Really nice to be rural again with no rubbish...more traffic now spring is here......lots of George who is looking very happy to be in the countryside again....and who can blame him.. .lots of doggy interesting things to find and sniff and.... when you are not looking..... to roll in
Building roof after 5:12 is interesting: those look like translucent fiberglass panels spaced between the rusty metal ones. That set of building backs would also look right at home on a model railway layout. _Now, if I could just figure out how to build a working canal layout in an upper floor apartment ..._
I remember seeing that roof... don’t think it was transparent, thought at the time it was paint on the white portions, but too distant to tell. Yeah, would make a great model railway, in fact we saw a model town that had a working railway and an actual water-filled canal, but the biggest problem was the algae that had completely stopped up the works! I’d say that’s less a problem on the upper floor, but I can imagine there’s lots to go wrong! M
I hope you visited ‘Michaels’ chip shop 😊 our neck of the woods (KIngs Bromley Marina). You’ll love Rugeley - an Aldi near a bridge with moorings. Boaters favourite lol
We’re on a bit of a healthier food kick, so we bypassed the chippie. Did like Rugely quite a bit, though as you’ll see soon I got swept up on a bit of a tangent! M
P.S where you're at looks a lot like Ohio without the canal. Spring is sort've breaking here. Plus, Sadie is enjoying her long Gator runs to the woods and I've noticed the wild chives are growing!!!
I moored there for over 11 years. It is a special place. Sadly those houses you mentioned will eventually engulf Fradley junction. The pig farm before the last bridge was sold to housing and is derelict and the fields behind my old Hunts lock mooring are sold to developers. The new marina at Common lock will change the feel of Fradley also. It's good you were able to document it as it is today, thank you for that. Have a nice cruise to our new mooring on the Shroppie.
I grew up in Fradley (the village part, not the estate bit that you visited) and it used to be really nice back in the ‘olden’ days, before all the new houses were built. At least the junction’s still lovely!
There is a large distribution park near to where you were moored at Fradley. I used to drive a lorry there every night from Southampton when I was working. Apparently it used to be a wartime airfield. Nice area though. Happy cruising.x
I was born in Rugeley. Can't think of a single reason why you'd want to spend a few days there. Nail everything down and lock everything up that can't be nailed
Hmmm if you take a left on to the Staffordshire & worcestershire Canal you can go thru the Tixal wide and wave to the Tixal gate house now owned and run by landmark trust (of course) and wave to my great, great, great etc Uncles Ghost on my mothers side - very exciting !!

I see a few others really enjoyed the music in this vlog. I love the way you sync the video shots to the music. Can you share the name of the song and artist? Being a guitar player myself, I just have to learn this one.... Fair locks and clear skies....
It’s called Parkside by Dan Lebowitz. We got it off the UA-cam audio library, so there’s not a lot more details, but you can download it via: ua-cam.com/users/audiolibrary_download?vid=3485a4565e3b9700 Have fun picking that one up! M
Thanks, just checked it out and then found the chords on Chordify (chordify.net/chords/dan-lebowitz-parkside-guitar-jam-tracks ). Very easy tune to pick up. Are either of you musical? Once you find a song you want to use as background music, if you find it on the Chordify site it is very easy to see the chord changes and would be a great tool to sync your video, not that you needed any help in this one or any others. Fair winds and clear skies. @@MinimalList
Hi, I'm fairly new to you're UA-cam channel. I've been enjoying it. How was the Swan Inn? I actually pulled it up on Sat from here in Ohio. Sigh. Ohio used to have canals, but nothing like you have in the mother country. ;( However, Ohio does have the north shore and the islands. so I do get to see some boat action. ;)
Well welcome to the channel! The Swan was quite nice, though as with many of the older pubs I had to duck a lot, and it was actually pretty busy so we sat outside. Never found anything In the States quite like the canals of England, so glad we can at least give you a glimpse of them! M
@@MinimalList I can relate to that. I am 6'2" Being tall has a few disadvantages. ;( LOL Bump, Boink, Bang followed by some profanity. Sometimes Lots of profanity!! :D
Starting out in the middle of nowhere (the Alt Universe boat purchase)? Surely in the canal space-time continuum wherever you are is the centre of the universe.
No, I just learned to duck! It’s MDF, there’s no good way to work it without replacing the door entirely, so eventually I just taught myself to do no more damage to my skull. M
@@MinimalList hmm. I have a lump on my forehead from the low stairway in the house I grew up in.i guess you learn quicker! Eventually I found and put a "max headroom" sticker up!
We have a rear cover for when we are moored but it is not a full pram hood for cruising. The trouble is, they are often to big to fit under bridges, so you have to take them down to cruise anyway. The really just provide an extra room when moored.
As directed thumbs up the coal pile is getting smaller and question just how many times has George wound up in the canal kinda accidentally. Because he reminds of our cocker the chaos in our life Both of you have a good day THE GRUMPY BUS
The coal is still getting used, but it’s a bit of an illusion because we moved three bags indoors and they’re taking up our living room. As for George, we lost count in the mid triple digits! M
We think it probably is, but once we didn’t get it we didn’t check again. Overall it was probably fine, and they did seem to have a legitimate medical need to complete the sale quickly, but we just weren’t comfortable with it. M
I enjoyed this video and it does seem when your programme is not under pressure you relax and enjoy things more - I suppose that is an oxymoron. Your coal stocks seem more manageable now.😉👍
To be fair we moved three full bags indoors and they’re filling up our living room instead of the roof... thankfully (perhaps) it’s not warmed as quick as we thought so we’re still going through them! M

‘TREAT’ The Big M to a pamper session @ Jacks barbershop when you arrive in Rugeley, highly recommend their service.
Gah, sadly that recommendation came a couple days too late! Ahh well, next time! M
Thumbs up provided. Another great video guys. Thanks
Thanks! M
Love the music on this and the last video!
Thank you! It’s often a struggle to find new music for the videos so that’s really nice to hear

Another enjoyable installment, and Fradley Junction certainly looks like a peaceful spot. What was your music choice for this vlog?
It’s called Park Side, Jo found it on the UA-cam free music collection. M
Most moving boats for a while.
7:14 Godzilla had that mic positioned perfectly, i heard everything he said......but, I, never saw him move his lips. :-p
Gojiro is an amazing ventriloquist! One of the lesser know abilities of the Kaijusaurus Rex. M
Starting out in the middle of nowhere (the Alt Universe boat purchase)? Surely in the canal space-time continuum wherever you are is the centre of the universe.
Hmm... not sure our boat has quite enough mass for that to be true. M
Well, I had observed significant time dilation effects around the bow-cam!
Heh, if only changing the frame rate was enough to get us warp speed. M
Just looking on Google Map at where you are, and what do I see? Michael's Fish Bar. You tried it out, I hope?
Unfortunately not! If only we’d know!
Live your vids.
I am wondering...
Did you ever fix that 5'10" doorframe.

Heh. Didn’t want to mention that one... bit ominous at times, those ghosts! M
Hi! Do you ever use public transport ? As on this occasion you could have had a visit to Lichfield. Best wishes Roger
We do from time to time, but as the very bus companies are not always happy to take George it’s not too often. M
It would appear that George doesn't like be on the boat ?
Not while it is moving. We think the engine noise stresses him out! He is fine when we are Moore’s. That’s why I walk with him so much!
But, if you do the thumbs-up twice, it turns it off... (oops - I notice that someone already pointed that out) Thanks for the vlog!
Yeah, we didn’t think that through 😬 thanks for watching 😊
