Hi Dan , When the fruit starts ripening , if you have a glut , make jams and preserves , marketed as Chateau de Chaumont jams and preserves , you would make a killing !
For those of us who remember pre Chateau Chaumont when he was at home with the boys and Annaliese, I remember him cooking the most fabulous meals. There is nothing Dan cannot do, renovations, gardening, cooking, charity fund raising, etc etc.😊❤
I’m so happy for you Dan, Nick and Brian, and all the people that have made this momentous occasion happen. Sometimes you have to wonder if it was the Power Company thinking, “ Is this guy really going to restore, and put a roof on this burnt out Chateau? Let’s wait and see.” The garden is planted, the electrics are connected and the mason continues on with his masterful skills to restore the stoneworks in the Chateau. So much more to do, yes, but your home is alive now and surging with energy to be brought back to life to fulfill your dreams of giving back to the children that you care so much about. ❤
Ooooh! I can see brides stepping out of that fab vehicle you have there. What a destination wedding venue the chateau will be!!! May you and your crew have the happiest of holiday seasons!!!
Dan, you have expressive eyes, and you could see the joy in your eyes as you talked about the electric being turned on! Good job. Im sorry about your dear friend and mentor. He must have been the best, he passed his torch to you. He must have thought highly of you to leave you his Riley. That car was his contribution to your dream. RIP 🙏
Cheers all round tonight. We are so happy for team Chaumont. Dan we love you. What a joyous day. Thankyou for having us on your amazing journey and never let go of the mad Irish one or the stupendous tree lover. Much love from Sally in the Uk 🇬🇧
As a former electrician.. that use of the timber during the first power-on was spot on lol Well done to you all, and congrats on having a working power connection!
@@sandrac3517 If something goes wrong, it allows him to remove the person "stuck" from the circuit without risking themselves directly. Electricity can be "sticky" in that if you're really unlucky, you basically seize up and can't remove yourself from the issue.
@@sandrac3517 Yeah, it happens, you can see it in low voltage (i.e. "control" circuits) as well. Electricity and an amazing car. Christmas came early for you this year Dan. We are amazed as you with the progress you and your merry band of men have achieved.
3 pieces of advice for when you make the final electrical connection: 1: Run the cable in a flextube for protection - and easier replacement if it should happen to get damaged despite this added safety measure. 2: Place a red or yellow plastic ribbon marked with Mains power cable some distance above the cable so you'll spot it when digging down, should you or anyone else sometime in the future be digging in the garden. 3: Use at least 10mm2 cable (check with your electrician if it should be even thicker!). The higher the current you want to draw, the bigger the cable...
I work on the electric here in the uk. I’d be willing to have a wager that there will be nothing wrong with that original cable as long as nobody has hit it with anything while digging. You’d probably be better off just piecing it out at either end rather than over laying it. XLPE cables are designed to run wet and as long as they’re jointed correctly it won’t cause you a problem
Lovely! But I do have to say I love your "dont' worry....there are enough safe guards here" as Brian is standing there with a piece of wood ready to break the connection if you get electrified.
My dad was a man of many talents. Long haul trucking, an author, electrician. He would of loved wiring the chateau. We had a garage built for 2 cars, he gave us 16 outlets. He always said, you never know where you wish there was an outlet. Exciting times Dan.
For many of us, electricity is the most natural thing in the world. But yet, here in rural France it seems to make all the difference in the world to keep going. Good job and enjoy!
In all the building projects I worked on as young man it was always a big deal when you went from temporary to permanent power. Congratulations, more progress.
That car is so fitting for the Chateau! Dogs all around helping , the digger all over the place, electricity!! And the kettle boiling. You guys are the best
I love the chateau car Dan ❤ I would love to own a Beetle one day or a MG. And love the garden! Don't underestimate the garden, it will grow while you all work on the chateau! Love that moment the dogs are happy that the car is in! So nice to see that happy energy.

But then, I'm also hoping that a magic geothermal pixie will come along with a radiant heating package, since heating a stone building is expensive.
