Living in vancouver I was lucky enough to ride with him and john heaton a few times. Unbelievable rider and extremely nice. I remember I told him I wanted lighter wheels and he hooked me up for free. Sold the bike, kept the wheels as they were his old ones. Wish I got them autographed!
yea used to watch this everyday back in the day..then go riding..40yrs old now and still love it..and still have a condor pro haha..this guy that used to ride at my local track in adelaide rides for him now.or used to.
For some reason I really didn't like Jay Miron back in the day, then Mad Matt came out and I wanted to do EVERY trick in this video! Like so many things those guys did back then, this video changed the game!
Does anyone remember/know the name of that song Jay used to ride to in competitions? The only thing I remember is the hook going "whooooaaa, whoa oh ohhhh, whooaaa whoa whoa oh ohhhhhh" lol. But I forget who it's by =( This vid is awesome too, used to watch it all the time.
Back when Bikes weighed so much. My Haro Master at least was twice as heavy as a modern bike (I was still running Skylines though) - maybe 3 times. Thanks to the local dude who let me pick up his bike a couple of years back - I was shocked. No one talks about his. Different game these days. Challenge any of top pros now to back flip an 89 or 90 Haro Master on 48's on a 12 foot vert ramp. There is a reason Matt is still respected..........plus he was cool
And Jay too - just realised whilst writing my comment I was onto Mirron. Awesome rider too - saw him in london in 89 on the Swatch thing. He owned the vert.
he was insane. Dave was dialed where Jay was still really smooth, but he would always try something crazy. first to land a double back flip and a 540 tailwhip.
@melittleflower You're right. To hell with trends and who's trendy at the moment. When I get the money, I'm going to do my own thing. I can't watch today's freestyle anymore.
Bmx was at its best from the 80s to the mid 2000s it started to get stupid after that in my opinion, the likes of osato , voelker, mirra , and so on were the best we will ever see, today's stuff is a bit to circus style.
Still one of my favorite sections, so much style. Classic Hoffman video.

Just raw riding. One of the GOATs
This is the sort of style new riders are missing the lip tricks and grinds and a bit of flat land thrown in, epic video !!!
Back when freeSTYLE had style. I wish my mad Matt tape was still playable.
Really wish I still had this vhs. Dying to watch the rest of this video
