Teal, I know you have said that you have had those chisels a long time but for what you are doing, my 'go-to' tool is a painter's 5-in-1. I sharpen the scraper edge on it so it acts like a chisel. They have a nice handle, are shorter for more control, and if you get a good one, they last a long time too. But I am a woodworker....
Brilliant, can't believe how many thru hulls were on that Leopard. Can not wait to be able to crane out here in the UK and address my thru hulls especially below the water line. Great video and great tips.👍🏻👍🏻
Teal, You four make up the most complete loving and together family and are a real gem of creativity full of patience, clever ideas coupled with teamwork like I have never really seen by a whole family you must be very proud and satisfied with life and what you all have built and experienced together. I wish you all Clear sky's and fair winds in your adventures.
Teal you could be the designer/engineer that all us boat owners dream about, you do things the right way, imagine the leopard guys gave little thought to the overall number of through hulls let alone the 18 below the water line, you are a genius!!!
I can't believe how many through hulls you had, but then looking at that neighboring cat, I guess you didn't have that many after all! Very nice job patching them sir. Special thanks going out to your able crew members of course!
I always give you a thumbs up before I watch the new episode and know I won't be disappointed, thnx you guys are great and I'm always sad that each episode has to come to an end
Youz guyz are an amazing couple. Always calm and optimistic. There is nothing that can't be accomplished. Plus you both work at the jobs at hand and help each other... I should have been so lucky. Obstacles are not obstacles to you. I'm impressed.
You are an intelligent professional and a great teacher, which comes to you naturally ! Good Luck to you and your family .. Can't wait to see your sailing adventures !!!
You know what? I'm very proud of you, your family and all of the hard work you do to bring us quality content. Of all the sailing channels I watch, you're in my top 3. Keep up the good work and hope to see you back on the water soon.
i don't often leave reviews or comments but i just have to say you guys are so inspiring to my wife and i. Long story short our 5 year plane is to be living on a cat and by 10 years be full time cruisers. When we watch your videos i see the patience in the whole family and how you all work so well together. Teal reminds me a lot of myself in that he can fix or build just about anything he sets his mind too.I am the same way except some how over the years I've lost the patience and always seem to be in a hurry to get the project done. Watching you work has reminded me to slow down and relax don't get in such a big hurry and enjoy working on projects again. You guys are the awesome and we wish you all the best and maybe one day we will meet on an blue water crossing. Keep up the good work!
Hello Basik Crew, Sanding, and plugging holes, what fun. I'm waiting to see how well Emma does training with the Flight Training Simulator. I worked on Commercial/Military Advanced Simulator Technology Simulators for 35+ years, which provides the actual reality of a genuine Aircraft. Emma's first attempts at flying the actual drone should all be very low level flight to learn ground effects, and prevent damage from a high altitude crash. I always found low level terrain following flight as a good way to learn how to maintain level flight. I can't wait to see Emma's first solo Drone flight. Love Y'all. Getr Done.
i am a patron and proud to be with what i can afford i wish it could be more but $950 is my income per mo. at 79 former employer put my monies in his pocket not the bank and att's cost a lot love you guys and will tell i die. thank you carl stout Eureka, ca.
Great Video as always. Like the way you patched the thru hulls. Very Slick‼️👍👍. Tough couple of weeks, hope Emma is doing OK, Loosing someone you love so much is the toughest part of life. Enjoy Your Channel, THANK YOU FOR SHARING,. VINNY 🇺🇸
Your attention to detail and steady approach to tasks impresses me so much. Your statement at the end expressing your gratitude was moving. I continue to love watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us:) ❤️ 🙏 🌊 ⛵️
As usual, the best video production value, and the best workmanship UA-cam has ever seen. And I love this family, Teal, Linh and Emma are showing the world that working together pays off, in many ways. I can't wait to see SV Basik in the water and sailing. I'm sure this boat is going to perform beautifully.
You most certainly have the right to be proud of your family, the way you pull together and give each other total support is great to watch! Teal you are teaching us all how to do “boat things” properly and watch your lovely family endeavors 👍👍🍾
Hey don't stop there, I have two thru hulls on my boat that need to be filled.... "Ouch, don't throw those vise grips at me!" Nice job you guys, you're getting closer to the goal line 😎
We love your workmanship and your channel, and look forward to it every time, o and you obviously are a lovely family love from i hope soon a free Scotland.
Great job on the thru hulls Teal, your wife and daughter make a good team for you. Every boat I have purchased I always remove the plastic thru hulls even if above the water line. After three-five years plastic thru hulls get brittle.
Dad your going to be a proud father when your daughter meets a guy and she is showing him how to work on things and fix stuff herself! You are training her right! Great Job Mom and Dad!
You would be a great teacher. I really like watching your projects and learning from them. I will miss them when you are sailing, however I’m sure that your traveling videos will be of the same quality, only a different subject. Thanks.
This is Jace Hobbs of Nelson,, New Zealand. I designed and build this catamaran 25 years ago in my patented process Mastermolding. You can see the old Multihulls magazine article done on this boat and the process I invented to build it. Does everyone know that the both sides of each hull and cabintop are all built on one very special Mastermold with vacuum assist and high-modulus fabrics. The whole boat only took me one year to build, including the mold, so it has been a durable and performance oriented process with lots of weight saving technology, yet quick to build . The molding is done into a concave (female) mold with really clean and low wastage advantages. I have recently updated the mold shape and can produce custom bow and stern profiles all on the Mastermold. I have also refined the hull parameters to take advantage of what we know as the best sea-keeping shapes and this is similar but more refined than the boat that this lovely family are living and working on. So if persons with interest in this boat and the two other size catamarans that can be build on the same mold, they can contact me at jace.hobbs@gmail.com.
Perfect as always. ,,,,,,,,,,,/),,,,,,,,,,,fair winds you four! Of course you’ve got old plugs saved up, you never cease to amaze sir. I don’t know where you keep your garage full of everything.
Please you have to forgive me I just think your family is so great and your situation is so blessed I’m excited for your family I hope the very very best for you and have the wind at your back and a safe harbor in time of trouble. 🙏🏻

I know this must still be hard on the family with the loss if Teals mother. You guys are working hard and staying busy and I bet that helps. Love your videos and a big fan!
wow! wow! is all i can say. Lovely family and you are a true craftsman, love your slow and detail explanations. just wish there were more videos per week. when you set sail wish you can be detail about the real cost of sailing, cost of entering new ports and fuel consumption. Thanks
Thanks James, we will definitely be delving into the cost of cruising although we are on a budget so how we cruise will most likely differ from other sailors out there.
I'm a new subscriber and have been binge watching for about a week now. You pay a lot of attention to detail and strength with all that you do but I'm wondering why you didn't glass over the thru hull plugs and tie them into the hull ? . Are you that confident in the bond of the epoxy between the plug honeycombs and the hull honeycombs?. You're whole family is awesome and I Thank you all for sharing this story of ur lives!!
If someone called you a Perfectionist, would that be a bad thing? I'd say not in the least. I admire your devotion and work ethics, all 3 of you, what an inspiration to fallow for anyone, yeah and Compass as well since he scares off the sanding ghosts..Thanks for another adventure, well it is to this Landlubber, enjoy all your putting into svbasic since it will soon be your home on the water !!
I look forward to your videos every week. I have gotten so many ideas from your channel. I am about to do a countertop with the same product you guys used. Thanks!
Beautiful work as usual. Inspirational. My guess is that Emma will probably be the best of all of you at piloting the drone! Go Linh (sp?sorry) on the guns!

SMART Man there Teal. Don't throw ANYTHING AWAY!!!! Awesome...
Lol, don't give Teal anymore reasons to keep. All. His. Tools........and Other Stuff.
I liked when Linh was in that tight space and said "east for you to say".
Teal: That came out easy!
Linh is still twisted up like a pretzel inside the hull wondering how many bruises she'll have
Too many Andrew! Lol
You have enough reasons to be proud of your family and how skillful you all are. Really enjoy your videos! keep them coming!

Hi guys.
Only a tip: Always use your less prominent hand to rub over a freshly sanded surface i.e. if you're left handed, lightly rub you right hand over and vice versa - you are naturally more sensitive to imperfections 👍🏼
Oh boy "thru-hole will be fun" what a great line.
👍-up peeps.
Is there anything Emma can't do? You go girl!!! 😂😂💪💪👌👌👍👍 Another great video. 👍👍👍
....." I saved all my cut outs for a reason"...of course you did Teal. lol.
We always try not to waste what was given to us. 💕👍
I almost started to cut into our fibreglass one piece shower stall thinking “let’s get too work”. But then I slept on it. I haven’t got a plan B. DT

New subject: we are curious: please advise us how you liked your tiny diesel boat heaters over the winter. Did they heat with no diesel smell? Did all areas of the boat get heated?
what yard are you filming in? Love the Seahawks logo-wear... Go Hawks... and-- thanks for the informative video on these thru-holes... WV
We were at Boat Haven Boatyard in Port Townsend, WA. Great facility. We love our Hawks almost as much as we love boats. Lol
I didn't realize you could glass over nyadacore to make a hull now I'm thinking about a nyadacore jon boat
Honestly I just can't wait until you guys start cruising ! hurry up ! lol ! Just kidding just make sure everything is safe for sailing .
I’m late to the party - curious why these boats have so many through hulls?
'Mad's would say 'that's pretty dang spiffy!'
plastic thru hull fittings are sealed in place.. the nut barely snug so you don't stretch the plastic causing it to break, its the sealer that prevents leaks.. not the over tightening of the nut. one must use care when putting hoses or fittings on the inside of plastic thru hull fittings.. to prevent breaking loose the sealing material. just thought i should chip in..
make sure put underwater lights
6:12 such a cheeky cam shot lol
Another great episode. Have you tried an angle grinder with lamellar sandpaper disk and a vacuum cleaner attachment to get that paint off.
That is a heck of a lot of through holes 😰
42 throughholes on the Leopard ? 18 below waterline - that's insane .
Great patch job - modern materials like thickened epoxy make life a lot easier :)
It'd be interesting to know what they all service.
At a guess though.
3 for each head (4 heads and assuming no holding tank/s or combining of grey water plumbing): 12
2 for each motor: 4
2 for the generator
2 for the water maker
2 for each AC unit (intake and exhaust + how many on board? Let's say 3): 6
2 for the galley?
2 for Bilges
That gives 30...
That's what I was thinking! Seems counterintuitive to me...not to combine them before penetrating the hull. Less penetrations = less potential problems later.
For Christmas, I'm gonna send you guys a bunch of gift cards. They won't be worth anything but they'll help with all these projects. haha
