤️❤️❤️
You wondered if Cruiser would want to eventually live in the house. We used to have our dingo sleep on his bed outside for the first two years then over time he started sleeping inside. It got to the point where he ended up having his own private bedroom, with his own luxury dog bed on top of a double human bed being surrounded by pillows and blankets everywhere, and his own doona. He became the biggest sook on the planet. He couldn’t sleep unless he was surrounded by at least 2-3 pillows. He was very spoilt and a very lucky boy 😂

Wow - Abra is a powerful swimmer. When she goes up a gear she goes forward as well as lifts herself up out of the water.
Cruiser is so stealthy and light on his feet, even when he jumps onto the ramp he lands lightly.

I didn't use to enjoy pool time as much but now with Violet and Abra out there I'm all about it. Thank you Sam for getting in the pool. The shots are so much better. Now I'm watching to see Cruiser become a fish. Fingers crossed 🤞

Two things I was wondering: Do dingos bark and do they play with toys. I don't think I've seen Crusier bark once.
They do bark but not often and for different reasons to domestic dogs. So we’re not sure how or when we will hear Cruiser bark. Wondering how he will react when the pack howls too.

I do believe Freddo would fetch all day long. His job at the pool is to get the toy, whether in the pool or from a dog's mouth and make sure it gets to Luke so that he can throw it again. Wash, rinse, repeat. It's his job and he's very good at it. 🤟
It seems like Shadow is suspicious of Cruiser. She seems to follow him after he growls. In this video he growled at Maggie, then left the pool area and Shadow was behind him, following from a distance. In the video (day after this) where he was off lead and did some nipping at Chop, at a couple of points he seemed to be getting too close to some dogs ( Sam was filming and she and Luke were keeping an eye on him), and suddenly Shadow saunters up, he sees her, and he walks away. It’s almost like she has indicated “I’m watching you buddy” and he knows she is not one to upset, so he decides to re think any plans he had. I love it!
Queen Tilly stood on the ramp with a toy and was not at all bothered by all those dogs shoving past her. The queen holds her own! Freddo is always ready with a toy, in case Luke wants to toss it. Cutie Pie is happy to demonstrate swimming techniques for the newcomers. Maggie was super affectionate after a swim! Abra may be a jealous little lady. She’ll have to fight Roscoe for Luke’s attention.
Miss Violet is like the energizer bunny…until nap time. Cruiser is a strong, competent swimmer!

Clearly evident already is that Cruiser trusts Luke and seeks him out to get assurance. If Cruiser was heading in one direction and Luke walked in the other, Cruiser would turn around and follow. Magical to see and so soon. Cruiser also does look at Luke’s eyes which is outstanding. Well done Luke and Cruiser! 🐾🐾🌟

I hope so much, that Cruisers previous mum knows he's now at the Farm and already settling in. I also hope dear Diesel is accepted by Cruiser as part of the pack, despite his different behaviour. That dogs like Diesel and previously our gorgeous Chancey Boy, can go off and spend solo time is brilliant, and even more, the depth to which Luke can read every dog if not straight away, not long after they've arrived at the Farm. Perhaps a storm drain pipe outside you front door might be a nice cave for Cruiser 😄🥰

It’s so nice to see all of them enjoying, I love diesel so much. He is so cute, I know I could never adopt him, because I’m not from Australia but just to see him I enjoy it. As far as Amber, she goes swimming, and she also drinks the water at the same time 😂, Cruise is such a beautiful dog, I know you guys said that they grew up in the wild Kingdom, but I could see the bond between him and his teacher. I have a special fondness for Diesel, too. I'm always drawn to the creatures that are slightly off-centred. Or who have the longer road to travel. Everything about the Evans and the dogs is admirable. Everyday I'm reminded of all the good that can go on when everyone has the same purpose.

It’s really interesting observing Cruiser - he moves different, pants differently and his leaps are beyond graceful. He even raises his head and sniffs the air differently. I can really see why he’s not classified as a dog. So loved the counting exercise - so funny🤣
Cruiser keeps congregating on the ramp near the dogs. It's like he wants to join in, but doesn't know how.
He likely doesn't bless him...I believe from what's been said he has only had very limited socialization. Hopefully that will soon change 👍❤️
It always amazes me how fast Luke can integrate a fear aggressive dog into the pack. He definitely has a gift.

Did I miss something before, I didn’t know Diesel knew how to swim, or wasn’t afraid to swim in the pool? Did is miss him swimming before today? He went in without hesitation. I was surprised for sure. Reminded me of when Rosco was thought to be going after the dogs with the muzzle on but when the muzzle came off he put 5 toys in at one time!
I think I have seen Diesal swimming in the dam before Rebecca not sure about the pool though :-) Yes I remember Rosco with all the toys in his mouth so very sweet...like he wanted them all bless him ❤️
Aunty Sam, if you guys were to make Cruiser a den of his own, what would that look like? How big? Sounds interesting.
We have a big rock face up in the bush we could possibly make a cave/den up there. With a swimming hole we were thinking. But we honestly don’t know what Cruiser is going to want. He may really gel with the pack and want to stay close but he may also want some solitude and own space

Cruiser is making wonderful progress. Like everything else it will take time. That is one of the great things about Luke and Sam. They are not on a time schedule that has to be followed no matter what. It takes as long as it takes - perfect example Chancey Boy. Thanks for the video Sam. 🐾💞🐾💞

Cruiser is one awesome looking Dingo and is doing so well. Abra has gotten taller and is so funny in the pool ❤️ Joey sitting there when Diesel was having lessons is so sweet.

I love diesel....he loves your huge space. Reminds me of my gs who passed away on the go constantly....hes guarding the perimeter! His tail is like a flag. Wish i could have him but cant...he needs a big safe area.
Abra is so funny when she's swimming. She *could* be quite graceful and calm, but nope! She'd rather splash and bite at the water 🐊

Love how Cruiser wants to be with the pack. He is very observant and measures everyone up. But not in a bad way. He is checking in to see who he can rely on as a pack member. He is extremely athletic. But in a ‘sleeper’ kind of way. He does not broadcast his next move. Luke has a pack to protect him and family but…he also has a scout (Cruiser) and personal protection Abra the Maligator. Can you imagine how much she is going to weigh when she grows into her body? She likes the backpack dog position. Then, there is Luke…I am pretty sure he can take care of himself. What a blended ‘family’ pack.
All the dogs are so wonderful to watch. Their individual personalities, humor, everything. Thank you.

I don't blame Cruiser one bit for being scared and tentative. I've been watching these videos for years and the wild doggie excitement over the pool games still makes me nervous. LOL!
