    Fascinating insight. Adoption is something we are looking into if things dont improve "naturally" but yet to engage any social services yet. Good to know how this process works thanks for sharing, we are a bit more clued up!

    I don’t think I could cope emotionally with foster to adopt with the possibility of the child leaving us.

    Thank you for this video. I have found it very helpful as I am considering foster to adopt as a single woman. Can I ask how long did it take for the adoption order to come through for your 2nd child? Time from bringing them home and having the adoption finalised? Thanks again for your videos - I find them great ❤

    Hi Aimee, thanks for another very informative video! My question is, what happens when you are employed and suddenly a child is placed with you? I know that adoption leave is the same and has the same rights as if you were having a bio child so it usually starts when the child is born and can last up to 12 months usually, but how does it work if it’s forster to adopt when you don’t know how long it will take for the foster period to end until you can officially start the adoption process? Would you need to take unpaid leave from work maybe? I know each company probably has its own rules but it would be great to hear your experience. Thanks again xx

      Thanks for another lovely comment :) Unfortunately, one of the cons to foster to adopt (to some people) is that no official leave/pay is granted as you are technically employed by the agency/LA as a foster carer. As you say, it is very company dependent and they may come to an agreement with you that if you take 'adoption/maternity' leave as the child is placed and nothing above 12 months that this would entitle you to statutory pay and leave but they are under no obligation. I was already on maternity/adoption leave with our first child when our second was placed so this was not an issue for me...but thanks for the question as I'm sure this won't be the case for many out there!

    Hey amie your videos are fantastic. So informative from not just the professionals. Your an inspiration x. What I was wondering is I'm a single adopter do you have any advice for me with this proces,as I dont have the second person to bounce off to be my comfort blanket I'm doing this alone !!!

      Hi Jamie, My biggest suggestion would be to find the UKadoption community in your area and on social media. Instagram has an incredible community and so many single parent adopters who could support you and relate :)

    Hi thank you for the videos they are very informative, I am wondering how often is contact with the birth parents with foster to adopt, is this daily contact or less? Thanks

      @Aimeevlog  4 роки тому

      Hi Catherine, For us, it was multiple times each week. My social worker mentioned that it's different in every case, sometimes daily sometimes less than we had.

      Davina Challis it is a HUGE commitment to make with even more uncertainty than adoption so definitely not for the faint hearted.

    Hi aimee, that was a very helpful video. We are currently waiting to go to approval panel and are doing foster to adopt and this gave me the information that I needed as what to expect next. How long after approval did your child get placed

      @@Aimeevlog thanks for your answer Aimee, i meant is it normal to foster for a few years and subject to eligibility, can you proceed for adoption later down the line?

      @@condrousiotis1477 ahh thank you for expanding. I don't think that would be usual practice..from my perspective I would imagine once the 10 weeks have passed people are keen to gain legal status and reduce social team interactions to those that the family request as opposed to formal, regular check ins. Though I'm sure there would be cases when this would be appropriate to extend
