I agree it has become its own sub genre due to its party and gangster themes which deviated from the more roots conscious reggae. But it’s beat patterns and riddims were and are suppose to be reggae. This has changed b/c the youngsters are adding more hiphop which is hurting dancehall reggae. Losing and identity they never really understood in the first place.
