That’s pretty fancy. The priciest hotel I’ve stayed at was not even 5 star in Boston, Massachusetts. It cost me $920 a night. It wasn’t even a quarter as nice as that $113 hotel in Cebu. Have a blast in that part of the Philippines!

Love the spontaneity. That’s still a lot of money for a room but no amenities.Is there a complimentary breakfast included ( usually a buffet breakfast). Rent a moped or a motorcycle and tour the island . It’s an amazing island!

It's definitely gonna get more expensive when it's done, because the hotel is just 1 part of the whole project. It's quite an ambitious project. Their vision for this was "Macau/Dubai but in Cebu", there's an area where apparently they'll build a reclaimed pier for YACHTS--yes, yachts. Cebuanos are relatively well-off. (When typhoon Odette destroyed the Visayan cities in Dec 2021, it toppled electrical posts and paralyzed Cebu, leaving people with no electricity and water. Then electronic shops ran out of generators because people were buying it in bulk, and then they lined up in gas stations as they buy fuel not for cars but for the generators.) However, despite this, it only means that Cebuanos and Visayans don't usually spend more than they need (hence the savings they were able to access). In general, Filipinos are like that: being thrifty is a virtue here. So it really makes you question: who the heck would have yachts? Well, they weren't actually targetting the common Cebuanos but the really rich families of the Philippines. Cebu is a haven for these families. In one way or another, they or someone close to them have "villas" (read: houses) here. It still doesn't match the population of rich families nestled in NCR, but that's the point: the mayor and governor are trying to make Cebu a nexus for these people. And while common Cebuanos cannot afford to splurge on these luxuries as often, it's not entirely out of reach if they save up on it (meaning: it's the emergence of another "consumption target" that will convince people to spend instead of keeping their money saved up). The reason why Sinulog this year was held in SRP for the first time (it wasn't like that at all ever since Sinulog was conceived) was to promote SRP for the very same agenda. They're really pushing SRP since it connects Cebu from North to South, including the neighboring island of Mactan, making SRP the perfect hub for Cebu. And yes, contruction for NU Star started waaaay before the pandemic. You see the bridge with crosses around the same area? That took a really long while to finish. I remember seeing the construction when I ran marathons around SRP years before the pandemic happened.
This is so sad. Since you're in Cebu, you could have stayed in MCTAN SHAGRI-LA (a 5-star hotel). The white beach, pools, and massive breakfast buffet are epic experiences there.

The owner and developer of Nustar Resorts and Casino, Cebu is Tycoon John Gokongwei....Maybe in the future he will expand to Manila and Davao, as most of the tycoons do......Or else he could take over and renovate Okada.....Who knows????
If you get back to Manila, I hope you can check in at SOFITEL HOTEL PLAZA and experience the best buffet in the county, the very own SPIRAL BUFFET. That's gonna be epic.
Try the SOLAIRE OR DREAMS HOTEL RESORTS IN MANILA NEXT TO OKADA HOTEL. THEY ARE GOOD AS WELL WITH EXCELLENT BREAKFAST, LUNCH OR DINNER BUFFETS SOMETIMES WITH AN ALL YOU CAN EAT LOBSTER BUFFET AT THE SOLAIRE.
The area is under construction and what do you expect? The area outside is just the same if you wanted to see a beautiful surroundings you can try other hotels , cebu is not the only place that can offer you a beautiful hotels and scenery but unfairness with cebu they are developing so fast plus the people are so sweet and polite, for more great you can also try the other parts of the Philippines too , ShangriLa Boracay is beautiful too not only the beautiful Beaches that surrounded the area but also they have the best hotels , in manila you can try tons of beautiful hotels .
Sorry about the experience of being cut-off in line and in restaurants. You could have complained. Cut off should be done at the entrance. You have to be assertive, it is not disrespectful to raise a concern. But anyway, still hoping that you enjoy the rest of your stay. Thank you!.
One night sleep in my place is 200 Canadian dollar but a less than 1 star hotel so the place your in now is cheap or a reasonable price . I think Manila Peninsula is still more expensive than that.
It irks me when tourists come visit the Philippines and complain about the prices of the rooms, it’s size, amenities, etc. You are in a 5 star hotel room and you’re paying $115/ night? Come on, now. Thank you for visiting my hometown Cebu, tho.
the people "cutting" in line must have thought you're just browsing the menu and still not really in line ready to order yet. like, still deciding whether you're going to eat there or not. avoid having a distance of 3 to 4ft from the counter to avoid that misunderstanding. pretty sure most of the people cutting you in line doesn't even realise they're cutting you in line. personally i've never experienced it, not saying it doesn't happen though.
Paradise Garden (station 3) in Boracay, a 4 star hotel, is more spacious than that room. And super affordable (see agoda). Try to have a trip there, then do some land tours and island hopping, you can make a 7 - 10 days content in there. Luxury location in Boracay is in Station 0

There are huge malls near NUSTAR such as: SM Seaside City Mall, SM Mall, and IL Corso Food Park.
