- One of my all time favorites and a classic point and click comedy game from LucasArts! Although it's been nearly 5 years since we began the show, we still haven't played this so that MUST CHANGE!

One punch-line from the Telltale Sam & Max series that stuck on me is:
"Max, I have no idea what this guy is talking about."
"That makes three of us."
I think I’m going to watch a Long Play of the Telltale games as I only played Season 1 Episode 1 - I watched a Long Play of Tales of Monkey Island & loved watching, it’s easier to digest the story & humor when I’ve got a bunch of other things going on at the same time, & I don’t have to feel guilty about using a strategy guide 😏
Jerry Nilsson - Have you ever played the Broken Sword games?
My favourite "machine learning gone wrong" was on an artifical life simulation, where the computer was supposed to develop the fastest creature possible, so it made a creature extremely tall, and then made it fall over (which was fast).
i bet that computer banged it head on its desk
I always love this show, you guys are the greatest together! Thanks for the 5 years!
"Machines are every bit as dumb as humans; just faster." -Quote of the show
There's a great feynman lecture about this, but his point is that machines are vastly dumber than humans, they're just vastly faster. It's somewhere on YT, I recommend it, it's called his Computer Heuristics lecture i believe
1:08:00 "there's a really nice thing about LucasArt Games that when something happens, it's for a reason and it's not misleading" War Flashback to Mostly Walkin Grim Fandango and the hour or two spent after the beatnik poetry bit they were convinced was a puzzle ahahah
oh my gosh I have to rewatch their Grim Fandango playthrough - that was so much fun! I can’t believe how long ago that was. thanks for the reminder my friend!
One of my favorite lines if you "duck" the swearing guy at the Ball of Twine:
Sam: "Percent sign, ampersand, dollar sign!"
Max: "Colon and semi-colon, too!"
Swearing guy: "What are you f---- doing?"
Sam: "Swearing in long hand, asterisk-mouth."
This is one of those games that is heavily imprinted into my brain, I loved the hell out of it in my childhood and even though it's been at least a decade, if not more, since I last played, I still remember every puzzle as clear as if I played it just yesterday.
BTW as someone that is going through & watching old episodes, I appreciate *very much* that you changed the episode formats to include all three parts in the same episode, thank you for making that change. You’re the best Day[9] 😅💚
Sean B, your incredulous, “WHAT?!”-s we’re driving me *crazy* for a minute there... haha I love this game though! I played it in my childhood & am so happy to watch it now. Really glad MW is finally playing it!
Holy shit. The last time I played this I was around 9 years old. I'm amazed how hilariously inappropriate it was and how it all went straight over my head.
OMG Mostly Walking playing my second favorite point and click adventure of all time!!!
What a lovely day!
what's the first one?
@@sir.charless.7443 Day Of The Tentacle. How about yourself?
The Curse of Monkey Island
About 20% of this game is figuring out which screens scroll. I got stuck for weeks because I didn't know the cave with the colored lights was a scrolling screen and I played this pre-internet.
I wonder how long it takes them to figure out the office is a scrolling screen.
I also hope they figure out that every Snucky's sells a different mini-game.
In the office i was cringing all the time because of that.
@@WenzelAudio Well, they have 4 weeks to forget everything and come back in with a fresh eye so hopefully their preconception that that's all there is to the office room will be gone.
45:33 I'm glad they saved Sam and Max for 5 years. It's a game who's writing is so self-aware and so constantly comedic about the silliness of every situation, and that self-awareness exponentially increases the comedic value after having experienced 5 years of nonsensical puzzle solving. wpwp MW Crew.
Pause at 1:08:31 best shot of the show.
Guys, please play Nancy Drew - Warnings At Waverly Academy.
Can't wait for the next episode!
Great as always!
Can't wait for you to tackle Maniac Mansion!
is MM in the queue for them to play?!
Anyone else see nose rings, and think of that one scene at the bar from Full Throttle?
I just love Sam & Max! Of course, I played this one, the OG, but, I only played the first episode of the first season of the Telltale iteration of the series - with that, I’m wondering if I should go back & play them, or just watch a Let’s Play/Long Play of the series. I did that with Tales of Monkey Island & enjoyed it (as well as some other gems that the Mostly Walking crew played & never finished... le mayo).
Also I definitely missed this episode live because of the NBA finals 😏 basketball & esports are the only sports I love watching! Well, I guess I also enjoy watching tennis & golf, but, to a lesser extent. I wish I liked football as much as most of my fellow Americans do.
How can he not see they haven't played the longest Journey yet xD It's literally rated as one of the best of all time. I get that it's a lot longer than their usual stuff, but damn is it a true adventure game.
I stumbled upon this because I watched the series on Blacksad and was sad it was over and wanted more. And then when he mentioned Grim Fandango, I then went back and saw that series. Sean, what is your secret? You have not aged a day since 2015
38:30 I'm thinking, that one of the 3D well stylized games is Borderlands series.
I haven't watched mostly walking in a while, surprised by Leigh's look! They're looking really nice, love the hair :)
Are you joking? his hair looks like shit
I think they’ve had better styles, but, I wouldn’t go as far as saying they look like shit, that’s not nice dude 🤔
Speaking in regards to the world of fish music my wife is a music therapist and she works with the elderly and those with degenerative mental diseases and they cant remember their name but can remember songs from their life. Check out This is Your Brain on Music. Super interesting.
Bill farmer as Sam
You should totally play Sanitarium next! Bit of psychological horror would fit well in your portfolio pf episodes :)
If you count meta dating as the beginning of mostly walking its a bit longer.
What about the Legend of Kyrandia games?
Forget classics, the last Sam & Max - The Devil's Playhouse - is by far the best of the series
45:25 Me when I'm looking for my dab pen to watch Mostly Walking "Ahh found it...
MW back on this yes!
Space quest anyone?!
just me?
Ok then...
"It's you! Roger Wilco! Space guy!"
A great Point and Click game series would be Deponia. Try it out some time, it has Humor, Puzzles, catchy songs for the chapters and interesring characters.
HighLanderPony understandable, I haven’t played far but the coffee puzzle is cryptic enough I guess. Well, atleast there are allot more games like Edna and Harvey out there for them to try outy
Would be interested to see you do the telltale Sam and max, I think that was telltales best work. Would be interesting to compare this original with the update.
they had quite a few games that I’m intending on going back & playing, or, watching Long Plays of - Sam & Max (all three seasons), Wolf Among Us, Walking Dead, Tales of Borderlands... there’s probably others as well that I’m not thinking of at the moment.
Nice, that should be fun.
Looking at those three at least Day9 looks like he's doing pretty fine and isn't on the edge of doing something stupid
Wouldn't it be super cool, if they completed Sam'n'Max, when Sean's in Hong Kong? I'd think so .. :)))
when’s Sean in Hong Kong? I just saw a headline where over a million people marched in the streets!
never mind, I just saw where he talked about Hong Kong!
Happy to see Sam and Max I really hope you do Leisure Suit Larry, and maybe even re try Gabriel Night just because it isn't politically correct today doesn't mean we should forget about them.
Gabriel night was done for like one episode and they couldn't handle the political incorrectness.
I'm not sure they could handle leisure suit Larry either.
@@Truank24 Isn't leisure suit Larry very... "special" in terms of its content?
@@Truank24 I agree and also my name is Alan Smith so this is hilarious just thought I'd mention, That's why I said they should try and replay Gabriel Knight because it's a great game same with Leisure Suit Larry, It's just the political incorrectness of the times even let alone today, but they shouldn't just not play the game because of that. I guess if they don't enjoy the game because of it, it wouldn't be enjoyable watching. I just think they are classics even if they are really politically incorrect today, so I would love to see them play it and enjoy the gameplay even if it is cringey.
@@nhagan001 I agree they mentioned doing an After Dark episode of Mostly Walking at the end of King's Quest 1 with Leisure Suit Larry, I thought it would be a great idea.
Drinking game should have been when the 4th wall is broken
Literally checked here 20 mins ago hoping to find a new MW, do other stuff, reopen UA-cam tab a few mins ago and voila, perfect timing boyes. ;)
I was JONESING for some Mostly Walking. In my feed, 4 min ago, it's... MOSTLY WALKING. WOOOOOOOO.
You guys need to get Bladerunner working. It would be so siyaq.
Man I bought that game when it came out, and still never got around to installing it. It's still in the shrink wrap!
one day people will be like "hey remember when Leigh's name was not Leigh yet?"
I already think this. He was better as Bill
This was the first video I saw with the new name, nose ring, and I think the long gray hair is new to me too. But hey, I try different hair/beard things all the time too, and getting a trim and a new look always makes me feel better, especially when I’m feeling the worst. Brains/moods are funny.
Leigh? Bloom? So what's Plott going to change his name to?
Sean Felicity Plott
At least Sean B had a good reason. He got married. Leigh is just stupid
@Ragnarok why's that?
@@stijnvandrongelen5625 One changes first name, other changes second name, so Day9 have to change middle name (or nick/handle)?
Running out fo adventures? Play Edna & Harvey: The Breakout
original police quest 1 and 2
still haven't played the broken sword games.
Glad Leigh had good food here. Durham has pretty good restaurants... just too bad everyone knows us for Duke. (Go Heels)
Part 2!!!
Are you also going to do the 15 or so telltale games Sam and Max’s as well?
He would have to buy them up quick. Word is they are getting pulled from online game stores.
Can you please play Broken Sword?
Well, this is weird. I have a definite memory print that you guys already did this game years ago. I think I'm just going senile.
Are you a time traveller?
Same. I feel like they just started it or talked about it or something though.
They say Deja Vu comes from a sense of false memories, and then false memories are a sign of dementia and maybe Alzheimers (or mental trauma).
Little trivia. Only about 1/5th of Canada is French. Quebec and no where else
Why do you guys never finish the games you play. Its so frustrating to hear you all say "What a great game, hilarious" etc but then never come back to finishing...
Why's Sean's name now Bloom?
he got married and they both took the new name, Bloom.
Wait, seriously?
Play Shadows of darkness, from the quest for glory series! Its awesome
Okay, I have not been watching MW at all this year. What happened to Bill? Or did he change his name and get a nose piercing?
Bill is non binary now. Goes by Leah.
@@user-un8jx8yo7z Oh, okay. That's cool.
Ah, I thought he was trying to look like James May (from Top Gear, Grand Tour, and a buncha other things).
sean is looking good , guessing the wife cooks really well :P
You still must do hichhikers guide to the galaxy text adventure
That game is so hard! I played it for hours and I never got past the bulldozer.
Telltale peaked with Sam and Max imo. But obviously this game predates that
MT-32 or SCC-1 music please??
Haven't been here for ages... Bill looks more and more terrible xD
imagine being so triggered at someone existing
Eh, I wouldn’t say it bothers me. Any more than getting to identify someone’s face with a name, then suddenly both being different, can feel a bit jarring. Without context, I get over the jarring feeling pretty quickly.
With context, something like my sister suddenly deciding to introduce herself with a more posh pronunciation of her first name to everyone since meeting the man who would become her husband was more offensive. For her entire life, I knew her by one name, then she runs away from our mom, and over the next few years the tales about our mom get more wild and distorted, then she meets a guy she was a bit creeped out by at first (he was a bit forward, I actually like him as a person, but maaaybe she used the funny pronunciation when she met him to make it more likely for him not to spell her name right and not find her on Facebook?). Anyway, she sticks with him, and this story about what her name is and the evolved story about how our mom physically beat us (uh, no?) to his whole family, and now they’re married and it’s like my little sister is a complete stranger.
It’s not a funny name or a name change that bothers me, it’s when it is done as a middle finger to where you came from and/or trying to feel more trendy/special.
You have not played the feeble files. And down under dan.
That intro HOLY: right on the nose; can you imagine, someone recreating that intro in 2019? The twittersphere would explode with soy
We got an edgy anti-SJW culture warrior here bois
The intro struck me as pretty woke, what with it satirizing nerdy white “nice guys”
@@monolith94 this isn't new
"you should be a doctor"
I actually think leigh would make a good psychologist with the right training. But then, there's a fair bit of overlap between that and game design, depending on how you do it, so keep doing what you're doing
@Ragnarok regardless of what you feel about them as individuals, you need the right training in order to legally practice as a clinical psychologist, which is all I was talking about
