- Early on the morning of December 24, 2022, I accidentally destroyed the Arduino MEGA 2560 micro-controller used in the front panel of my new homebrew SSB HF transceiver I'm working on called the MAX-SSB (Modular Amateur radio Xceiver for SSB) .
The incident occurred when I was attempting to temporally remove the 12V power supply clip lead from the final PA board's terminal strip when the alligator clip slipped from my fingers and landed on the terminal strip for one of the thermistors that monitor the PA's final transistors. The thermistors are wired directly into the Arduino's analog input pins, and the 12v was too much for the Arduino input and destroyed the MEGA2560 chip.
At that point I was so discouraged that I completely dissembled the transceiver and through all the pieces into a box.
After some time to reflect on what had happened, I vowed to rebuild the front panel and transceiver and continue development of the MAX-SSB; this video documents the first steps in that endeavor.

Rick, good to see you are keeping yourself busy in retirement.
Jeff, good to hear from you! Being retired is too much work, my new boss is always assigning me new projects before the olds ones are completed! :-)
Sorry about your mishap, but with mishaps come new beginnings. Looking good!! btw, thanks for providing documentation and source code. great designs 73 de Dean AC9JQ
Really going to have a stab at this design after my current project
