- RV Toilet Seal Replacement on a Thetford Aqua Magic Style II. If you RV toilet isn't holding water in the bowl, chance are your waste bowl seal needs to be replaced. It is an easy job and cheap to do job, if it doesn't gross you out working on a toilet. We were able to fix our RV toilet for under $10.00. The kit will come with the waste ball seal and the Flange seal.

Hi Chuck. Thanks for the video. I have a 2018 Grand Design Imagine with the same toilet. It won't hold water either. I just winterized a couple days ago but it looks like I'll be changing my seals in the spring. I'll be sure to watch this video again when I do.

I found your channel when I was looking for information on replacing a Thetford seal. I subscribed after seeing you two at the top of Katahdin :-) I'll get the parts tomorrow and hopefully fix our leaky problem child. OMG! I can change mine with the toilet installed. Just push down the pedal. Pull the old one out. Grease a new one and install it. Done!
Yup. We are not fans of Thetford. It failed twice on us. If it failed again, we were replacing it with a different brand.
You must have a Dometic type.

Great Job C&C! That plumbers grease is a must have for any RVer’ You two just reminded me to purchase additional toilet O-Rings. I installed a water shut off valve at the toilet alleviating shutting off the main. See ya’ soon :) and safe travels!

Thank you for your helpful video! But I do have a question: If you can just twist the bowl to get it off and get access to the seal, why did you remove the entire toilet to replace it?

Thanks for the great video! Both plumbers grease treatment and replacing the seals didn't fix my toilet, bowl still won't hold water. Almost seems worse. I first noticed it not holding water a month ago. The seal appears to be centered, Thetford suggested letting the valve slam shut which seemed to work at first but doesn't seem to help now. I've doubled checked the reinstall and the bowl seems correctly locked onto the base. I replaced the base a couple years ago but the bowl is original. Any ideas what I should try next?
Check the foot pedal. After releasing it pull up on it and see if it moves. If it does then it’s binding. Remove it and lube where it is mounted. Good luck.

Hi. So I’ve removed the ball seal and was wondering if I still need to take the toilet apart to install the new seal.
Hi! I would still take it apart to make sure it is reseated correctly. We are not professionals either, but did have that toilet taken apart quite a few times.
I have the porcelain toilet, but my foot release is at the front, rather than the side, so I'm assuming the process will be the same? Looks like I need to run out and get some plumbers grease, to be on the safe side. Thanks for all the 'tips'!
I have never owed a front pedal toilet, so I can't answer if it is the same. I would imagine it might be close, but I don't really know for sure. Good Luck!

I did this seal change and now my toilet wont sit flat on the floor. I shimmed the back side which stopped the rocking but not sure why the new seal didnt fit perfectly?
Sounds like the flange seal between the toilet and the floor is not sitting right or it is the wrong one.

Is there a water screen on the inlet of the water valve? My toilet does not seem to allow as much water in the bowl. Adjustment?
I need to also replace the seal due to the water leaking out of the bowl. Years ago I used the powder and wondering if the grit scratched the ball assembly. Can the ball assembly/slide plate be replaced?

Do you think the Wehope gaskets you linked are as good as the Thetford gaskets?
We used them. Link says...Compatible with Thetford Aqua-Magic Style Plus/Style Lite/Style II/Residence Permanent Toilet

I've seen some videos where the ball seal can be replaced by simply reaching in the toilet, pulling out the old seal and sliding a new one in place. Is that not possible to do with these Thetford models?
I believe you are referring to a Dometic toilet. Thetford has to be disassembled to the best of my knowledge.

@@tmaq9726 I misunderstood your question. I thought you meant remove the bowl from the base without removing the base. The answer is no, you can't change it without separating it. The video you saw would have been a Dometic like you thought. :)
